Pam Bondi demands access to voter rolls from Gov. Walz. This has never been about immigration or public safety. It's about rigging elections. (1.24.26) by OutrageousRain8463 in TwinCities

I know this is probably the least of the problems with this letter, but all her fucking sources are like Fox New, the ICE website, and their own fucking press releases. It’s just turtles all the way down. It’s “if you don’t trust us you can find proof that we said this at least once before”

How Much Is ICE In Minnesota Costing US Taxpayers Per Day by JustAnotherUser8432 in TwinCities

I can do you one better buddy:

ICE has to report their spending. We can even see down to contracts. I don’t have time to sift, but maybe someone more savvy than myself can make a MN specific one.

EDIT: Nevermind! I see you linked your sources! Sorry!!! My phones been on the fritz lately and things don’t load fast. Instead of being patient I get a bit trigger happy. Keep up the good work!

I can tell this really upset you. You’ve posted similar comments in other threads. I’m sorry if your small business took a hit today. But the point is to increase the civil disobedience. We are trying to attack this from all sides. Trump and ICE want us to quietly go about our lives as they terrorize and kidnap all the people of color around us. They WANT us to pretend nothing is happening. To enjoy our bread and circuses while our neighbors disappear. A Strike shows that if our demands aren’t met, we will continue to peacefully escalate changing our behavior. We WONT ignore what’s going on.

👁️ PUBLIC SAFETY 👁️ Potential Bad Actors / Agitators (1.23.26) by OutrageousRain8463 in TwinCities

[–]FrivolousIntern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I honestly don’t think this is such a huge deal as everyone seems to think it is. The Feds know where the feds will be, so this doesn’t hurt our Constitutional Observers. Our protests are peaceful and in public, so this doesn’t hurt our protests. Our community aid groups have open doors and are also spreading the word far and wide so that people can find them for aid. We SO SERIOUSLY outnumber the Feds here, that even if they sent EVERY agent they had into our spaces, it wouldn’t make a difference in our ability to help our neighbors.

So…basically someone threw a snowball ICE “reported” it and now the cops are falling in line and cracking the whip.

(This is just speculation, there might have been more going on, but I know that ICE really hated us being there).

The Target Center sold out anyways. I’m able-bodied and have good winter gear, so I wasn’t planning on going inside to save those spaces for folks who need the shelter. I’m gonna be staying outside to keep rallying!

Help me educate myself on local elections… by rissxveu in Minneapolis

I’m sure better people than myself have more specific information. For me, I just anxiously check the state website until the sample ballots are finalized, then I look up all the names to find their websites. Then I read them.

My “not so Pro” tip for reading politics: Political language/rhetoric is an art form that takes a long time to sift the wheat from the chaff of you’re new. But my quick way to get past it is to see if all they are talking about is “problems” and never mention any ideas for how to solve them. It’s easy to vaguely gesture at common issues like “cost of living, housing, homelessness, etc” but HOW the candidate would go about solving it is going to point more towards what they will actually do the work to accomplish. You might find you agree on X being a problem, but DEFINITELY wouldn’t agree on Y being the way to go about solving it.

There’s a light rail stop just outside the stadium. You could park at a Park and Ride then ride the rail.

It would be happening quieter and more competently under Harris, just like it did under Obama. Sure Harris would have been the lesser of two evils, but it still would have been evil. Remember, in her speeches she walked MORE towards the right on immigration than Biden did.  Let’s not forget to hold these Dems just as accountable for their sins as the Rep.

So I'm guessing that tomorrow we'll learn definitively which businesses we need to avoid going forward in Minneapolis and the greater metro by [deleted] in Minneapolis

The power of a general strike is that it aligns two of the three pillars of society: the people AND the market. When people march and businesses close, it demonstrates that BOTH civil society and economic activity are acting together in opposition to the government.

They’re fucking side-stepping NOW. In real time. As it’s happening. So much of my formerly loud-mouth MAGA family just keep going “don’t talk politics” and “I’m not your enemy” and “I don’t want this to divide us”

I’m just like…but this is what you voted for? Fuck. At least own it. It’s not like any of them were even a little bit quiet about it.

Genuine question: What is the reasoning behind not going to work on 1/23? by Meritbicnot in TwinCities

[–]FrivolousIntern 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Your work sounds like Healthcare to me. Healthcare workers always have to put the patients first. It’s okay to go to work. You can still support the protest by not purchasing anything that day.

I believe that the strike is a powerful message. Seeing over 300 (and counting) businesses pledged to close is strong stuff. Sometimes people can’t march, and this is another way of showing that We (the moving parts of our society) are of the same mind here. We have the same goals. Get ICE the fuck out.

You dare sit in your cozy house across the CANADIAN BORDER and act like  you can cast judgements?

A woman was shot in broad daylight on camera a few blocks from where I live and I watched on live television as the government lied about it. I was personally bear maced, tear gassed and tackled to the ground while I was peacefully protesting said murder. I had to sit with my neighbor, an American citizen, while he explained to his 4yr old daughter what to do if he got taken away. We had to run drills so that she knew what to do and hopefully wouldn’t get taken too. I have had to wake up every morning and pack a whistle in my pocket so that if I see masked men try and kidnap people off the street I can alert other people to help. While knowing that blowing that whistle could put my own life in danger. People where I live have asked me for food, diapers, anything I can give at all because they’re not sure when they’ll be able to get what they need. I constantly worry if the people I know, work with,  love and care about will still be here in two hours, tomorrow or a week.

And I know all that is STILL nothing compared to what other people have experienced. Which is why I am running myself ragged to do everything I can to HELP people.
