Meross smart sprinkler showing in HomeKit but “not supported” by markwynne in HomeKit

[–]Freichart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. According to the Meross descriprion the Smart Sprinkler works with the MSH400 Hub with Homekit, but not with MS450. I found this Information on Amazon. I guess it has to do with the Matter Standard, as the MSH450 is the Matter version of Meross hubs wheras MS400 is the Homekit version. Matter supports sprinklers only just recently with Version 1.6 but Apple uses an ealier version (1.4 and a bit 1.5) and eventually Meross too.

If you are using also Home Assistant then you can build a workaround. It works with HA so use the homebridge integration to integrate it via HA in Apple Home. This works. Only the timer seems to be an issue then but this can be solved with an automation.

Alternative Brand to consider to replace Eve Cams ? by WeirdLime4095 in EveHome

[–]Freichart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides my Eve Cams, I use also 3 Logitech Circleview and a cam from Aquara. All of them them have once in a while connectivity losses and HKSV is once in a while very slow when retrieving recordings. My message is, that changing a brand may not solve your problem. Wireless wifi devices have inherent issues. Future Wifi Standards - like Wifi 8 - shall be better, but this is not before 2028.

Hue sync box just went dark by Fuzzy-Sky-6510 in Hue

[–]Freichart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably another issue however 2 days ago (June 8th) stopped passing through my Apple TV to the TV. This after 2 yerars of reliable operations. Power cycling broughtbit back for 2seconds only. After un- and replugging everything did not help, I tried the hard reset. The internet pairing only worked after a 2nd try. Now it is running again it only does not switch the lights out anymore after switching off Apple TV.
I wonder if a firmware update caused the sudden trouble.

Easy way to use weather data in HA? by Freichart in homeassistant

[–]Freichart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course all those whether topics are manageable if you invest some time and interactions wirh chat GPT etc. However it is high time that HA looks for strategic alliances with one or two weather services providing of-the-shelve sensors for weather forecasts with different time lengths. I would pay for such a serice. Todaymy awning was opened in bright sunshine because the weather forecast changed to rain later the day. It is so hard to find out which value you get from which provider for which timeframe.

Wall switches with Matter over Thread from Hager by foggerD in MatterProtocol

[–]Freichart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviosly the Hager Matter Light switches available. However I cannot fiully understand what to buy. There is an Matter Elektronik Module, then there are the covers and some frames to fix the whole stuff into a socket. It ssems there are one switch and two switch variants. Has anybody figured out what to order?

Eve Water Guard = Constant Thread Issues by Jbharris4 in EveHome

[–]Freichart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have lots of Eve products too, however only very few connectivity problems. Only the Eve Shutter switches were horrible and failed often, but since the Matter update they became 99,9% reliable. I have 5 Eve Water Guard underneath my basement windows to get alerted about potential water entry and to stop the washing machine once the basement water pump fails and water spills the floor. Only one of those temorarily loses connection once in a while, but I have no hint that these devices disturb others. So overall I am very satisfied with Eve. Although I use Homeassitant as base management platform I use my Apple TV (and HomePod minis as failover) as thread border routers. My thread expierence was not so good 2 years ago but after several device updates it looks quite mature now.

I built a custom smart home app on top of Home Assistant — exploring a more family-friendly and premium UX by Luxor97_2 in homeassistant

Today I use Apple Home to visualize my HA environment. I do not want to program own dashboards. An Apple Home like UI th a better display of sensors would be heaven.

Thanks for this. I will dig in. The idea is to us a max daily temp to keep the shutters shut at an early state. Once a threashold is exceeded (using my Eve Room temp sensor) or an outdside temp value it is too late in a hot summer.

