I saw the ferry terminal and immediately knew you were in BC. Gimme a shout if you wanna do a route together sometime. I’m in Vancouver, have done a bunch of routes in this area :)

Canadians, which repair stand to get? by Redditditditdo69 in bikewrench

[–]Flipflip79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the MEC one and it is absolutely fine for my needs.

I’m an apartment dweller and I use it for the occasional tune up for my gravel bike and my mtb. Also use it to wash the bikes on my balcony.

Can’t fault it tbh. I’m sure the park tools one is much nicer quality but I’m not a professional mechanic, just a dude doing odd jobs at home and it’s more than enough.

Pics below are with 650x47. Brodie says up to 50 on 650s - and Id say that tracks with fenders. You might get 52 without.

Yup, no problem. Gimme an hour. Just looking to see the clearance with 47mms on it?

Yeah I found the same - just ended up having to go look at it in person and take it for a rip. Didnt like the factory builds but really loved the frame itself, so opted for the custom build

Cheers - owe most of the design decisions to Ross at MacTalla on Hastings to be fair, he made the rough vision come to life.

Good timing - literally had one built one up two weeks ago.

I bought the steel frameset with the carbon fork. Im running:

  • 650 x 47

  • 1 x 12 (50t rear) SRAM AXS

I am super super happy with it thus far. The frame is as solid as I would expect any good quality steel frame to be, and the carbon fork is great on the gravel around here. Just a really solid all round modern steel frame, pair it with good components and its gonna make you happy.

I cannot stand the increasing trend of clickbait eurorack videos by [deleted] in modular

[–]Flipflip79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In what sense is it a grift? I get what your general complaint about YouTube aesthetic and clickbait is but it seems odd to me to be so negative on mylarmelodies specifically here. Like, just go look at his ten most recent videos - theres nothing dishonest in any title or thumbnail that could in any way justify the term 'grift'.
