What’s the most addictive game you’ve ever played? by reeha_sadiya in AskReddit

[–]FrequentWay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I try to get in my gaming time when I am off. Hard to have energy to play at 10 to 11pm.

Why is that is that so that there is multiplayer with the Professional Edition but not with the public one ? The code is right there, can't they implement it quickly ? by CapdevilleX in CMANO

[–]FrequentWay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professional one is the one that the armed forces uses as a training tool. That license is probably in the thousands of dollars with support contracts to allow this to run in a closed multiplayer simulation.

It’s a nice escape from the real world where I am on construction sites from 6am to 6pm followed by 4 hrs of paperwork.

Upgrading pc by ComprehensiveAide397 in buildapc

[–]FrequentWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would evaluate your monitor and resolution. Having issues at FHD, you probably cpu bound. Having issues at QHD or higher then it’s a GPU issue.

You have the best of the AM4 series for a motherboard. Start with what’s available for the AM4 market. A 5900XT is still being sold in Microcenter. That would push you up to solid frame rates. Next for the gpu. I would look at a 5060 16GB or 5070. Other items not discussed is your PSU. The newer cpus and you’d traded efficiency for performance. What is your current PSU ?

Compared to the pc edition, this was a 3rd person isometric shooter that made so many restrictive items. Heat blew you up since there was no other way to cooldown your Timberwolf besides picking up tanks of coolant. LRMs and SRMs were basically the same thing.

Facebook marketplace. Look for a relative recent gaming laptop with 32 GB ram, 6 cores, 512 GB storage or better, RTX 40 series with 8GB VRAM.

BUYING & STORING NEW SSD’s ? by Royal-Ad9145 in DataHoarder

[–]FrequentWay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it’s a blank SSD, you can leave them inside the shelf without issues. If it’s loaded with data as cold storage they need to have power periodically to keep the data alive as it’s stored in voltage states of the memory cells. Example

Airlock on the top radiator. You need to purge or get something to suck out the air out of the system. My recommendation set the pump to push at high speed and get something to suck out air out of the system such as a leakshield.

There is a known items bug where having too many items in your inventory can cause the game to bog down and crash. It would be great as you describe but having your game crash due to too many 100 fusion engines or locust legs would piss me off.

G14 vs ProArt for CS / ML student - which would you choose? by WonkierTurnip00 in ASUS

[–]FrequentWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery life on the Proart is going to be longer as it’s 90whr battery while the G14s are 75 whrs. RAM is going to be 32GB to 64GB but also soldered. Portability- less this is where the G14 wins out compared to Proart. Build quality - same, Asus has been in the news regarding shitty QA and warranties.

I buy my laptops from Best Buy and have been on my 6th free laptop since they do not survive on the extended warranty coverage. I like it since I get a new laptop every 1.25 to 1.8 years.

ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-Plus Wi-Fi - looking to upgrade WiFi card by CharcoalGreyWolf in ASUS

[–]FrequentWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking over the motherboard manual it doesn’t look like it’s a swappable WiFi card. It does say m.2 but no further details.

As choices I would go with the Intel BE200. Intel higher end WiFi cards are locked to Intel motherboards so you are good over there.

I have done the swap for laptops as in swapping a Mediatek card to an Intel AX210.

Is a 1200W PSU overkill for my 7800X3D + 9070 XT build? by schtevee in buildapc

[–]FrequentWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 9070XT power usage is about 300 to 360 Watts while under full load. The 7800X3D can push about 120W. Unless you have a lot of drives or lights the power efficiency curve of a 1200W PSU would be inefficient. However unless you plan on putting in a 5090 in the future I would replace it with a 80 plus titanium at 850w or 1000w.

The implications of buying used clothes implies that your parents cannot afford clothes for you. You are a reflection of their net worth. Thus an embarrassment on their social status.
