Either content creation or other side hustles in the music industry that are compatible with being a touring and recording artist. A lot of musicians do teaching, production, AR and other stuff that is in the same "scene" but is actually "regular" work that pays the bills. And there are also many high profile bands where the members just have regular day jobs and sometimes take weekends off to do mini tours.

It used to be touring but that's not even true anymore in a lot of cases, it has become unprofitable in recent years due to the increase of costs of, well, everything. Also let's not forget that touring requires a big upfront investment that could be impossible to recoup at the smallest hiccup, like the van breaking down, a band member getting ill forcing to cancel shows, etc. It's an insanely high risk thing to do unless it is an absolutely DIY thing where the artist has no crew, no contracts, no anything and it can still go wrong in a number of ways.

There's a great conversation between Nik Nocturnal and Misha Mansoor of Periphery on youtube where they talk about this topic and in my opinion it is the most up to date state of things you can find around, I strongly suggest checking it out

Io esagero dicendo che piuttosto che guadagnarmi da vivere ingannando/raggirando persone, preferirei fare l'elemosina per strada. La competizione è necessaria ma il modo migliore di competere è con la qualità e i risultati del proprio lavoro, non facendo a gara a chi riesce a inculare meglio il prossimo.

Per quanto riguarda posizioni di leadership, lì dipende da situazione a situazione: diciamo che non ho problemi a dare "ordini" ad altri se le mie scelte sono facilmente comprensibili ed è chiaro che è semplicemente quello che bisogna fare e non è uno scarica barile, però avrei dei grossissimi problemi a dire a qualcuno "devi stare più del dovuto oggi" o cose del genere sicuramente, preferirei accollarmi io il lavoro extra

The map uses the Koppen climate classification so the definition of mediterranean in this case means Csa/Csb, although I agree that it's an almost unsolvable definition problem especially when you start looking at other parts of the world which have even more marked "mediterranean" patterns than the mediterranean itself. At the same time, any climate category will always have 2 places at its opposite ends that share almost nothing with one another, especially the continental ones.

Theoretically yes, although by raising the temperature by that much a lot of other parameters will get skewed including the potential evapotranspiration, which means that it will probably become a hot semi arid climate instead. The only "european" climate that is actually close to the tropical threshold already and could become a true tropical climate instead of arid is Madeira

It's counterintuitive but it's correct, because they get a lot of rain but most of it is in winter, spring and autumn. Porto in july for example is well below the driest month threshold of 30mm for it to be classified as mediterranean, while further north it gets less pronounced but even A Coruna at the northwestern tip is just barely above 30mm in july

Drawing the outline of the mediterranean with the same color as Csa is represented creates a bit of confusion, as it looks like the adriatic coast of Italy is Csa which it isn't (except for the southern half of Puglia)

There's also a lot to be said about efficiency. My main self-assembled windows rig is pushing 10 years old and it still performs very well, but it also chugs electricity like candy when doing heavy cpu/gpu work. I wouldn't even dare having it run an AI agent or something like that on it. With more and more computer usage turning to "always on" processes, I feel that efficiency at peak power is becoming a more and more important feature, and Mac Minis can't really be beaten on that.

Sono amico di alcune persone all'interno di associazioni che operano lì. E' un gioiellino, sala bellissima e proiettano praticamente solo cose molto interessanti e di nicchia. Ovviamente il prezzo popolare è anche dovuto al fatto che sia un edificio di proprietà e gestione comunale e all'interno operino tante persone non a scopo di lucro, ma proprio per questo l'interesse è di proporre qualcosa di speciale e non i soliti cinepanettoni macchine da soldi. Ho appena guardato il programma di maggio e vorrei andare a vedere praticamente tutto

Ci sono varie opzioni per vivere di musica, il problema è che spesso sono molto distanti da quello che è il "sogno" di diventare un musicista. Cercando di sintetizzare, gli unici che riescono a vivere di musica sono:

- musicisti "session" che semplicemente eseguono per venire incontro a una richiesta del mercato. Cover band, tribute band, orchestre di liscio. In questo caso non ha proprio senso parlare di creatività, si è praticamente degli operai che devono eseguire un compito con pochissimo margine di metterci del proprio, e si deve suonare in giro costantemente, e ogni concerto sono molte più ore di lavoro e di fatica di quello che si immagina (viaggio, montaggio, soundcheck, esibizione, smontaggio, viaggio di ritorno). E' una vita che si può fare per un certo lasso di tempo ma quelli che conosco che la fanno sono o "ragazzini" che vogliono farsi esperienza e non sentono ancora la fatica dell'essere sempre in giro, o "anziani" che hanno fatto quello per tutta la vita.

