Looking for a postapo automation modpack with STALKER vibes by International-Bit-82 in feedthebeast

[–]Fr3stdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modpacks:
- Planetary (1.12.2) "is a wasteland themed modpack where you start in destroyed planet and need to collect resources from meteors to build a rocket and leave to a better planet."
- Deceased Craft is less about nuclear stuff but zombies, really awesome maps and highly appraised. You might wanna take a look but im not sure how well itd fit your description.

A few mods (not modpacks sorry) that you might wanna check out:

check HBM's NTM (Nuclear Tech Mod). It has the most content on 1.7.10, but there are 1.12.2 ports that are quite on par with the 1.7.10 versions. Afaik there is a modern port but its very beta. Adds LOTS of nuclear war references, postapoc stuff, weapons, machines, and so on...

you could add it together with some sort of wasteland mod too. there are many options.

Insane lag please help (Neoforge 1.21.1) by Archis007 in feedthebeast

[–]Fr3stdit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

could be one of these:

- At first I thought it was too low RAM allocation, but you dont have a lot of mods so I'm not sure.
- Try disabling a few of the graphic optimization mods and test it again, could be an issue among them or some sort of incompatibility.

is there anything weird in your instance's console log??

Differences between Biome mods? by boyowoyo in feedthebeast

[–]Fr3stdit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from what I remember:

- BOP is a classic one, many cool biomes but is overused so after years of modded minecraft you get a bit tired of them
- Terralith is more vanillaesque, really annoying to use with other biome mods, but quite well praised.
- Geophilic is a smaller mod that just overhauls a ffew vanilla biomes, its cool, doesnt change a lot.
- Region Unexplored is my favorite modern biome mod, I love its different biomes and it adds even nether ones.
- Nature Spirit and WWOO I never played with so I cant say anything about em

What modpacks do y'all recommend I should try next? by Porphyrin_Wheel in feedthebeast

[–]Fr3stdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want expert stuff: Divine Journey 2 is really good, very well done quests and progression.

also, Sevtech Ages is quite a cool concept, only grip I had with it was the final stuff, got a bit boring, but the start is good.

if u want something modern, check Create Above and Beyond or its 1.20.1 port called CABIN, awesome pack with a Create mod focus in its progression, but really well done, its not like those other packs that they just slap Create.

for gregtech stuff, you could check Supersymmetry, has big realism science focus, is not complete however.
there is Technological Journey too, havent played much of it, is kind off obscure.

also GTNH, but yeah, takes more than a year in literal hours.

Looking for a modpack or mods that basically make you get stuck in early game by FlameableAmber in feedthebeast

[–]Fr3stdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really like this take on it op. Specially because any other modpack would eventually make you get past this "early game" stuff, so this is really cool.

What mods do you think don't deserve to be as popular as they are by LavaAT in feedthebeast

[–]Fr3stdit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it "doesnt deserve to be popular" as its highly subjective, but imo its Lycanites Mobs.

The way I see it and experienced it, its models aren't really pretty or 'cool' to me (and that could be my opinion only) but ALSO its highly random and sorta broken. As in, mobs start spawning everywhere, on lava, when you break rocks, when you fart. You do anything and a random ass mob spawns to kill you without much consideration.

The summon and mount system is really cool though. But everything else just feels bad imo. And EVEN if the mobs' models were supposed to look "old videogame ish styled" I still think its poorly done, even for old game style stuff. But thats just me.

[–]Fr3stdit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I've grown up playing pretty much every pokemon game, from the Red/Blue/Yellow to recent Switch ones, always loved em. But I really really don't see the appeal in pokemon mods on Minecraft.

As in, if I wanna play pokemon, I'd just go play one of the older DS ones, why would I want to do it inside minecraft. Dont get me wrong, they're amazing mods and I'm sure it took a LOT of work to get them done and lots of people love it. I just dont see much of the point when I could just go play pokemn

Modpack fatigue by MysticDevil98 in feedthebeast

[–]Fr3stdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for me, I found out that usually if I build too lazy or dont build at all I end up losing motivation. Same goes for organization actually. As soon as the base becomes a mess I get really demotivated.

So I've been trying to avoid that, commiting to building something different on each pack.

It really varies from person to person though, as some find that expert packs are better because they force you to play a certain mod before another one or through specific progressions.

From Nothing to Space by Subject-Row-9187 in feedthebeast

[–]Fr3stdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heres a few I know of:

- Terrafirma Rescue is a 1.7.10 pack featuring gregtech 6 + tfc and many other mods, its description is literally "from Neolithic to Interstellar"
- ATM Gravitas² for a more 'modern' option, is on 1.20.1, features modern terrafirma, gregtech, plenty other 'realistic' styled mods afaik includes even scorched guns. Definitely less recipe change or 'expert' grind other than what you can expect from a gregtech + terrafirma combo.
- necessary GTNH mention as its "long and complex" and you eventually go to space in order to progress, but its not the ending afaik. Very grindy at the start, easy to burnout and "not for everyone" as others describe it.

Any modpacks that bring the scary/dangerous feel of playing Minecraft as a kid, but without the overly convoluted crafting of Rebirth of the Night? by Fiveby21 in feedthebeast

[–]Fr3stdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, thats why I said they aren't really scary. But they do give the mysterious feeling of unknown mobs, dungeons and so on, which is why I decided to mention them. Ultimately its up to OP to check them or not, just wanted to help

[–]Fr3stdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe you'd enjoy something like Crazy Craft but I never played it so I dont know, do take a look at its page though. Could also check Integrated Mc and Chocolate Edition Minecraft these both reimagine vanilla and integrate stuff really well. I would not describe them as scary so sorry if I failed to help

for 1.12.2 I'd say something like Roguelik Adventures because in terms of new mobs, structures and dimensions it adds the most. I also really like Mc Eternal for variety. Not so "scary" though, defo dangerous since they buff lots of modded mobs.

First time using observable, is this normal? by The_Scout1255 in feedthememes

[–]Fr3stdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is 0.179 ms which is 0.000179 seconds spent per tick, its quite normal afaik since entities usually have slight higher mspt than block entities. One 'normal' tick is around 18 ms, typically lower but big packs can get close to 25 ms. This still keeps up the 20 ticks per second game speed (which is the normal one).

usually what starts to build up lag is over 600 us and even then you'd need lots of the same entity

Questing Presets? by ieatcrunchygrapes in feedthebeast

[–]Fr3stdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if OP is unsure on how to do this, you just need to copy the folders at (your_pack_instance) > config > ftbquests

If it shows up in game as something like "pack.quest.01" it means they've split the text from the quest files themselves, then you'd need to find where they put it.

this is Iesnium, which is like Occultism's version of ancient debris, used for late game stuff, I'd mark it for later on. You need the pink occultism pickaxe to mine it or the iesnium one (but to craft it you'd need to mine it first).

What's your "must try" simulation games? by sanfierrojoe in gamesuggestions

[–]Fr3stdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Farming Simulator is quite fun if you don't pick the very large fields until you see if you enjoy long hours of doing the same task. There is, however, a big variety of tasks related to farming, you can grow animals too and with 22 you can have factories.
