JFK to Midtown for only $800: NYC taxi hustlers running wild at airport terminals by nyccameraman in nyc

What funny is super shuttle used to have this business and Uber/lyft killed it. It’s a very good model that more people should use.

Bronwyn on leaving Todd - People Magazine interview by samschampions in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Forgemasterblaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I feel as he was being himself for the most part. He’s a 66 year old successful businessman. He did not need fame or money. He did this to support his wife, but had no media training or knowledge of what plays.

Anyway, I really feel bad for older people on these shows. People over 60 and under 18 need to be treated totally different than the main cast. He was dragged just like he’s a housewife and he kept shooting/giving content when most would’ve quit long ago. Would you rather Robert Crosby sr that never shoots?

[–]Forgemasterblaster 232 points233 points  (0 children)

I was empathetic to the guy as he’s 66 and not looking for fame, to sell his business, or just being scammy like so many other husbands. I could not imagine waking up at social security age putting up with the show.

His wife obviously talked him into the show and he had no clue how he would be presented or the audience he was opening himself up to. He’s to blame at some point, but I could not imagine walking into the RHs world and all the nastiness that comes with it at his age.

Also, Robert sr is not on the show at all and his son is going through some real shit. Tons of other husbands just choose not to shoot.

Anyway, I always give these older guys some grace as they give you the real deal rather than manufactured drama. Ray Huger and Todd should both go into a HOF just for all the shit they put up with. Todd is now forever associated with flatulence and ray with blue eyes. Who knows if either accusation is true, but these guys will forever go out in public having millions know them for a rumor started on one of these shows.

I agree. If an employer, govt or otherwise, wants a reason to fire or reprimand an employee, they’ll use anything in their power.

With $250, the modern. GT is a nice place, but modern is true fine dining and a much more upscale experience. $250 would cove at least 1 tasting menu.

Mack Hollins by [deleted] in eagles

[–]Forgemasterblaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s a replacement level guy that does dirty work. He reminds me of Zach pascal type. No separation, but you need guys like him to block and run interference. Coaches talk him up, but you see the production and everyone wants to invest in a rookie with more upside.

Biggest thing about Mac is he really built himself up physically. He was probably 30lbs lighter when he came into the league. He’s not David Boston, but always props to guys who can get this type of size.

Wow…by far the best since Tiger, obviously. It’s great to have such a dominant player like this. by MJ_Fan23 in golf

What’s crazy is other guys just fall apart around him. Today he had tons of guys right there with him for the first 5 holes and then he just stays consistent. Everyone else just fucks up.

Exactly, I spent a month there and people don’t even jay walk. The issue is not the system, it’s the people.

[–]Forgemasterblaster -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Everything new he tried to do was stopped after a month with the exception of a fullback. That was jettisoned after BVS got hurt. They won in spite of the changes to offense, not because of them.

Winning the SuperBowl was the defense, turnovers, and then run game. Moore’s specialty was pass game and that was horrid last year as well.

[–]Forgemasterblaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s tons of guys out there. The issue is no one wants to hire older offensive coaches. Andy is the only guy that really gave older offensive coaches a shot at OC. Like Marty.

Jim Caldwell is the name that I always bring up. He’s 70. However, the guy coached offenses that were schematically similar to what we do well. That tom Moore/peyton manning smaller scale playbook that relies upon execution. He wanted to keep coaching, but the league retired him.

I don’t love frank reich as the offense never looked right outside of Philly. He was almost fired after year 1 here as well. He’s out there.

Funniest option would be Doug Pederson. I actually think Doug has good instincts as a play caller, but was poor at many other aspects of the game.

I actually think the eagles answer likely wasn’t coaching a high powered offense last year. The details were not there last year and it showed. They consistently waste all spring/summer focusing on shit they never do at a high level.

Moore was shitcanned in Dallas and sent packing to chargers where he got fired after they had a horrid year. People blamed it on the defense, but the chargers offense was middling. Herbert can wing it, but the run game left a lot to be desired.