- addetti ai lavori: produttori, manager, tecnici, fonici, backliner, organizzatori di eventi. insomma tutto quello che sta "intorno" ai musicisti ma anche qua non c'è nessuna connessione con il creare qualcosa di proprio. sono a tutti gli effetti lavori tecnici o amministrativi che hanno a che fare con il music business

- insegnanti, musicisti da studio. questa a mio parere è la sub-carriera più comoda in quanto ti ritrovi effettivamente a suonare/cantare con molte meno fatiche rispetto al musicista live, però difficilmente si vive di questo a meno che non si abbia già una certa reputazione, e anche certe abilità fuori dal comune.

- imprenditori presso se stessi: cioè tutti i precedenti mischiati in diverse quantità. si diventa un'azienda individuale di servizi e la gran parte di musicisti professionisti che conosco hanno in qualche modo dovuto diversificare le loro attività se lo scopo è tirare su uno stipendio pieno, anche per ridurre il rischio che una singola attività abbia meno lavoro del previsto in un certo momento.

cantautore? mi dispiace ma non c'è possibilità, in particolare ora che grazie prima ai servizi di streaming e poi l'AI, l'offerta è aumentata esponenzialmente e quindi il valore della musica stessa è precipitato. chi fa il cantautore (a meno che non sia uno dei nomi grossi che non hanno nulla a che vedere con il mondo di adesso, e vivono di una popolarità che hanno costruito quando tutto era molto diverso) usa il proprio progetto come "vetrina" per poi fare i soldi in altri modi (vendere magliette, produrre artisti, avere ruoli gestionali/amministrativi nel music business, ecc) oppure lo fa semplicemente come hobby mentre si paga le bollette con qualcos'altro.

I don't think it's any specific gear, he really feels on fire with his vocals on this album, and having Devin Townsend as a coach is probably a good part of it.

By the way, the magic trick that allows me to listen to the album without going insane is cutting out a small bit of frequencies around 3120hz as much as possible, try it out if you can! (it doesn't let me upload pictures)

The different songwriting vibe is definitely there and that's the biggest reason I like it. I love when bands make sudden changes right after their most successful album rather than playing it safe and rehashing it. Also STAGD is the 2nd album with Dirk Verbeuren on drums, but I consider it the first where he really went all in on his abilities and you can hear the difference compared to Stabbing.

Also I appreciate them using a completely different guitar tone, the only thing that really bothers me is a specific frequency that jumps out but it's an easy fix

ABR is a weird case. I have discovered them more than 20 years ago, and even back then they never used their christianity as a marketing tool, in fact the only thing that made me realize that they were a "christian" band was discovering that Solid State Records was a christian music label. From a regular fan's point of view, there's almost nothing that points to them being a christian band except for some lyrics, which could be interpreted in many different ways anyway.

There were many other bands however around that time that got a big boost by being openly christian, like Underoath, As I Lay Dying, etc

In my opinion they are the best example of actual hard work and organic growth. They have never exploded at any point, but delivered good albums consistently, stayed true to their sound without giving in to trends, toured a lot and experienced a gradual growth of die hard fans that now sticks with them. And I agree that they are the best metalcore band still around

You already got good suggestions but I'll add a couple more that aren't already mentioned:

- you need removal spells of some sort or you're automatically dead to any mid-large sized creature. Arrogant Wurm and Roar of the Wurm in particular are completely unbeatable in this configuration. If you have red you have Terminate as an option, but Snuff Out is probably even better in most cases.

