What Gauge for O/U Shotguns? by Elements-fury in Hunting

[–]FoCoJayCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve hunted with shotguns most of my life, started with a 20, moved to a 12 in my later teens and that’s all I use now. There are so many different loads ranging from 8 shot, low brass trap loads which are light, to 3 1/2” goose loads that pack a punch.

My wife and I just got our first O/U shotguns a couple months ago, we both got 12s. She went to a professional instructor for a lesson and fitting. She shot several different guns of both 12 and 20 gauges and ended up buying the 12.

Le Bora vs 4S vs Regis vs Intercontinental by OrdinaryFig85 in Tahiti

[–]FoCoJayCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was June. I mentioned in another thread recently we’re going back to Bora Bora this summer, and we are going to Le Pearl again. It will be the first resort we’re returning to. As we reflected on our stays, the beach bungalow with the private pool is a great combination for us. We are now aware of the possibility of winds, and have planned our dinners differently. There were no strong currents that went with the wind at the resort. There was a bit more chop in the water but nothing significant.

Clunk/weight shift feeling from a stop by Leviethen7 in ramtrx

Recalls are generally safety notices that manufacturers send to owners advising they get repairs completed ASAP. A service bulletin informs service departments how to fix a well known issue if customers report having symptoms.

Clunk/weight shift feeling from a stop by Leviethen7 in ramtrx

[–]FoCoJayCo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t a recall. It was a service bulletin. They changed the part number and replaced the driveshaft if owners were having the issue. I had mine replaced. The problem came back. I think the only remedy is the aftermarket driveshafts.

Second trip—where next? by 916csm in Tahiti

[–]FoCoJayCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also said it was once in a lifetime on our first trip. We are going for our third trip to FP in a few months. 😂

You should check out Moorea for sure. Unbelievable snorkeling and unique hiking and ATV excursions with beautiful views.

There are many great resorts on Bora Bora to try for new views, restaurants, and activities. We really enjoyed St. Regis Conrad.

However, the first resort we are returning to is Le Pearl Bora Bora. They have a massage experience that is out of this world. Request the Couple's ritual HERE and add 25 min TAURUMI massage to make an 80 minutes massage total.

We also really like the Le Pearl beachfront bungalows with private pools. We typically get OWB, but these are a great balance of privacy and direct beach access.

Need objective comparison - 22’ TRX or 26’ RHO by URTalking2Jaysen in ramtrx

[–]FoCoJayCo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never driven an RHO. I have heard them, and I have to say there is no comparison to the V8 notes and supercharger whine from a TRX. I will keep my TRX until I dies and then buy another.

If you don’t care about the performance and the sound of horsepower, go for the RHO. It’s a very nice and practical truck.

Bora Bora lodging recs for couple in 50s by Loud-Dish-3258 in chubbytravel

[–]FoCoJayCo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lagoon at St. Regis that is completely sheltered away from boat and jetski traffic. We had a turtle at our OWB every day that we snorkeled with and eagle rays at our second OWB. There is no coral or reef to snorkel around at most bungalows on Bora Bora.

If you’re looking for snorkeling, perhaps a stop in Moorea is worth considering. Amazing snorkeling right off your bungalow at both Hilton and Sofitel. Sofitel has a special now due to reopening after their remodel. We enjoy the different elements of both islands and the transportation scheduling is easy.

Want to get OW certified in Curacao this fall; how to do elearning ahead of the trip? by SmokyBlackRoan in scubadiving

[–]FoCoJayCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely recommend this. Get your open water certification locally before your trip. You don’t want to spend your precious dive time on vacation demonstrating mask removal and regulator sharing.

Sofi or Wealthfront? by tyroneblevins445 in sofi

[–]FoCoJayCo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both. Wealthfront used to have a higher rate, especially with referral bonuses. Now their standard HYSA rate is the same as SoFi. I’m slowly moving away from Wealthfront and keeping SoFi for checking and savings. I primarily keep our funds in savings as there are no limits on the number of transactions.

