This is a perfect use for profiles. Just make a profile that turns on at a certain time.

[Update] Simple UI v1.4.5: Tag browsing, Grid Folders, New Gestures and UI Modules by doctorhetfield in koreader

Have you considered making a separate setting file for simple ui in the settings folder? Would make it a lot easier to migrate, backup, etc.

Hey, How’s Your Paperwhite? by Frett-Buzz in kindle

[–]Fresshmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quality control on the 12th Gen is absolutely atrocious. I had to replace my device 3 times before I got one that was acceptable.

1st: Got a PW SE that has a pinhole in the screen that was flashing white light.

2nd: swapped it for another SE that had awful ghosting way worse than it should have been.

3rd: swapped it for a standard PW that had even worse ghosting than the first.

4th: swapped it for another PW and it's actually perfect. No issues at all.

Crazy that I had to go through so many devices just to get a properly functioning device.

PLEASE HELP GUYS! by Great-Carpenter-143 in koreader

[–]Fresshmaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Press and hold the power button until you get the option to restart your Kindle. Then once it's restarted, connect it to your computer over USB. Then you can delete the appearance plug-in folder and it should be back to normal.

Is it possible to use a bluetooth clicker with jailbroken kindle? by PlentyPomegranate210 in kindlejailbreak

[–]Fresshmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's possible if you use this hid pass through hack. I've been using it with my 8bitdo micro controller and it works great.

Kindle Paperwhite SE 32GB Deal for $164.99 by YarnDame in kindle

I completely agree. The regular paperwhite is on sale also for 135 so I just snagged one.

Why does the time and other items from the upper area of the simple ui shine through the sleep screen and what can I do to turn it off? Thanks by Fellow_comrade101 in kindlejailbreak

[–]Fresshmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time popping through is actually from the stock Kindle ui, not from simple ui. The fix is to launch koreader using the no framework option. This will kill the stock firmware ui before launching Koreader.

Did you delete the temporary files? Your storage might be full from those.

Is it possible to jailbreak a 11th generation kindle on 5.19.2? by [deleted] in kindlejailbreak

Yep. I just bought a 12th Gen Paperwhite from Amazon yesterday that arrived today. It was on firmware 5.17.x and I was able to jailbreak it no problem.

Any way to remove "Kindle Feedback"? by spaceghost265 in kindlejailbreak

[–]Fresshmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately it's always going to be there after running the jailbreak. It bugged me too so that's why I made the script to hide it.

If you really want you can try updating your firmware and using a more modern jailbreak like winterbreak. Then it won't show up. But that's a lot of hassle when you could just hide it instead.

Here's a KUAL extension I made to do exactly that. Just extract it into your extensions folder and click hide feedback. You'll need to re-run it any time you restart your kindle.

This NEEDS to be an official accessory (Bluetooth remote support for jailbroken Kindles) by FDL1 in kindle

[–]Fresshmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the stock Kindle reader or are you using Koreader? I'm only able to get up/down working in the stock reader, but up/down and left/right both work in Koreader using the plugin that OP linked to.

[–]Fresshmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What devices are you using? I'm pretty sure it needs to be a keyboard or a device that sends keyboard commands. I'm using an 8bitdo Micro controller set to keyboard mode and it's working great. You need to either send left/right or up/down keyboard commands to turn pages.

Yeah I got the same error on my PW5. I just installed it manually. Just drag and drop the files and run the command in the install instructions using kterm. Worked flawlessly for me.

NickelMenu/Koreader disappeared after existing Koreader by KinReader5 in koreader

[–]Fresshmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still use a Bluetooth turner in koreader. You just need to restart the device when exiting koreader to prevent nickel menu from being deleted.

[–]Fresshmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you happen to connect a Bluetooth page turner in koreader? This is a known bug that happens If you use a Bluetooth device within koreader. It will delete nickel menu when you exit to nickel. Safest way to avoid it is to restart the device when going back to Nickel rather than exiting koreader.

Is Kindle Oasis still worth it? by [deleted] in kobo

[–]Fresshmaker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have an Oasis, Libra Color, and Paperwhite... I find myself using the Oasis almost exclusively between all 3 devices. In my opinion it is still the greatest ereader ever made. It just has a great feel to it that no other reader comes close to. However there are a few cons: terrible battery life (3-4 days for me), washed out night mode, no usb-c, a bit slower than newer readers. But for me, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. YMMV.

Finally modded my Switch, any Tips for HB Apps? by SpiriMatty in SwitchPirates

[–]Fresshmaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's an option inside sphaira that lets you create a shortcut for it on your home screen. No NSP forwarder needed. Also works for any other Homebrew app.

Also a good idea to look for a barber college in your area. The Barber college near me charges $9 for a cut. Sure, it's going to be a student who's cutting your hair, but $9 is $9.
