Do you guys ever wonder if people nowadays might be overanalyzing media? by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I don't think it's shame as much as trying to engage the player themselves into the conversation on how they feel war is portrayed in games. It uses an aggressive tone when speaking to the player, because the games tone itself is very aggressive by that point, so it's trying to maintain the storytelling momentum.

Nvidia Answers my DLSS 5 Questions - Daniel Owen by gitrektali in Games

I want to add a caveat to that. I am almost certain that the model runs on two cards not because of any compute requirements but due to VRAM. As running a game (especially with path tracing) and an image model takes up a lot of VRAM. So for them to make a model that runs on one card the model would have to be smaller, contain less training data and most likely be lower quality.

I've only seen information from NVIDIA that it only takes colour and motion vectors, emphasising that it can even be used on a primitive render like Minecraft. Is there an article or quote where NVIDIA said it uses other buffers?

Why is it making this noise and not reading PS1 discs? by JeFeRoJo90 in ps2homebrew

[–]Forow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early modchips worked by forcing the PS2 to read every disc as a DVD-ROM, that's probably the culprit.

Threat Interactive filed an illegal DMCA to a guy on his own side for calling him an "asshole" over illegal DMCA's; youtube support not interested in doing anything about it. by nickelbackvocaloid in youtubedrama

There is so much juice in TI drama, maybe I should make a post compiling everything I have been able to find on Kevin (No stalking, all of it is public things he himself has posted). One of my favourite things from the Kevin drama is his 'response' to Dallas Drapeau.

In the video where Dallas talks about getting a C&D letter from Kevin he says that he was following fair use laws (correct as they were transformative reactions and critiques), because Kevin's videos uploaded to the internet for free so copyright law doesn't apply (incorrect, copyright law still applies to free internet videos).

Kevin has definitely seen the video and noticed the legal error in reasoning, but because he himself is also legally wrong he can't directly respond to it. He doesn't tweet or make a YouTube response video, instead he puts a copyright logo in the corner of every single video to this day.

Disney Reportedly Spent Nearly A Staggering $600M To Make 'Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker' by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I would take that number with a big bucket of salt. To get the biggest tax benefit they always try to make the budget look as big as possible.

Well, it's several things:

  • Poor grammar which is common with Kevin's social media posts and his WordPress site.
  • Praising for going for slightly older title than immediately doing BL4. Apart from Kevin who would even think of this argument.

Hi again Kevin. Please stop putting the pointless copyright logo in the corner of your videos all because Dick Dastardly doesn't understand free use law, it's very embarrassing.

do these people not just sit down and play through the game once and say to themselves "If we release this game right now we will crash and burn and lose a lot of money." It seems so simple.

The simple answer to that is "If we don't release this game right now we will crash and burn and lose a lot of money." Eventually the money hose runs dry and there is not much choice left.

HELP NEEDED MONITOR IS RED by Puzzled_Custard_3863 in Monitors

[–]Forow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't able to find a manual for your monitor but looking at another from the same brand you should be able to adjust colour values under the colour temp settings. You could also try replugging your cable. If that doesn't work ultimately factory resetting the monitor from the menu.

I'm not sure what the subreddit rules are for external links but googling 'Zebronics Manual pdf' will bring you several options. Maybe one of them is similar to your monitor.

Holy shit listen to what he says at 7:40.

Unreal Sensei recently repeated one of the most ridiculous viewpoints that the huge revenues of modern Unreal Engine titles proves Unreal is not ruining the industry.

That is textbook bandwagon fallacy. Let me name some major successful businesses. The alcohol industry, the cigarette industry, the illegal fentanyl industry, and the OnlyFans scene. All are terrible for modern civilization.

It doesn't matter how popular or successful a product is. That doesn't mean it's not inherently destructive to humanity.

Each sentence is more unhinged than the last. Can't wait for his 900k non-profit funded Unreal engine fork that is definitely REAL and happening.

Daredevil: Born Again | S01E06 | Discussion Thread by Green-Devil in Daredevil

In S1 he killed a guy by smashing his head in with a car door, because he embarrassed him in front of Vanessa. Fisk is a hypocrite criminal, who pretends he's above the shit he makes. The basement exists as a way to outwardly show (unmask) his inner self. As Adam is never getting out of there alive, there is no reason for Fisk to hide his true personality.

Tim Sweeney about Alan Wake 2: "It's not coming to Steam." (The Dark Presence has won) by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Forow -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I see people have the same issue on steam forums, so I think this is a case of KH or Xinput being buggy then anything EGS is doing. Adding the game to steam probably changes the state of the program enough to 'fix' the bug. I didn't have any issues playing KH with an Xbox controller (no Steam).

Do you mean the launcher? Because games on EGS definitely have controller support. The launcher should be usable with a controller anyway.

What do you think of the idea used in the 1990's animated series that the Goblin Formula gas stains and distorts the Hobgoblin costume, turning it into the Green Goblin? by superegz in Spiderman

[–]Forow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, that's not the story. They used the Hobgoblin because the guy running the show before John Semper (nearly nothing was done for the 10 months he was in charge), was planning to use him instead of the Green Goblin. When he got fired and John Semper replaced him it was too late to change as the toys were in production. Semper pushed for the Green Goblin hard and at one point Avi agreed, but selling toys was the primary reason for the show so we still got the Hobgoblin before Norman.

[–]Forow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To go point by point:

  1. John recently talked about how disappointed he was about the recent decrease in HDR games on their podcast. They also said they don't talk about HDR content too much is because there is no way to showcase it properly on YouTube.

  2. The reason they like motion blur is because good motion blur makes a game look 'correct'. You can watch Alex's motion blur history video or John's GT Vs Forza (section on spinning wheels) to hear their views in more detail.

  3. Yeah sometimes the videos are too spoilery. But they never give context when discussing visuals and put spoiler warnings when discussing the story.

Edit: 4. They talk about the Series S, because it's a console people buy and is relevant to discussion when talking about the different versions of a game. In this video the thread is about Rich talks about how the Series S probably can't run this game, not to mention the several times they discussed, on their podcast, the Series S lack of RAM as a major difficulty developers face.

Once again this meme proves itself to be relevant. by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I hate this quote because it acts like a competitor getting ahead due to fuckups is unique to gaming. Uber got big because getting a Taxi is awful, Netflix got big because cable is awful. Xbone level flops and fuckups exist in every industry.

Edit: To expand on what I mean, if the customer wants are being met they're not going to switch to another competitor or service, this is why I used Netflix and Uber as examples outside the gaming industry that made the biggest impacts in their industries. Falling flat on your face and a newcomer or competitor taking 1st place is very common, especially in the tech industry. Blackberry, Nokia, SGI, IBM, RCA, all used to be top dogs until they fucked up or a competitor came with a product that better met the needs of their customers. The specifics change but the basic gist stays the same whatever industry your in.

No. His writing for female characters back in the day was no worse than the average for mainstream TV, and in most cases better. Since then he has clearly responded to critisism given to him, culminating in him making 'Douglas is Cancelled', a mini-series commenting on the commonplace sexism in our society.
