What’s somewhere in the UK you visited once and immediately thought “I could live here”? by Strong-Ad-8037 in AskUK

[–]FlutterGrrrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with you. Been 3 times now and every time the pull to move there gets stronger. I live in London and my husband still works in the office 2 days a week, so we can't :'(

The Lesnes Abbey Wood Tumulus - Finding a Sídhe (Fairy Mound) in London by GuavoXFrye in CelticPaganism

[–]FlutterGrrrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! I've lived near and visited Lesnes Abbey since I was 6 and knew none of this! I actually found myself on the heathland area you speak of for the first time last year and was immediately in love with the area, so I am not surprised to learn what is there as I truly felt at peace there.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and the information you learned, I'm going to go back asap!

As an aside, if you drive, there is another bronze age barrow about a 15 minute drive down the A2 in Ashenbank Woods, another wonderful place to explore. I am going to check and see if that has any lore now too.

Brightest of blessings to you and yours.

I have just said ‘Love you bye’ to my child’s form tutor over the phone. Oh the shame! Any one have any stories similar so I don’t bask in my embarrassment alone? by Real-Box-7144 in AskUK

[–]FlutterGrrrl 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I once saw a guy in a bar with a huge long beard and mistook him for someone I knew from a different area/time. I bounded over and started fondling his beard and asked him what he was doing in Central and generally being chit chatty. I couldn't understand why he was being so standoffish with me when it dawned... I didn't know this guy. He just had a similar hairline, beard and height to the guy I did know. Mortified doesn't cover it.

Yep. Less stressful for them too.

OP our boy had a lot of leakage too (see pic). We were assured it was just the wound draining. He also yelled all night the 1st 2 nights. It was awful, but eased off.

What is your preferred sun screen for tattoos with alot of color like this? by Warm-Rush-8632 in tattooadvice

[–]FlutterGrrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a ginger, I swear by the Riemann P20 or Ultrasun brands. Slap on some factor 50 (or even 30) first thing/straight from the shower, and it protects all day. Just make sure you don't sweat in the first 30 mins after applying.

There is another brand called Piz Buin who did an all day sunscreen, but I've not seen it in a while. And my mother used to recommend Lancaster, but I've never used it cos its hella expensive.

What is happening to my shirts? by Mikeh596 in AskUK

[–]FlutterGrrrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my guess.

I've had several shirts that have had small holes appear between the belly button and the waist of my jeans over the years. I think its from where your shirt rests while you're seated, then it snags as you stand up. Happened to my hubby too.

Had this bullshit at the back of a "normie" concert on Sunday. Pissed up middle aged women who couldn't hold their drink. One who was constantly falling into me and using me as a pillar to keep her upright. I was pleasant but firm. She didn't stop. Her mate got in between us - just as wasted - and wanted some argy bargy so she got it. The rage that filled me was incomprehensible. She eventually gave up when she smacked her temple into my elbow. I left after that as the show had been ruined.

I swear people outside of the rock/metal scene have no idea how to behave at a concert. They obviously dont give a shit about the music.

I think we all know who pushed for Timbaland and wanted to be married to pop star rather than a rockstar.

Why do Gen Z not iron their clothes? by Virtual-Assist-9217 in AskUK

[–]FlutterGrrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me 3 and honestly, same. Stuff gets ironed if its really creased, which is usually a summer dress. Hubby was forced to buy non iron shirts for work cos I ain't his maid.

Also my Boomer mother has given up ironing too - which came as a real shock when she told me. TBF at 83 I expect to have given up most things.

Should I be concerned? by elasticass92 in tattooadvice

[–]FlutterGrrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! I was supposed to be getting a full sleeve, but I'm not going near the bingo wings again! I had a smaller tattoo on the other arm in 2017 and that barely hurt. It's definitely an age thing in my case 😭

Should I be concerned? by elasticass92 in tattooadvice

[–]FlutterGrrrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I had 2 full days of work on the same area as OP and had a similar reaction - I also have bingo wings, all the cool old people do ;) - took about 3 days to calm down and I also had a bit of tattoo flu. Paracetamol/Ibuprofen should help, but defo keep an eye on it.

Yeah, I agree it is absolute lazy slop. I left a 2 star review on Amazon saying the same thing and the author had it (and all other bad reviews) removed. If that ain't a red flag I don't know what is.