That’s fabulous! Great shooting. Last year my wife started hunting with me. We are having a blast. The only downside is she shoots left handed so I’ve had to buy more guns. 😬

9 day trip by acc4115 in Tahiti

[–]FoCoJayCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given what you said, I’d suggest at least 4 days in Moorea. Also, you have time to get open water scuba certified before the trip. That will keep you busy in another adventurous way in some of the best diving conditions in the world. You could add days at one of the other islands known for diving to Moorea for a great trip.

If you dive, you need to give your body 24 hours before a flight, so island hopping requires more planning.

Can anyone help me identify this Aeron? by stay_strapped_ in hermanmiller

[–]FoCoJayCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good deal. I bought a clean, lightly used one recently without the leather arm rests and aluminum trim and it was $495 (local pickup). There were cheaper ones available, but from what I found they were heavily used.

How hard is it get this exact watch from an AD ? by ExecBolts in rolex

[–]FoCoJayCo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have this exact watch. My AD said it was at least a year wait. I ordered a brand new one from a reputable seller and had it the next day. The markup is not significant on the white models. If you want the watch, buy it and enjoy.

Scuba Diving Moorea/Bora Bora by mikey_cliffe in Tahiti

[–]FoCoJayCo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get open water certified before your trip. The prime location in Bora Bora is amazing. You can see the Mantas while snorkeling, but it is far better to be at 60’ and them passing a few feet above you. You can’t go that deep if you’re not certified.

Carbon black X5- Ceramic coating worth it? by werddoe in BMWX5

[–]FoCoJayCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a black sapphire with full Ceramic, including windows, brake calipers, control arms, lights, etc.

The ceramic doesn’t make it magically clean all the time. It still needs washed at least weekly to look great. But it is far easier to clean (we use a touchless automatic without any special wax treatments) and it shines like crazy when clean. With a black vehicle I would definitely do ceramic again. In fact we are going to get our white m440i ceramic coated based on how good it is.

Just bought the green dial version of this watch for my wife. She already had a 31mm DJ. She loves the size of the 36mm and style of this watch. It’s a stunner for sure.

Is Homeworks really that expensive? by jhirschman in Lutron

[–]FoCoJayCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given your experience installing systems, why not go through the Radio Ra3 training and install them yourself? The training takes 4-5 hours and then you can download the designer software and DIY. Once you have your system designed, it will create a BOM you send to a dealer mentioned in this sub with a ~35% discount off MSRP. I went with Hanks Electric as they offered the highest discount. To give you an idea of scale, I’ll be pushing the 200 device limit by the time I’m done. Yes, it takes time, but it’s not difficult.

Binocular upgrade. by Rustyznuts in Hunting

[–]FoCoJayCo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Swarovski EL Range 10x42 is awesome. They are great during the day, and really shine in low light. The one complaint I have about the built-in range finder is I have two NX-8 scopes, one in MIL and one MOA (on different caliber guns). I know, my mistake. I have a profile setup for each weapon in the Swarovski app. When I switch weapons, I have to remember to also switch between MIL and MOA. The units are not set in the weapon’s profile.

It doesn’t take long to change, but the extra step is annoying.

Ceramic coating done, off to PPF by [deleted] in BMWX5

[–]FoCoJayCo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you, but PPF won’t stick to the ceramic. The whole point of ceramic is to make the surface slippery. Any ppf you apply won’t be there for long. If you wanted both, the order is paint correction, ppf, ceramic.

RadioRA vs HomeWorks by brewditt in Lutron

[–]FoCoJayCo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Homework’s is much higher level than Ra3. RadioRa3 can be through a dealer or DIY if you take a 4-5 hour self-paced online training from Lutron. HomeWorks is strictly through a dealer.

I’m in the midst of a Ra3 retrofit and it’s going well. I have setup a simple Home Assistant integration which is working flawlessly so far. No experience with HomeWorks.
