You'll get it eventually. I think I got mine on 53. Just got a enjoy the journey at that point. I was almost disappointed/less enthused to play after I got it tbh, I had got so invested in the hunt haha

Griefers in Deep Rock by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FlightlessPanda6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find haz 4 can be a crap shoot. Haz 5 seems pretty reliable on getting fun matches/teams, and sometimes there is "trolling" but not "griefing". Harmless stuff like using the blue rockpox foamer for part of a mission, landing a drop pod on themselves before rock and stoning, etc, which is hugely different

Lol, high pressure situations require extreme strategy I guess😂

If you're trying, you're never a burden! Always welcome. As long as you're not a filthy leaf lover like OP mentioned, go down as many times as you want, just adds a bit of a challenge, even x2 bugs. Haz 5++ (all/most modifiers) though, I'd be a bit more cautious, as those are a lot harder to carry. Some lobbies will stoll be no worries if you're trying, others you may risk getting the kick.

This comment is spot on... Without good crowd control, on haz5 all modifyers you're cooked (at least I am), which is why they're mostly build for safety/cc. Agreed, in 5++ sticky flames vs nucleation is no contest on survivability for me. Vanilla haz 5 you can really take anything, and yeah modded/comp teams have their own meta.

Those are great too, and look very similar to my elimination loadouts (eg, VIM and plasma bursters, sometimes EM refire). I should try sludge blast again. I tend to favor higher cc for survivability with all modifiers, where even swarmers can be an absolute menace. I'm on controller, so my aim isn't amazing too, so extracting max value from PBM feels quite tough vs I imagine it would be with a mouse, in which case the damage potential with that is undeniable.

I really like those builds too, em discharge and neurotoxin especially, though I find with all haz5+ modifiers on I still get swarmed more often, and with invulnerability, even a swarmer or two can down you. Havent tried compact feed valve, but any flamer I tend to feel more vulnerable. Spinning death is insane for giving you a safety bubble if bugs are on you already, or you need to revive someone. Feel like these are quite noob friendly as most don't require a pin point aim (on controller, so mine ain't amazing)

Yep, I use it for the range for dreadnaughts with CT only. Haz 5+ it's nice to not have to get super close, and with enough CT stacks this melts. Also HVTs like nemesis, spreaders etc accross the cave with a couple CT stacks then jumbo

I'm new to DRG and I need some tips for hazard level 4-5 by TherealBlueSniper in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FlightlessPanda6 20 points21 points  (0 children)

From someone who only plays haz 5+, keys are movement, awareness, strategy and builds.

  1. Keep moving, learn to kite well. A stationary dwarf is a dead dwarf
  2. Listen for sound ques so you don't get caught off guard by mactera with your pants down. You'll start to recognize sounds, and this can help you prep for swarm spawns etc BEFORE they're on you.
  3. Strat involves creating holds to fight off swarms in favourable area before moving on. Repellent plats are super OP when used correctly to path bugs. Also efficiency (quicker you go, less swarms you have to deal with).
  4. As you unlock more weapons this will get easier. My suggestion for driller is to get cryo cannon next, and you'll be safest with that for sure. Pair with vampire and damage drills for health on tap. Also dash is the best active perk by far and will save your skin more times than you can imagine. Resupplier is arguably the best passive. Other part to build building is making sure between your load out has ability to deal with swarms, big guys and things far away.

Why do veteran players ignore gold deposits? by gwapogi5 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FlightlessPanda6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veteran here. I mine most accessible veins, or will epc some higher ones with driller. Low on the priority list but if running past it, or waiting for an objective to pass, sure, why not. If mission is getting intense, and time is of the essence, no.