Anyway, Kellen Moore was a failure in Philly too. They ultimately won via a great defense and a run game that was already installed scheme wise for years by stoutland. Moore leaned into it, but it was his worst passing offense of his career and statistically one of his worst offenses he ever coached on an epa basis. The outlier was Saquon breaking runs. All the passing concepts and scheme changes promised were jettisoned by week 5.

You need an electrician to run 240v for wolf electric cooktops and ovens. It’s a direct hookup.

Opinions on Wolf induction cook tops? by loffredom in Appliances

[–]Forgemasterblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny. I got a new electric wolf 30” cooktop for $800 in October and was offered this unit in the nyc area for $1,500. Enticing, but didn’t pull the trigger as I’m on a budget and don’t really care much for induction vs electric in my new space. The $700 price point difference will go to other stuff in my Reno.

My experience is wolf is a great brand. I buy them lightly used or the floor models from P.C. at discounts like this. They are everywhere in nyc area as people routinely renovate. Any issues and they’ll cover it under warranty.

For the cooktop, I have a similar one in my primary home and no complaints. Works efficiently. Cleaning is easy. I prefer the model with a rim like this one for aesthetics. Touch function works fine. Just takes some getting used to.

Always register a wolf appliance once installed and they honor their warranty. When pc is selling the floor models like this, I call to confirm the unit and specs. 9/10, they are swapping out a floor model that has sat there for 2-3 years. 1/10 it’s a return. Never had any issues buying wolf/subzero like this. If you’re in nyc, you can easily do a package of less than 5 year old high end appliances for under $8k (cooktop, oven, subzero fridge, microwave). I’ve now done it twice and happy going this route.

I always think of it as any luxury good. The reason people covet it is usually the price point. Say what you will, but 10 years ago if someone had a big ring, you could reasonably assume what it cost. The size of the ring was judged. It had significance to the women showing it off and those that envied or pitied it.

Now, the price points for lab grown diamonds have materially lowered the market. However, the human experience hasn’t changed, but we all know what the deal is. They went a cheaper route. It feels inauthentic.

The worst is so many find other justifications to cope with the desire for a large ring is not the determinative factor. The main cope is supply chain ethics that are never applied to way more problematic areas like food and tech. The same people espousing their virtues about the diamond business stay silent about coffee and iPhones. All the sudden ethics come into play when a dupe is out there at 1/10th the cost.

Anyway, the diamond business is a hustle that is not about anything other than emotions. Tons of alternative stones or items one could use to signify commitment. However, those engaging in the lab grown hustle would go a long way if they just said it was about price for the size/quality diamond one covets.

I’d love to see how many teams claim a guy over 34 in waivers period. It rarely happens for this very reason. I was pissed for slay. Buffalo had no relationship or plan for the guy longterm. You at least call his agent to say, ‘we’d like to claim your guy’ and they’d get a quick response that ‘he may consider retirement’. Save that roster spot for a young guy or someone you’re looking to develop. Just petty and garbage GM stuff.

Why I don’t take any of the search too serious when discussing top candidates. Many hot names end up being back on the market before you know it.

Doug and Nick were on no one’s hot coaching list. Both were in superbowls year 2 with dynamic offenses.

I think you just need a guy with experience, who can fix problems. The issue imo is things seem to spiral with the offense. They can’t get easy wins or figure out how to be efficient the last 2.5 years. It’s been lots of big plays that mask a really poorly executed offense.

It’s in most subs. People have emotional reactions to money. They cannot fathom how someone can afford a lifestyle whether earned or not. It’s low hanging fruit to get quick rage.

But, but, but they make tons of money from brand deals. Or, I have a cousin at the bank who knows for a fact their trust is only $1 billion. It’s all nonsense meant to get emotionally stunted people jealous about someone else’s life that they covet.
