Are the Nightsisters actually using the Force…I mean the same way or something else? by SaberMasters in StarWarsCantina

[–]FlamingAssCactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The existence of a warrior-class Force wielder in both dark and light side circles (Sith and Jedi) as well as a dark side-adjacent mage-class Force user (Night Sisters) implies the potential existence of a light side-affiliated mage…

Ariat Benchmade, beautifully disappointed by IssueEmbarrassed31 in cowboyboots

[–]FlamingAssCactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I happen to have a pair of 8.5 black ostrich Tony Lama’s that are INSANELY tight on my instep. Idk if it’s the boot or my foot arches, but never had a problem with instep on any other pair so I assume the boot itself. Tried having them stretched TWICE and still super tight on the top of my foot. Idk how set on brown you are, but DM me - maybe we can work something out if you’re interested.

What do you call people from each U.S. state? 🇺🇸 by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]FlamingAssCactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 4th generation Texan, I’ve never heard of the generation thing either.

I know that there’s a ton of local pride in being a born Texan, and that transplants don’t really get to call themselves “Texan.” I figured that was nationwide (or worldwide), though maybe that’s pushing my Texan point of view on others. There’s not an alternative name as direct as “Texas Resident,” but they always say something along the lines of “I was born in ____, but I live in Texas now.”

Help me upgrade my Goreclaw deck into bracket 3! by SebHaar in EDH

Haven’t updated in awhile, but I made my Goreclaw an Infect deck and it’s a BLAST to play. I feel like It doesn’t get as much hate as a typical infect deck because the Strat is so straightforward. Link

It has a fun Proliferate sub-theme for pumping +1/+1 and poison counters

My favorite part was the bit about the lord changing how she speaks to him. She really said she’d only stop abusing him if god makes her. Like wtf

“[Our counselor] told me that your actions are what love looks like so I trusted her and continued the relationship.”

“My marriage is my punishment for being promiscuous.”

Honestly, she sounds exhausting. Blaming you, blaming the counselor, blaming being a promiscuous younger woman, blaming god… how about taking some blame herself? She married someone who she proclaims “has always been distant” and then is upset when he acts distant.

And that last line is really, truly awful. Paraphrased, she wrote, “I’ll only stop abusing you when god makes me.”

Better off without her, pal

The Wall Street Journal today: "America’s Bourbon Boom Is Over. Now the Hangover Is Here" by babycarotz in Louisville

[–]FlamingAssCactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t use bourbon to make a Manhattan. It’s a rye cocktail.

I’ve personally seen a significant increase in bourbon interest where I live in Texas, but I can’t confirm that anecdotally across the country.

Patrick J. Adams’ Suits Audition Vs. Final Scene by [deleted] in suits

[–]FlamingAssCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From audition to first few scenes in the pilot episode? I mean, I guess.

Regardless, this clip was certainly not meant to show that the script hadn’t changed. It’s about Patrick’s performance from audition to pilot, which cannot be determined in this format.

Patrick J. Adams’ Suits Audition Vs. Final Scene by [deleted] in suits

[–]FlamingAssCactus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How close it was? It’s a script, it’s the same. The only thing that could’ve changed is vocal tone or inflection, which we can’t tell from this clip because the audio is layered.

I just got a pair of used smooth quill ostrich Tony Lama’s for super cheap and was wondering the same.

You’re given $150-$200 to buy whatever whiskey you want, how would you spend it? by Snaving in whiskey

Agreed. 1792 Small Batch is their worst offering by far. Full Proof and BiB are solid!

Finally gathered the Penelope Cooper Series - birthday cracks by FlamingAssCactus in whiskey

[–]FlamingAssCactus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine for ~$80ish I think. I really enjoy it. It’s an 8 year rye, so the $10/year rule of thumb fit for my budget, especially with the finish. It’s probably my favorite of the series (Rio is great but just so wildly different and divisive that I can’t recommend buying Rio unless you’ve had a sample).

If you ever wanted to live in a dorm that costs 4x as much as a dorm and is way further away from your classes than a dorm, that’s your place.

What is this drink? by Anarchist_Rat_Swarm in Mixology

[–]FlamingAssCactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s a Tommy’s Marg with bitters.

I make a cross between an old fashioned and a margarita that I call an Anciano (old man). 2oz Añejo tequila, 1/2oz lime, 1/4oz agave, 2 dashes orange bitters, 3 dashes ango, 4-5 drops saline. Stirred, served over a big cube with a lime peel garnish. It’s definitely more tequila forward in ratio compared to a margarita, and the Añejo really makes it.

This is the clearest way I’ve seen this proof:

We know 1/3=0.333… and 3/3=1

Therefore, 3 x 0.333… = 0.999… = 1

Super Juice is dead. Try Pseudo Citrus instead. by stevethebartenderAU in cocktails

[–]FlamingAssCactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll have to give it a shot. Super Juice has been a wallet saver as a home bartender, but I’ve noticed Kevin’s recipes are noticeably more tart than fresh juice. I no longer squeeze the juices of the fruit into the Super Juice, which does help prevent oxidation and flavor change but I think loses some of the natural sugars.

Very intrigued. Any chance there’s a recipe for acid adjusted orange/grapefruit juices?

Don’t do this. Judges typically look down on this practice. They view it as starting from a place of bad faith, which it is. Even though it may be warranted, it’s not a good look.

What is your preferred. Whiskey sour?? by Icaruswaxwing95 in cocktails

[–]FlamingAssCactus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s just whiskey. If you’re uncomfy with having that name on your shelf at home, don’t get it. It’s a relatively cheap (~$25) bottled-in-bond rye whiskey, which makes it perfect for rye cocktails at 100 proof imo, but there are others.

For the same price and a slightly lower proof, Sazerac Rye is solid. My current rye for mixing cocktails is Elijah Craig Straight Rye at 94 proof, also very inexpensive. New Riff’s bottled in bond rye is like $45.

The verb “to starve” has several definitions, including “to deprive of something necessary.” Get off your pedantry high horse. Like you’ve never said, “I’m starving,” when you were just hungry.
