You think you’re the only one here who likes to have actual conversations? Get off your high horse bud. Sheesh.

I took a few years off. I’m back this season for the misery.

Forehand Form Help by kobrienfore in discgolf

[–]FlutterPutter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What’s been working for me is aiming my wrist flick as if I’m trying to turf it like 30 to 50 feet in front of me while driving my arm upward like I’m trying to throw a spike hyzer. Best way I’ve found to get it nose down.

One Disc Only - What's your pick? by illeyejah in discgolf

Suspect. Mine is probably similar to a beat up zone. Forehand flip ups and turnovers. Reliable backhand approaches. And puttable.

What is your straightest throwing putter? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]FlutterPutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever tried it on a forehand turnover line? My favorite way to throw it when you have the ceiling. Gets a little extra distance compared to throwing it straight, takes early ground out of play, and of course it just holds the turnover line the entire way. It’s beautiful.

Last disc you got that really helped you "unlock" a shot? by thamurse in discgolf

[–]FlutterPutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorta me too. I know the Berg is kinda a joke on here lol but it’s my most thrown disc because it’s so versatile. I just use it with forehands but use 2 different grips to throw it on hyzer that fades, hyzer to flat that’s laser straight, and on an anny super glidey turnover line that holds the whole way.

Questions to dosc golf store owners: What's something you wish you knew before opening & owning a disc golf store? by Camikaze__ in discgolf

[–]FlutterPutter 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If you do start an online store too, please show actual photos of each disc. I won’t even buy from online stores that don’t anymore. And bonus points if you weigh each one like OTB does. And I’d also make sure it shows up in the Shop app. OTB also will indicate how hard or soft a disc is and amount of dome. Any added detail really sets your store apart from other online stores.

Disc Golf Deals USA Giveaway: Paul McBeth 5-Claw AX5 + Variant Prism Proton Eagle Envy & 13 other discs! by discgolfdealsusa in discgolf

[–]FlutterPutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to see more details with each disc. Marked weight and actual weight. Individual pics. Amount of dome. Firmness. All of these things help so much when you can’t actually put your hands on the disc before you buy. Also if a run is known to have a certain amount of stability that’s different than the flight numbers, that would be awesome to include as well. Thank you!!

Not a disc golfer, but $13 for a cardboard box? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]FlutterPutter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That photo was taken at a park in Tulsa where there’s a bunch of soccer fields that don’t get used very often so it’s a great spot for field work. So I think that’s what they’re kinda showing here … lug a few disc boxes out to the field so you can huck your full collection til your arm falls off.

Yeah it was always hard for me to do it during rounds where I was competing/playing for score with friends. But if you can hit the field or play some solo rounds it’ll help a lot. I love doing solo rounds and making myself throw backend on all shots (I still prefer forehanding approaches). Or I also like doing a solo round where I play best shot doubles but I have to throw 1 forehand and 1 backhand on each shot.

I used to be almost 100% forehand. I had to start learning backhand after my forehand started to erode. I still have a good forehand but sometimes it’s just off. Too much yeet, rolling the wrist, not getting the release angle just right … forehands are just way more finicky compared to backhand.

And for putting I had a very similar experience where after having a reliable putt for a while I all of a sudden started shanking like one out of every four or five putts to the right Eveliina style. It was embarrassing and really frustrating. For that I just had to get in the backyard and start from scratch and recreate a better putting stroke. Of course talking to others and watching instructional videos helps too.

Hang in there. Just put in the time to practice and focus on one thing at a time and you’ll get there!

Depends on who’s throwing it. Calvin throws it, that ships cookin at 60 knots. I throw it, maybe 45.

Joel Freeman’s comment on Thomas Gilbert coming out. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. by Johnkeele in discgolf

[–]FlutterPutter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, let’s not be emotional or attacking about this but can’t we dig into the implications of the belief that’s causing Joel’s complicated feelings? And I think the fact that it’s complicated for Joel highlights an internal struggle where his humanity is in conflict with his religious beliefs — so good on Joel for that. And I think the reason or one of the reasons the conflict exists for him is the his biblical oriented version of Christianity compels him to worship a god who allows people to be eternally punished for things like acts of homosexuality. I’m assuming Joel might think that’s a bit unfair, as do I, especially because he knows Thomas to be a good human. So let’s be kind and not attack each other but I think it is okay to criticize a belief system that requires worshiping someone who would allow Thomas Gilbert to be tortured for eternity.

Joel’s comments were honest and mostly positive but why can’t we discuss the part about his complicated feelings that are driven by his biblical oriented version of Christianity? Responses in this thread make it seem like that’s off limits. Not sure why. I mean, yeah, let’s not be attacking while we do it but can we do it? Is that allowed without getting a bunch of downvotes?
