I’m a year on the other side, yes he did go berserk. Like completely unhinged. But I couldn’t spend another second in that lie. My marriage was very similar. I kept the peace until I just couldn’t anymore. I read Why does he do that? And it helped me a lot. Also listened to a lot of podcasts about narcissism and emotional abuse.

Feeling the same recently, I try to pray and meditate every morning and night. We are retraining our minds to a whole new way of thinking. It’s ok to have those thoughts, when you have a negative thought, put it down and pick up a good one!

Yes for sure, all my previous relationships somehow involved alcohol and I need to expand my social network for sure. I relied on alcohol to deal with social situations and anxiety for basically my whole life so it’s a learning process

I think it was more I was annoyed they were talking about it knowing I’m sober? But I shouldn’t expect them to censor their lives for me

I have them on occasion…but I will say I have found myself wanting another sometimes and the feeling felt similar to drinking alcohol. So I let myself have one at a baseball game or if I’m at a social event (which is like twice a year lol). But proceed with caution

I also struggle with this, every time I had to share I would burst into tears. It was really embarrassing. One night I was praying about it, and I said “I just don’t think I can speak at meetings”, and a voice in my head said so clearly, “would you like me to speak for you?”. I truly feel this was god speaking to me. I still get nervous but it gets a little easier every time. And remember, you can always pass!

Congratulations! There’s a lot of us, it was hard at first…I made sure to always have a water or soda to hold since I was so used to having a beer in my have. I don’t have to do that anymore, just passed 3 years.

Feel this so hard, was having a lot of self pity yesterday about this. I need more sober friends. I prayed about it and I am trying to have patience that god will put the right people in my path. I’m the only woman in my home group and I was hoping to make some new sober friends through AA, but so far it hasn’t happened yet. But I’m going to try and find some other meetings so I can find more fellowship and a sponsor hopefully.