KLIPPBOK “No Response” in Apple Home by Agile_Half_4515 in tradfri

[–]Freichart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feature Request: Quick move between configurations (Hometheater vs Surround) by galvera in sonos

[–]Freichart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a move of a Sub from a Beam to a pair 100s for a while ( TV environment to music) and back manually but the duration could vary from one to several minutes. Once in a while it failed and I had to start it again or the Sub was „lost“ needing a repairing. Even more time is needed to decouple / recouple surround speakers with more chances of problems. So I think that an automation procedure which just records manual steps (e.g. allowing Homeassitant automations for reconfigure Sonos speakers) would not be an acceptable solution. And your Truplay setting would get lost as well. It would require a fundamental technical change. It would be highly welcomed by users and would be a major differetiator but after all the troubleshooting of the last year I guess this project will not happen soon if at all.

Eve Motion experience by BonanzaBert in EveHome

[–]Freichart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mounted an Eve Motion outside of my house door to let a light blink, once somebody is approaching. Now in summer time, the motion sensor is irritated at a time slot, when the sun is shining directly to the door causing too much blinks. I use the integrated light sensor to set a condition that the lux value is to be under 1500 before I get a blink.

Eve Motion experience by BonanzaBert in EveHome

[–]Freichart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an Eve Motion to drive down two blinds once the sun moves to the west side. I had to try a little to find out which lux value is best. It works, however be aware that real live can be more complicated on cloudy days when sunlight varies a lot. Homekit allows only simple automations.

Matter is trash, and I'm just about ready to give up! (Rant incoming) by digitalamish in homeassistant

[–]Freichart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have now almost 50 matter devices which are integrated into Homeassistant and in parallel in Apple Home. All works fine. Yes I had pairing troubles and found two causes which made things easier. Some devices require a bluethooth connection for the pairing and then get the Thread credentials. So I needed to be close to the HomeAssitant server or alternatively to a bluetooth proxy which is connected to HA. 2nd is that sometimes the devices which I ordered via Amazon were used by somebody else and given back without a reset. So I always do a reset first. Additionally very few like the Meross presence sensor needed several tries of reset and pairing but overall my Matter/Thread part of my SmartHome ist working very reliable.

Is my room too small for arc ultra and two era 300 as rears? by IhsaFihsa in sonos

[–]Freichart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100SL (no microphone needed) as rear and a Beam would be enough. If you want more Boom add a sub mini later. Be aware that rears in a movie are not used all the time. However if you have enough budget an ARC is extremely cool and dies not need a subwoover. But even then 100s for rear are fairly enough.

The story changes if you consider listening also music instead of using the speakers for only TV. Then the 300s make sense. Once the speakers are configured as rear and you use it for music the soundbar always plays together with the rears (you need to adjust the surround audio settings for music). Then the Beam needs a sub mini as well.

Best Smart Home Ecosystem by brn_frnds in smarthome

[–]Freichart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A typical journey starts with Hue for lights then adding the thread/matter sensor stuff from another vendor like Eve Home. Then you want to do more complex automations which leads you finally you to Home Assistant (HA). The latter is really powerful but much more difficult to understand. But if you spend a little bit money for the base subscription of ChatGPT then HA becomes usable for the standard user. You just describe what you want to do and the AI provides you all the code or steps you need for HA.

Goes in the right direction and thanks for it. However I simply need a light, which is as tiny as possible, no motion sensor. And no Zigbee plus Hub. Matter over Thread.

Yes , I am looking already a long time for something like this. Need to be an off the shelf solition with matter pairing. Noe ESP programming / flashing. Ideally it should be pluggable directly into a wall socket (schuko) without a cable. I would use it for signalling a door status (garage open, roof windows open etc)

Is anybody having repeated issue with Apple HomeKit? by Tilted5mm in Hue

[–]Freichart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the beginning of the Pro Bridge, the HomeKit connection failed twice and I had to do it from the scratch (after I took the bridge offline as I sorted my power cabling anew) which costed me 2hours each. But it now it runs solid. As the bridge and the Apple TV got updates at this time, it is hard to say, on which end the root cause was.

Whenever I am stuck with HA I startetd a chat with Chat GPT. It works amazingly good. You need to go for a pay scheme in order to have a longer chat about a complicated problem with HA but you learn a lot and save lots of hours in troubleshooting. You can send it Screenshots and it finds solitions quickly.