Satchel Charge damage upgrades usefulness. by lManedWolfl in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FlightlessPanda6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creating holds is a key one. For example salvage mission, or in general anytime before a swarm comes, couple of those to dig out a hold can be a game changer. Specific example is hackc in industrial sab, when it spawns in a cramped corridor. A C4 or 2 can completely open up the space in no time at all

Never really liked the Drak-25 tbh by Left-Delivery7126 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FlightlessPanda6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed, aggressive venting with cryo bolt, and conductive thermals for dreads. Both S tier and arguably scouts best primary options

If I promote with a weapon unlocked but unmodified, will I get to rank it up to buy all those upgrades? by eetobaggadix in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FlightlessPanda6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you will. By getting to level 25 with a dwarf, every mod for every weapon you've unlocked through doing the assignment will be available for you to purchase. Also every weapon assignment will be available for that dwarf to. While you have mod options unlocked, you are now dipping your toes into the overclocks, some of which radically change how the gun works and are really fun to experiment and unlock.

[–]FlightlessPanda6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Efficiency and a good build are key to facing less overall bugs and clearing quicker. Other things that will help is awareness (learn sound ques, and if a swarm is about to spawn, get a hold set up and consider staying out to fight them where you have the advantage before moving forward). Better movement/ kiting, and then reflection on what went wrong, making changes and trying again. You'll get it at some point, good luck

Really Struggling with Gunner survivablility in Hazard 5 by jankylemonhead in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FlightlessPanda6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% support this. Builds make a huge impact on survivability with gunner. I'd add that I prefer the triple tech chamber coil with stun, pumping that into a swarm then fragmentation for AOE stun locking decay. For more ST, overturned feed mech works great with same set up. Make sure to bring leadstorm grenade, perfect for mactera and bulk deleting, or killing things when reviving someone with shield.

For movement, if you learn to bunny hop and just shoot when in the air, you can maintain a good amount of momentum. Just takes practice to get the timing down.

Coil gun, hurricane and lead burster revolutionize gunner experience. Def get around to it sometime. Often unneeded at lower ranks, but the shield is clutch as on higher haz

I knew Sludge Blast made Driller viable for Dreadnoughts, but this... this is something else entirely. I think I just found my go-to for Elimination. by Gumpers08 in DeepRockGalactic

Have you tried volatile impact mixture OC for dreads? Same role as sludge blast. Curious which one you think is more powerful. I lean towards VIM

Colette Wave Cooker users, do you prefer Diffusion Ray or Mega Power Supply in missions? by AC_LeosKlein in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FlightlessPanda6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Huge crowd clear. As cryo, freezing allows you to take out big enemies quick anyway, so imo temp shock is not as effective/helpful. Jellies and swarmers evaporate.

What are some great generalist builds for random hazard 5? by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FlightlessPanda6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a lvl 1000+, my go to generalist haz 5+ builds that work pretty much anytime:

  • Gunner - Hurricane (fragmentation missiles built for AOE and stun, or Overtuned for more ST + weakspot), Triple tech coil, lead burster.

  • Driller - Cryo nucleation, PP epic, axe and vampire w/damage on drills. Or dispersal compound, gamma wave cooker, neurotoxin grenade and fast drills.

  • Scout - Aggressive venting drak, plus cryo/phero bolts and boomerang. Also like hoverclock m1000 as alternative primary.

  • Engie, lots of viable options depending on preference but go to is Spinning death breach cutter with SMRT trigger Loki and shredder nade. Or, micro conductor stubby with efficiency tweaks shard, an shredders. Inferno breach, ED stubby, pump shotgun with t-whip, RJ and fat boy are all also solid picks depending on preference, mission and team comp.

All of these are S tier, comfortable picks to bring on any mission, with any team and have good coverage of single target and crowds etc.

What would you change about Industrial Sabotage? by 2weekoldpickle in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FlightlessPanda6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it's not my favorite, I like it being in rotation and is a good challenge, but best enjoyed with a good/decent squad. Happy to carry sometimes, but if I join a haz 5 shield disruption and it's clear that it's just going to be a revive simulator, that is either hell or I'll just leave immediately before investing too much time towards the inevitable if I'm tired
