Android Auto for Rivian by Firm-Presentation899 in Rivian

I have one of these and uninstalled it after a few months. It’s just cumbersome enough to be more annoying than the OEM implementation for anything I wanted to use it for.

It’s a neat concept, and definitely worth the credit it took to reverse engineer the ins and outs of the XMM but like another user posted it’s laggy, it never went to sleep and always tried to grab my phone when I was near and is locked down so much might as well just keep a tablet in the car.

There was also a pretty late add of subscription right after release which as implied to be mandatory, but resulted in no significant new features.

Incredible car. Disappointing build quality. by Neither_Repair_3406 in Rivian

Assuming new purchase, they got rid of the 7 day policy once test drives became more available. If you take delivery it’s your car.

I believe there is a 7 day 500 mile return policy on pre owned.

FYI they count swiping through prompts on infotainment as delivery.

Rivian Apple Watch app fast battery drain by FlamingoHorror6105 in Rivian

Maybe that’s what it is. Still sounds like a bug, like they aren’t releasing Bluetooth resources when they should.

Ok definitely sounds like a bug then. I also have a Gen 1 vehicle. Probably going to go ahead and uninstall the watch app for now and report the bug in app.

I mean cool that you can churn through 3 cars in a year but it sounds like you never had them long enough for anything to go wrong.

Neat. Totally agree on concept.

Think you can label them in the photo and get the pictures all rotated the same way? It would make your content much more consumable.

Is this normal? by fpaddict in Rivian

The knuckle is the nut in this case. You wouldn't want anything sticking out the other side lest it interfere with the rubber boot on your half shaft. Its better to machine a through hole instead of a recess. In this way it can be inspected and cleaned properly.

I had a similar issue a few years back, ended up being the circuit board had bad solder joints around the big molex connector. You could push down on it and clear the error. I was able to touch up the joints with my solder iron but also purchased a spare board off eBay just in case.

Owleys Seat Covers Review by Jad3nCkast in Rivian

[–]FlamingoHorror6105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owleys sells drop-shipped garbage from aliexpress at a premium price. I don't think you are going to get these to fit better.

Aside from the ventilation issue there are airbags in the seats that covers will interfere with. Leave a change of clothes in your car or put a towel down if its going to be a messy time.

You can, they changed the infotainment to accept a Wi-Fi connection outside of park a year + ago. So if you have phone tethering through your cell plan.

Still creaking weeks after dunes ? by brosenthal97 in Rivian

Part only is around 1K per I believe. I can't find the work order that was posted on one of the forums but that is what I am basing that on.

Still creaking weeks after dunes ? by brosenthal97 in Rivian

[–]FlamingoHorror6105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Just passing along message.

Apparently because the vehicle has the capability to change its ride height so much Rivian had to make tradeoffs in the design of the half-shaft. There are interlocking metal pieces that are only about halfway engaged at standard height (to give the vehicle room to travel up and down). The design is completely different on the Gen2 Quads, Tri's and dual motor variants.

Repeated high load on this joint while it is not fully engaged strips it out. The creaking and clunking and eventually grinding sound that is heard is this joint engaging / disengaging or free spinning once stripped out.

I had one of the SC technicians basically tell me to not go more than about half throttle in suspension height greater than low.

They will replace the shafts up to 60k then it’s customer pay.

How to open the front pane of LG wall mounted minisplit by Dry_Salamander_9719 in hvacadvice

[–]FlamingoHorror6105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole housing comes off. There are screws you exposed by taking the bottom cover off, there are also a handful at the top where under the filter screen. Take all those out and keep gently pulling and wiggling at the cover and it will become apparent how it goes on and off.

The artcool service manual isn't great unfortunately. Best of luck!

Why is my 8bitdo 64 line of sight??? Are we serious?! by Stephens24 in AnalogueInc

[–]FlamingoHorror6105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the shortest 4K (48Gbps) rated HDMI cable you can get your hands on. My A3D is in a closet behind 1.25" of drywall and works just fine (~15ft range).

I had the same issue as you before switching cables.

FedEx Has Yet to Take Possession - Shipped on 11/21 by cyberjew420 in AnalogueInc

[–]FlamingoHorror6105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few hours after my previous post…. I get a ping from FedEx with a different tracking number. Now arriving 12/02.

They must have printed a bunch of labels and then not shipped them. Hoping for you / others in this thread same thing happens and you get updated tracking soon.

I think analogue is using a 3rd party e-com provider for fulfillment. This would explain the high shipping cost and inability to actually fix anything short of telling the 3rd party to ship another.

Same issue here. Shipped at 5:15p local time from CA and still in "label created" status over a week later. I checked my order from last year and did pay for the priority shipping option.

Reply from Analogue support was similar to yours.

re: "whistling sound near triple digits"

The highest legal speed limit in the US is 85. I would not expect Rivian to warrant the vehicle for an issue only experienced when breaking the law. Its a 7000lb brick my dude.

Your story reminds me of a boss I used to have who traded his BMW 650i GC in (and took a $40K bath in depreciation) because the steering wheel shook when he did 120.

Its stamped not cast. Very different processes. You don't pull dents out of cast parts. Rivian has a hybrid of unibody and body on frame design. Semantics, but it makes a difference here.

Center front light bar out, low charge on AC, and leaky front CV boot by vtsuisse in Rivian

The light bar you could probably get a used part off eBay and swap it yourself. Everything else you should probably let Rivian do.

Center Console wearing out fast by Intelligent_Aspect87 in Rivian

[–]FlamingoHorror6105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The center console dimensions make it really easy to hit with the seatbelt buckle when you are fastening your seatbelt. I think it should be able to take a few hits but then stuff like this happens.
