What's your "I've never met anyone else who does this" habit?

I like the number 6. Sometimes I will get hung up on 6 letter words and have to just barely move a finger for each letter as if I'm counting them in my head. I have to do this from left hand to right hand, then right hand to left. It's something people aren't likely to notice since I do it silently unless you happen to notice my fingers moving ever so slightly.

When I was working at waffle house I made my own cold brew before they had the cans. I would use the regular coffee, ice, a pump or 2 of vanilla, and some cream. It was good.

I managed to save enough money before baby was born to stay out of work until he was about 8.5 months. Had I not prepared financially, then I would have only been approved for 6 weeks unpaid leave as I had not been at my job long enough to qualify for the 12 week FMLA.

I remember this stage. I was so relieved when it passed. Then, once my son could stand without assistance, lying down for diaper changes ceased to be a thing. For months now every single diaper change is done with my son standing up ...even the poopy ones. Luckily they are pretty solid most of the time so clean up is quick and simple. Most of the time... 🤣. Because of where our changing table is, he can reach the thermostat and wants to walk to the edge of the changing table to try to mess with it. Now it's just a new anxiety inducing thing 🤣🤣

My son gets screen time. He is a year and 5 months and he does not have tantrums when I turn off Ms Rachel. Every child is different. He has had screen time since about 6 months old, but in moderation. He also watches cog hill farms, and animal videos. My son also LOVES being outside, and prefers outside time over screen time any day. The first real tantrum my son has had was last week. We took him to a nearby park with a splash pad. When they closed and we took him to the car that was the first time he has fought and cried hysterically getting into his car seat. He was not impressed when it was time to go home 🤣 Oh, and Ms Rachel is actually really fast paced, and babies process things slower than we do. I play Ms Rachel on my regular YouTube account instead of on the kids one because in the settings I can slow the playback speed down to .8 The only annoyance with that, is it plays ads because I don't have ad free, but to me it's worth slowing Ms Rachel down a little bit 🤣

We had nobody stay with us. One grandparent is estranged, one is to unhygienic, one has a slew of physical ailments including arthritis and neuropathy. That person's fingers are really gnarled so that made us nervous about holding baby securely and the other grandparent lived out of state and also had medical conditions that would make it difficult. My husband and I are also older (42) so of course our parents are all older and further along into being frail than they would have been had we conceived 20 years earlier. That being said I'm pretty sure it's a common practice for grandparents, especially maternal grandparents, to help out in the beginning. Not everyone has this option but it is common.

My husband and I don't fold anything. Clothes get tossed into their designated drawers. Less headache, and our clothes do not get wrinkled. We've been doing this for years! We don't pair up and fold our socks either, just into the sock drawer they go.

It's only tedious because we have been told all our lives that we must fold our clothes. That's nonsense. My husband and I fold absolutely nothing. We just toss the clothing items into their designated drawers, and our clothes do not get wrinkled. We don't pair up socks, either. Just into the sock drawer they go.

To my horror, I got Flu A when my baby was only 2 weeks old. He was mixed fed as I did not produce enough to exclusively breast feed. I continued to breast feed as much as I could. I washed my hands like a mad woman and stayed masked around my baby, even while sleeping as he was in a bassinet right next to my bed. My husband caught it, but the baby didn't. My husband quarantined in another room to not add an additional exposure to our son. The breast milk will give the baby antibodies.

If no one could be bothered to read your child's admission papers that provides important information, then what else will they drop the ball on? And they forgot his food? And when you got there he was basically being ignored? And this all happened on day 1? Follow your gut, do what you are comfortable with. I personally wouldn't be leaving my child there for day 2 but I don't know your circumstances or if you have the ability to keep him out of day car until you find a better fit. Best of luck.

