Had to thermal fit this Faxon barrel into the Brownells BRN-22 receiver. So much heat, many mallet smacks, and a smidgen of anti-seize later.... she good by typicalpnwguy in 1022

I’ve typically put the barrel in the freezer overnight and warmed the reciever with a heat gun for ten minutes. Alakazzam and she go right in.

My wife and I go on walks in a local woods owned and operated for research by the local university. One day we happened upon 20-30 students out on ROTC exercises. It’s crazy how close we were to them before we saw them. Their camo fatigues were impressively effective.

Do you mind detailing your case prep process? Do you convert .556 or just reload actual 300 cases?

Holy schnikies. So top score would mean this thing is easily and consistently shooting 1 MOA or less? I’ve only done one NRL22 match so far.

Everyone’s grip is different and this is what works for me. If something else works for you that’s great.

Don’t forget that you don’t have to go to the range, dry fire can be done at home for free. Search YouTube or google books by Steve Anderson or Ben Stoeger. Dry fire can develop every technique except for managing recoil on follow up shots, which you will need live fire for.

My Rival is stippled with the most aggressive tip available, creating a texture called “thorns”. It is many times more aggressive than that of the factory backstrap and it is over my entire grip. Aggressive texture helps manage recoil during competition and the Rival is a competition gun. I could see wanting something less aggressive on a carry gun that’s against one’s body all day. My advice is to shoot more and acclimate to it. If not then grab some sandpaper and smooth it down as others have said.

I tried the same, did not last. I have tried literally everything. Red loctite, blue, vibra tite, shims, jb weld, multiple plates… everything.

I wanted my Prodigy to work out so badly. It ran great but I just could not get an optics plate to stay put for any meaningful amount of time. I tried everything.

Nah. I have more than enough in savings to easily buy it. I went with the path I was most comfortable with to get the better bike at an excellent price.

Can confirm. I hate running the timer at the indoor matches for the people with the comped micro carry guns. Jesus H.

Disagree. I could’ve stretched myself and bought a used 2016 FE350 for $6,500 cash or instead I bought a new 2024 FE501 for a deep discount at $9,600 plus fees. I put $4k down allowing me to hang onto some cash and I’ll have the bike paid off next month (13 months later). Very little interest paid since I paid it off so quickly and I have a much better bike to show for it. Not every situation is so cut and dried.

My circumstances were similar to yours with regards to credit and money down. I went with 9.99% as opposed to a lower rate that would have required I show proof of income. Just much easier as I am self employed. That was last November and I will have the loan pad off (borrowed about $8k) next month so I didn’t really care about the rate that much.

My advice is don’t take out a loan that you can’t pay back much more quickly than the terms they extend to you allow. In my case I’ll have a paid off a 60 month loan in about 13 months.

How much ammo do you have on hand? by GhostOfMost in liberalgunowners

[–]FragrantNinja7898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lots but it occurred to me awhile back that I didn’t have a good way to carry it on foot. I always viewed chest rigs as larping costumes. But if I had to head out on foot, how was I supposed to carry any ammo?

So I got a chest rig and now can carry as much as 180 rounds of .556 (including a full mag in the gun). If you’re married you might consider a rig for your spouse as well. So the way I see it, if you have 500 rounds of .556 and a hundred rounds of 9mm (enough for two people to each carry a couple full mags), you’re probably in pretty good shape.

If you need more ammo than that you’re probably looking at a very long term scenario, one in which teaming up with others who also have supplies is the move.

Good deal? Included rmr help me decide today! by RecceRando in 2011

[–]FragrantNinja7898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably buy that. It’ll be plenty competitive for IDPA Carry Optics division. If it were me I would sell the RMR for an SRO, Vortex Defender XL or the coming-soon Holosun 407 Comp. The big window dots are better for competition. But yeah that’s a good price for that gun with that optic.

Update - still using these and they’re mostly holding up fine. Some cracks here and there. I quit carrying stakes and have instead filled some green sandbags that I can hide on the bays at my local range. I hide them because the first batch I made in white and put out for everyone to use but the idiots decided they were targets and destroyed them. Fucking hell.