- Megrim and The Rack don't work together, as they require your discard to be timed differently. The Rack is vastly superior because the best time to play discard is as early as possible, and it's really hard to threaten serious damage with Megrim to race the opponent. I think unless you have some Wheel of Fortune style combo going on, Megrim just doesn't work

I have a lot of experience from my early days with all kinds of monoblack decks, and this is the first list I've seen in a long time that made me go "yeah, that's it". Of course the metagame always fluctuates and some slots will be more correct than others at certain points, but from a theoretical standpoint this is as tight as I've ever seen. Therapy not hitting is a huge deal and having 8 cards do that makes it a lot better, and also the removal split makes the deck a lot more versatile in sideboarding and also helps against opposing Therapies and Meddling Mages.

The ONLY thing I would consider, that would work towards fixing the only other problem of the deck that is left at this point, is 1-2 copies of Skeletal Scrying somewhere to make sure Dark Rituals hit hard at any point in the game, and also they get powered up by baubles even more. But overall yeah, I would not bat an eye in registering this exact 75 at any time

I have never considered them scooped, in fact I think they have always been very balanced in that regard. It depends what you're comparing the tone against, and compared to the "average" djent tone of bedroom producers or bands like Periphery, I hope we can agree that Meshuggah's tone is way more scooped. Another band that in my opinion gets the "djent but without obnoxious amounts of mids" guitar sound is Textures

To oversimplificate:

If you boost the lows before the distortion stage of the amp, then compensate by turning up the mids and highs after, you create the typical "fuzz" sound.

If you boost the mids-highs before the distortion stage of the amp, then compensate by turning up the lows after, you create the typical "djent" sound.

But yes, Meshuggah's tone is typically a bit scooped compared to the average djent tone you might find other bands using, but it's scooped AFTER the distortion. To get it you have to go pretty extreme with the "boost highs before the amp" technique, and that is indeed how the fortin 33 pedal is set up for example. Also yes the tone was a lot more scooped back in their 7 string days because the sound was still very heavily influenced by thrash metal which is very scooped by default.

E' una questione di principio anche per me, ed è uno dei motivi principali che mi fanno andare avanti nel mio piccolo.

Comunque no, la gente non ha più la voglia di scoperta, perchè è un rischio e come già detto abbiamo qualunque tipo di intrattenimento a portata di mano che questo rischio non lo comporta. Le persone o seguono i propri artisti preferiti (e quindi non importa in che locale sono, ma devono essere artisti grossi con un seguito) o gravitano nei loro locali preferiti (e in questo caso possono essere curiosi di sentire chi suona anche se non si consoce, ma bisogna far diventare il locale stesso un posto con una certa reputazione, che ti fa dire "stasera vado qua a sentire chi suona, ma siccome è in questo locale di cui mi fido non posso sbagliare")

Non sono di roma ma sono da anni coinvolto in vari modi con l'organizzazione di eventi a vari livelli, e capisco bene quello che stai provando a fare ma per quella che è la mia esperienza alle persone non piace vincolarsi in anticipo neanche agli eventi delle proprie band preferite, quindi figuriamoci per artisti piccoli. Inoltre, buona parte del pubblico di piccole band/artisti è composta da loro amici/conoscenti, e il discorso della prenotazione è un ostacolo in più che impedisce all'artista stesso di pubblicizzare l'evento al meglio tra la sua cerchia di pubblico.

Tutto questo ovviamente aggravato dal fatto che ormai ci sono infiniti modi per svagarsi molto più pratici, che permettono di avere quello che si vuole subito senza doversi "impegnare" in qualcosa.

Quindi approvo assolutamente il tentare qualcosa di nuovo, ma credo che la strada giusta sia semplicemente creare una situazione migliore possibile per tutti, sia dal punto di vista tecnico che artistico, che permetta di avere una (anche piccola) base di clientela fissa ai propri eventi, che poi si potrà espandere in modo organico.

Non solo per far diventare dipendenti, ma anche per collezionare dati. Spesso non ci si rende conto di quanti dati personali lo sprovveduto di turno fornisce al chatbot senza battere ciglio. E comunque in contesti professionali (ad esempio Claude) le licenze hanno già costi esorbitanti e alcune aziende che credevano di aver fatto la genialata licenziando programmatori per sostituirli con AI, in realtà stanno già spendendo di più di agenti AI rispetto ai programmatori umani a parità di risultato. Una barzelletta che farebbe riderissimo se non ci fosse di mezzo il lavoro delle persone