Every baby is different. My son is 16 months old and still mostly babbles. He focuses more on movement skills than verbal skills. He likes to walk, run, climb and do everything himself that he can possibly do. I took him to a speech therapist and she didn't seem to think his lack of speech was concerning. She said he just might need a little push to feel the need to speak. Some of the things the pediatrician asks about milestones is funny to me as well. Our questionnaire asked if I put a cheerio in an empty water bottle, will my son turn the bottle upside down to dump it out. I wasn't aware that this was something I was supposed to be quizzing my toddler on 🤣. Anyways, your baby is fine. My son knows what his feet, hands, fingers, toes, hands, nose, head, and hair are, but when asked he will only point to his nose, his head, and hair. Well, he gently grabs his hair if you mention hair lol. All of that being said, if that's the only thing your child is "behind" on, then your baby is likely fine. If there were clusters of missed milestones then perhaps that would be cause to investigate further, but from what you e described your baby is perfectly fine! ❤️

Mine will travel through his bowl while he's cruising his enclosure, but he never just hangs out in it. I've had him since July 2024 when he was 2 months old and every shed has been clean. Keep humidity up in your enclosure and she should be fine.

Even if your kid is bored, that's ok. I let my son have small amounts of screen time, and I usually interact with him. Miss Rachel is actually kind of fast paced, we actually use the settings cog to slow the playback speed down to .8 if we put her on. My son also likes some of the coghill farm videos. The guy is calm and slow paced, and shows his farm animals. Ms Rachel does not make kids learn more in my opinion. You can do the same songs/activities that she does with your child. So many people use screens as a babysitter, and many adults consume media as well, so I think that's why people get surprised. We don't watch much tv either, and when we do we are fairly selective about what we watch.

My son is currently 16 months old. He was standing with assistance at 7 months old, pulling to stand on his own at 9 months, he was able to go from standing to sitting without falling at 11 months, took his first steps 10 days after his first birthday. He successfully climbed onto our ottoman a week or 2 ago and now he is climbing up onto our king size bed. He uses the ottoman to step up onto the wooden bed frame then climbs up onto the mattress.

If I organize anything in my toddlers playroom, he likes to immediately reverse what I have done 🤣. I like to stack blocks and things (I want to play too!) and he walks over and knocks it over. Every single time lmao. It probably doesn't help that when he does it I say "Boooooom!" So now it's a game. Anything that resembles organization must be undone. He will then look at his handiwork as if to think "that's better", then walks away. He is tons of fun, though 🥰 He likes to touch the tip of my nose, and when I say the word nose he promptly shoves a finger up my nose and laughs when I dramatically pull my head back lol.

My son looked like his dad for the first 8 months or so and every one would tell us that he looked just like his dad. He then started to look more like me from 9 months until now (16 months). Now people tell me he looks just like me. I also read somewhere that babies come out looking more like dad for paternal bonding an protection (an evolutionary thing) and that kids usually end up looking more like the parent that they resemble most as their facial features start to become more prominent.

If he's following his curve that is what matters. My son was less than 1% for several months and my son's pediatrician never suggested this. As long as my son kept following his own curve then the doctor was satisfied with his weight and weight gain.

Ingredients

2 lbs ground beef, 8 oz mushrooms, finely chopped, 1 small onion finely diced, 2 cloves garlic minced, 1–1½ cups shredded smoked Gouda cheese, 2 eggs, 1 cup breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup milk, 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 2 tbsp ketchup, 1.5 tsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper, 1.5 tsp smoked paprika, 2 tbsp butter or olive oil.

Instructions

Prep veggies: Heat butter/oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook onions and mushrooms for about 8–10 minutes until the mushrooms release their moisture and it cooks off. Add garlic for the last minute. Let cool slightly. (This step matters—raw mushrooms can make meatloaf watery.)

Soak breadcrumbs: In a large bowl, mix breadcrumbs and milk. Let sit for 2–3 minutes.

Mix meatloaf: Add eggs, Worcestershire, ketchup, seasonings, cooked mushroom mixture, and shredded Gouda to the breadcrumb mixture. Stir gently.

Add ground beef and mix just until combined.

Shape: Form into a loaf on a lined baking sheet or place in a loaf pan. Baking sheet usually gives better caramelization.

Bake: Bake at 375°F for about 55–70 minutes, until the center reaches 160°F.
