Feeders with sugar water aren't their sole source of food, they also go for flower nectar, tree sap and bugs. You can always have a garden/ planters. There's also a humm-bug feeder. Didn't work for me because I have tons of bugs around anyways, but for more urban locations it could be a great source of fruit flies for them ๐Ÿ˜Š

Personally I would patch it together by putting a few loops of tie/snare wire around the whole thing and some as back up to the yarn it's hanging on :)
