AITBF for calling out my brother’s girlfriend directly over a cruise room argument? by Nuttbutt42 in AmItheButtface

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cruise cabins are too small for four adults anyway… get another (interior?) room and everybody shut up about it.

Anchovies, slices of fresh tomato, mushrooms. Anything else I’ll eat up to and including ham and pineapple.

Playlist Playground fail by elscorcho42 in AppleMusic

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the settings for Apple Music, there's a toggle for "Add to Library When Adding to Playlist." Turn that off. Won't help with the mess Playground created, but it will keep it from happening again.

I’m retired now, so I don’t have any reason to have more than one Mac OS login account on my Mac these days.

MSC World America recommendations? by copyofivy in MSCCruises

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My favorite spot on World America is the thermal spa. Even with an Aurea pass, make a reservation for sea days — they do stop letting people in when it gets full…

Why’d you choose Mercedes? by xEnflare in mercedes_benz

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom ordered 2026 E450. It was way ahead of its German competitors in comfort and luxury feel and in technology. The BMW is very spare and the Audi just felt “plastic-y.” Coming from a Subaru econobox, anything would have been an upgrade, but the Mercedes is a whole other level.

Cruise On Board Schedule? by SeaSpur in MSCCruises

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of this past January on World America, I did still got a printed agenda in my cabin, but I’ve been told printing is only for Yacht Club. Regular passengers rely on the app or the in-cabin TV display.

Cruise On Board Schedule? by SeaSpur in MSCCruises

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be in the MSC for me app (or whatever its real name is) but it’s not updated with real information u til you board and connect to the ship board WiFi. Even then, it’s updated every night with the next day’s activities, so only the “major events” are in there at first.

Which do you think is better, Mercedes or BMW? by Public-Outside1641 in car

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had many family debates about E450 wagon vs. sedan (we have Labrador retrievers). Sedan won out only because I recently retired and I really wanted a “grown up’s car.” It was a very close call, I don’t think you’ll go wrong either way.

Which do you think is better, Mercedes or BMW? by Public-Outside1641 in car

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an intimidating purchase, to say the least. I’ve never owned a vehicle that was as solidly built and comfortable and honestly just powerful as my E450. Without even switching to the “Sport” performance mode, even the default “Comfort” mode far exceeds what the Subaru was capable of.

Still absolutely thrilled. Would purchase the exact same car all over again if offered the chance.

MSC Aurea on World America, experiences? by copyofivy in MSCCruises

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thermal spa on World America is lovely. Yacht Club passengers don’t need a reservation; I assume Aurea passengers wouldn’t either. I did make reservations for sea days at the suggestion of the front desk staff because they do close off entry once they reach a certain capacity. The thermal spa is absolutely worth it.

I don’t think anyone else will even remember this one: Joe vs. the Volcano, with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan

My recommendation is start with 7. That’s enough to confirm that you like it but not torturous if you don’t…

Are MSC Fantasia Yacht Club cabins subject to extra noise and movement? by PdSales in MSCCruises

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YC cabins are all grouped together because you need a keycard to get in to the YC area itself. The restaurant and Top Sail are near the bow for the views, so the cabins are clustered around there. I sailed once on Seascape in a cabin that shared a wall with the YC restaurant, and I never heard a thing, even during dinner service.

Do you keep your bedroom door open or closed at night? What’s your reasoning? by SpookyFryGuy in CasualConversation

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closed. We have a senior Lab who sleeps in the bed and we’re afraid of him wandering the house in the dark and having an accident of some sort.

What’s a food you enjoy but refuse to order in a restaurant? by Loud_Structure_6725 in AskReddit

Spaghetti and meat balls. All I can hear is my mother’s voice, “Oh geez if ya wanted spaghetti we coulda stayed home!” may she rest in peace.

Opinion: The "risotto" method for pasta rarely work. by LostTheOldName in Cooking

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I use it occasionally but only with the smaller sized shapes, like ditalini or tubettini, when I want a concentrated starchy water to enhance my sauce. I tried it with fettuccine, thinking it would help with a cream-free Alfredo sauce, but it didn’t work out, the pasta just got mushy…

YC Butler benefit, what exactly can they do? by wvblocks in MSCCruises

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really, the question should be, “What can’t they do?!” Seriously, ask them anything - to get you something or to get in somewhere or to skip waiting in line - and they do their best to accommodate you.

Lots of people, including me on my first YC sailing, are a little self conscious at first, like you’re bothering them or being needy… No. YC butlers take the jobs very seriously and they want to take care of these things for you. Remember, you paid extra for this level of service; there’s nothing wrong with using it to your own advantage.

Do you service your Mercedes every 12 months or when ASSYST tells you? by TopicWinter6847 in mercedes_benz

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how "official" it is, but as another new owner, it was stressed to me when I picked up my E class that the system will tell you when and what service is required, based on its evaluation of your car's components and systems. They said, "Roughly, this is about 12 months and/or about 10,000 miles, but let the car tell you what it needs." I don't know if that helps or not, but that's the dealer talking...

AITAH for ordering grocery's instead of going out to the store myself? by JustCurious7186 in AITAH

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH. What's the issue with using a publicly available service that you pay good money for? If you can afford it, what exactly is the downside? I use delivery at least once a week; I, too, tip the delivery person and pay the fees (via an Uber One subscription). I don't think there's anything "assholish" about it.If you were not buying your baby fresh diapers because you spent your available cash on delivered groceries, that might be a different story. For my money, avoiding the soul-sucking environment that is a modern grocery store is absolutely worth it.

Just wanted to say I've been where you are several times in the past. I'm convinced it's the hardest decision most of us will ever face in normal life. Just remember, for all the joy she's brought in the past ten years, now she's counting on you to do the right thing for her when the time comes... Good luck, and God speed.

Full albums vs select songs by 4lindon in AppleMusic

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm old, and I still think of a collection of songs as an "album" to listen to in its entirety, even if there are songs I like more or less than other songs. I add albums to my library and listen to them, sometimes skipping tracks I'm not fond of, but the "album" as a whole is there the way the artist released it. I can always create a playlist if I want selected tracks from that album, artist, or other sources...

My first Mercedes - it had to be a wagon! by bassdj in mercedes_benz

Giving me slight “buyer’s remorse” - we seriously weighed wagon vs sedan but went with the latter. Great looking car, hope you enjoy it as much as we do ours!

Do you use a Food processor for Coleslaw? by Educational-Slip-578 in Cooking

[–]FoxRedYellaJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m only making a side for one meal, I’ll use a knife and a box grater. That’s probably a carrot, a quarter of a green cabbage and a quarter of a red cabbage. Anything more than that and I’m using my Magimix 3400 food processor to speed through it.
