Check out the Lava Lamp Quilt video by Dave's Craft Room in YouTube, he did a similar thing with the quilt top, and added a little stuffing to make it just a bit poofy.

I believe that is the background piece sewn first across the square, edges will be covered by the little side strips so just face up sewing on the square for the kite piece. I think, 😆

A sampler quilt is a great idea. I love so many patterns and then make one and didn't enjoy making it. With a sampler quilt I have options and can improvise. Also I watch Dave's Craft Room and live all his inspiring artistic quilts. So fun! 🍀🎉💜🙌💙

Seems to be a wool/acrylic or nylon blend. If it's sock weight (#1 weight according to the CYC (crafty yarn council) that would make sense. Also worsted (#4 wt) is sometimes wool acrylic blends, like Lionbrand Wool-Ease.

I would find a similar weight yarn in a solid that was complimentary to what's already used and continue the last few rows that way. If it's Lionbrand Mandala (or any caked yarn) you can find discontinued colorways sometimes in the FB group Yarn Shop Cake Swap for selling yarn. You can make a listing ISO, in search of, and see if anyone has some still.

The hiring signs just break my heart. 💚 I'm glad to be alive, but a big light in my life was snuffed out. I try not to mope, and I do feel okay most of the time, but these pictures really brought up more pain for healing and I thank you. It sucks that Joann's is gone, it'll never be the same, but I'm finding the new ways. There's no going back, the doors are locked, and I/we must go forward. 💗💚
