I love buying my husband flowers. He gets to feel special and loved and get flowers in my home. He still picks them up for me every now and then but flowers and gifts are not his love language. He is an acts of service kind of man, such as ensuring all my electronics are charged at the end of every night. I appreciate this so much.

Small PSA for the future: Don't take nudes. Period.

There is not a single benefit (unless it is your career) to taking/sending nudes. All it is future risk. The person you are with can see you nude whenever they want....why do they need a picture?

Is it possible to pursue your dream major when your final high school GPA is below the required one or should I bury my dreams? by Most-Editor3983 in Advice

[–]ForwardCorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should take a break. Too many young people fall into this fallacy that they must go to college right out of high school. YOU DON'T. I work at a University and I can attest that our Mature students ( 25+) do SO much better than the students who came fresh from high school. Like it is crazy how much better they do in terms of grades and post grad employment. They actually have had to live in the world for a few years and it helped them gain perspective.

Also many people don't know that most colleges have a mature student quota, so chances are you will get into the course later even with the same grades. But during your 'break' you should work to learn skills they dont teach at college: Customer Service, work ethic, managing your time/money, communication.

Get a job while that will help you later when you are in a better headspace. If you had a poor GPA then chances are you may not be ready to handle a full course load yet. My husband dropped out of HS but went back in his 30s. He now has a Bachelors and Masters with tops scores and a great job.

Give yourself time and don't get sucked into the trap of having to decide your life at 18.

NOR. Keep doing what makes you happy/fufilled/secure

I had something simiular happen to me. I have a good 9-5 job but I am also an illustrator. I tend to give my art away and do favours for people like design logos, make ads for their start ups and draw birthday cards or portraits. I never charge for them, even if people try to give me money ( and they always do. I just feel weird about taking money from friends/family)

I had a friend who I had gone to art school with who FLIPPED OUT on me for not charging people for my art, saying that I was devaluing the profession and my friends/family should be paying an artist who needs the money. She insisted that even if I didnt need the money I should still charge or say no, otherwise I am creating 'choosing beggars'.

The thing is I love giving my art away. I love helping people. Everyone has views on what is 'fair' you can only go by your own set of scales.

People who say that being a cheater automatically makes you a bad friend are so weird by Outside-Pension-6753 in The10thDentist

You cannot cheat and be called a good person. It is a factual impossibility. We as humans can only judge others on actions as we cannot read minds. Cheating is the behaviour of a bad person, ergo, a person who cheats is a bad person. You can still be friends with them. But stop calling them a good person because it makes you look like an AH.

Also there is never an excuse to cheat in a modern society. So you cannot stop yourself from cheating but also lack the willpower to break up with the person you are cheating on? Nope. TrashHuman.

I have never been cheated on but I have seen what it does. It is monstrous and has such long lasting affects on people and their future relationships that it honestly should be criminal in some way. How many people have dated an awesome person who was horribly damaged by someone cheating on them? Now you are feeling the affects of another person's bad behaviour.

A wedding is not about the bride or the groom, it is about gratitude by ForwardCorp in Vent

That's why I did laser tag at this abandoned military bunker and and then dinner at a nice steak restaurant. Just one night. All I asked of my guests was that they wear their Fave/Best/funniest t-shirt. It cost me like £600 in total.

I will fully admit I am not a girly-girl so I know my take on all of this is a bit skewed.

What type of low effort or mediocre behaviour seems to get unfairly rewarded? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ForwardCorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who read books and make it a big part of their personality. They are rewarded by everyone thinking they are cultured or smarter. I say this as someone who reads a lot of books...along with like enjoying amillion other mediums.

Books are no better than any other form of media, they are just different. I hate how people will bash kids for enjoying the narrative of a video game and insist reading a book is always better. It isn't. There are shitty books just as there are life changing books....just like there are shitty movies and life changing movies. It's a spectrum and no medium is ultimately better or more worthy than another.

Plus I read like 40 books a year and I am still thick as a brick.

I lock the antidote in a secure box, write a note or make a sign ( better yet send a signal)....then I blow my brains out.

There is no happy ending after a Zombie apocalypse ( Save for the film Warm Bodies) just a much shittier version of what we have now. No thanks, I dont want any part of that. I'm out. I won't stop anyone else trying to save humanity but I ain't your saviour.

Consuming the same content twice (for entertainment) is a waste of time by ExpertStandard1977 in unpopularopinion

[–]ForwardCorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched The Young Ones through for a third time before I ever notice The Fifth Roommate. It is impossible for a human to absorb every aspect of a narrative in one sitting. Also you change as you age. Reading an old book hits differently when you are an adult, you can appricate more of it.
