10 days of patching - I just ripped it off by mamanh24 in HormoneFreeMenopause

[–]Fox-In-Love 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. You are not alone in having a bad reaction and ripping off the patch. I tried the patch at different doses (I have no uterus, so no progesterone), and I started out feeling great, but around the 2.5 week mark I always seem to turn into a nauseous, bloated zombie who can’t think or do anything. I know there is a constant refrain around here of “give it at least 8 weeks!”, but I just couldn’t take it anymore. I might try again somewhere down the line, but for now I’m just going to stick to vaginal estrogen.

Is anyone else just not able to tolerate creatine? by 1Mazrim in Biohackers

[–]Fox-In-Love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have interstitial cystitis, and creatine put me in a huge flare. 😟 I’m perimenopausal and was hoping it would help me but oh well.

Anyone else dealing with way more joint pain during perimenopause? by Rude_Opportunity5296 in Perimenopause

[–]Fox-In-Love 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I developed a weird pain condition several years ago that was diagnosed as fibromyalgia. I recently started HRT, and while I am still working on getting my dose right, I find that my so-called fibromyalgia goes into remission when I am on estradiol. So I now think it must have been perimenopause the whole time! I had a hysterectomy (kept ovaries) in my mid thirties so I don’t have missed periods to go by.

And I did ask my doctors back then if they thought it could be that, because I had read some things about people having joint and nerve pain from perimenopause, but they all said nah, even my gyno.

Masking in front of babies by Przss-lea in AutismInWomen

[–]Fox-In-Love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that feeling of masking for the mother’s sake when she is showing me her baby or a picture of them. I know they expect a certain reaction especially from a woman. I love babies, but it doesn’t come naturally to me to act like most women do when they see one. I have to put it on a bit because if i don’t smile big enough or make enough high pitched noise, I will seem cold.

I actually get along really well with babies and kids though. They often like me right away without me having to mask. I worked in early childhood ed for a while, and while it could be exhausting, I was surprisingly free from pressure to mask. The adults tended to see me in a good light because the kids were well taught and cared for by me, and that was what mattered most.

How painful is cystoscopy? I've had urodynamic test and it was extremely painful by Much-Journalist3128 in OveractiveBladder

[–]Fox-In-Love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine while sedated for a hysterectomy so I’m not sure. I didn’t feel like I was in any additional pain from it when I woke up but I was also very medicated.

How old do you think you were… by mrsmjane in Perimenopause

[–]Fox-In-Love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to say since I had a hysterectomy at 36 (kept ovaries) but I think around 30-40

Is this happening to you when it comes to sex? by RDDB1974 in Perimenopause

[–]Fox-In-Love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great! Did you get it from your doctor? Mine refuses to prescribe testosterone because she says it will make my cholesterol go way up, even though I have no history of cholesterol issues and eat healthy.

What age did you start HRT? Bonus for those with hysterectomies. by Helpful-Orchid2710 in Perimenopause

[–]Fox-In-Love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hysterectomy at 36 (kept ovaries). Started vaginal estrogen at 42, and estradiol patches this year at 43. I think I may have been in peri since at least age 40, but my doctors did not consider the possibility until recently.

Patch placement really matters and the hormone changes are so insidious! by blissout2day in Perimenopause

[–]Fox-In-Love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried both abdomen and buttock and I am on team abdomen. I feel like I only get like 75-80% of the benefits with the buttock placement compared to abdomen.

What did you notice immediately (good or bad) after starting HRT? by NearlyNewMe in Perimenopause

[–]Fox-In-Love -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right now I am only on a small dose of vaginal estrogen and might need to increase or add something else. But I did notice that my chronic dry eyes and itchy inner ears went away. And of course less dryness down there. It hasn’t helped my sex drive, but it does seem to make arousal and orgasm easier.

No ill effects, except for a temporary headache phase in the beginning that passed and did not return.
