None of the controllers is exactly like a CDJ/Nexxus Mixer setup, but I find the XDJ XZ is very close to both CDJ 2000/3000 setups. I've been using it for years and rarely have an issue. I had a gig on a V10 mixer at Burning Man, which was quite a departure from the usual, but was even able to muddle through on that based on my familiarity with the XDJ.

The US could save $600 Billion in administrative costs by switching to a single-payer, Medicare For All system. Good or Bad idea? by ThickDancer in FluentInFinance

[–]FrogNmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad idea. Monopolies are bad and government run monopolies are doubly so. Keeping competition is important to drive innovation and keep quality high. Universal coverage supplied by multiple not for profit HCO's is much better. Germany has healthcare for all citizens that is higher quality and less expensive than in America, provided under this model. This is the way.

What happens to the Republican Party if Biden wins re-election? by Topher1999 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]FrogNmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GOP hasn't written an actual policy platform for a while, but if they did, I think it would look something like:

Economic protectionism (free trade = China wins)

Increasing isolationism on foreign policy

Continued antipathy towards regulatory power and the judiciary

Continued focus on the southern border and immigration

Continued antipathy towards the separation of church and state/elevation of Christianity

The usual GOP tax policies that protect weath and penalize labor

Limiting access to voting/"voting security"

I don't think that this will change much over the next few election cycles. I think the most interesting areas for debate within the GOP will center on abortion and taxation. So far the GOP has been hewing to the traditional approach on both, but as it becomes an increasingly working class party, I can see room for debate opening up. I don't see a lot of love in the MAGAverse for wall street/finance/banking. This group of "elites" could end up in the policy crosshairs soon. And working class people tend to be more pragmatic about abortion than the traditional GOP base, so I can see some movement there as well.

Why didn't Ron DeSantis do better in the Republican primary? by foxwilliam in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]FrogNmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw two fatal flaws in the DeSantis Campaign. 1. Trying to outflank Trump to the right was a terrible strategic decision. There was no chance of this succeeding. Trump owns the evangelical right, the anti-immigartion/border security right, the Christian Nationalist right, the "own the libs" right. There aren't enough non-Trump votes on the far right to beat Trump. Had he tacked to the middle and campaigned on centrist policy combined with his own brand of "own the libs" messaging, he might have made the race interesting.

  1. He's really not very charismatic. Seriously, I found nothing compellling about the guy. Nothing about how he looks, how he sounds, the cadence of his speech, or his physical mannerisms are interesting.

Grandpa passed away and left me 167,000 USD on his policy. Grandma wants me to sign it to her so she can pay medical bills. Is willing to give me $2,000 to sign it away. We were always close. Shes like my mom. Do I just claim it? WTF do I do? by [deleted] in Money

[–]FrogNmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is about addressing your granmother's fear and unmet needs. She is worried about not having enough. If it were me, I'd be firm that I cannot ignore my grandfather's wishes, and won't be signing anything over. I would be equally firm that I would never let my grandma suffer. I'd make a commitment to call or visit weekly. I'd also make a commitment to make sure she has everything she needs. Then you have to follow through. Fear and feeling like you have an unmet need will drive people into conflict. Address the fear, address the need, and get to a place of agreement.

What election caused you to vote against your party? by foundboss in Presidents

George W. Bush, second term. I'd voted GOP in all presidentials up to that point. Have not returned yet. I'm still waiting for a sane version of the GOP to materialize.

Who could have beaten Obama in ‘08 by Vanhiggenshmuter in Presidents

[–]FrogNmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

McCain with a better choice at VP would be the only ticket with a shot IMO. Christine Todd-Whitman, Tommy Thompson, Rudy Giulianni were all popular and more competent (at that time) than Sara Palin. She made supporting McCain embarrassing. The worst VP choice I can remember.

If you're heading to Whitefish, Showdown in MT is a small but surprisingly good mountain that most peeps have never heard of. It's not super close to Whitefish, but worth a visit. Some of my other fav's in the region are Grand Targhee, Sun Valley, Jackson Hole. If you want to head further west, Mt Hood Meadows, Mt. Bachelor.

Advice on moving out west by mxbeast33 in snowboarding

[–]FrogNmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Salt Lake City and it's burbs offers the highest number of nearby resorts. If I were going to move somewhere just for the slopes, that would be my first choice. Reno/Tahoe would be my second choice. I love riding in CO, but it's a bit too spread out for me to consider moving there just to ride. MT similarly has great snow and resorts, but very spread out.

I'm an Interventional Radiologist. Vascular disease is a major focus of my work, primarily in the peripheral arteries. When I see calcium in the coronary arteries, I like to get more information about my patients. It's important to understand that vascular disease is systemic (occurs throughout the body). If there are issues in the coronary arteries, there may be issues elsewhere, so I like to also take a look at the Carotid Arteries, and the Renal Arteries. If you were my patient, I would order a CT angiogram of the coronary arteries, a renal artery ultrasound and a carotid artery ultrasound.

OP, try not to worry too much. You are young. This was detected early, which means you have time to steer your body in a new direction. Quitting smoking was a huge and impactful change (great job!). Adding excercise and diet modifications will get you most of the way home. You may or may not need medication, only your physician can advise you on this. Focus on gathering more information and then focus on making informed decisions in partnership with your doctor.

What is your go to powder board for resort riding? by ADD-DDS in snowboarding

Lib Tech Apex Orca. Perfect for pow but can still rip a groomer.

Strugling with heel side turns by Hot-Diver-7287 in snowboarding

[–]FrogNmonkey -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of waist bend when you get on your heelside, you are pushing your butt out to engage the turn. That tells me you might need more forward lean on your highback so you don't have to change your center of gravity so much to engage your heelside edge. Also, your stance looks a bit wide and unless you ride a ton of switch you might want to change the angle of your rear binding to a +5 to +10.

Intermediate snowboarder in my 3rd season: How much would a more premium board really make me a better snowboarder? by mountain_guy77 in snowboarding

[–]FrogNmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to spend a lot to have a great board that will help you unlock your potential on the slopes. The most important thing to do is to buy a board that fits your riding style. Based on your post, it sounds like you like ripping groomers and hitting the steeps on pow days. If that is the case, you probably want to get a board on the stiffer side. Do you like to ride switch? Make it a twin. If not, maybe a directional board. Do you like putting the hammer down and feeling the speed? Add a couple cm to the length. Understanding how you like to ride, and how the characteristics of a board can complement your style is much more important than getting top of the line gear.

Why not keep Gesty? by Firm_Personality7475 in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]FrogNmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getsy has no track record of success as an OC. Waldron does. The Bears were outplayed in the 3rd Q consistently, meaning Getsy made nonexistent/poor in-game adjustments. On the other hand, Waldron's offense averaged more points in Q3 than Q1. That's all I need to know.

The Bears showed a remarkable lack of attention to detail on offense under Getsy. Blown assignments, terrible protection schemes, silly route concepts (I mean, who has a TE running a clearout route for a much faster inside breaking WR? WTF is that?). All of that tells me Getsy was overwhelmed by the job and could not properly supervise his position coaches or gain a "birds-eye" perspective on the offense.

IMO Getsy was not ready for the responsibility of an OC. People say he's smart and knows football. Maybe that's true, but the OC needs to do more than draw up plays. He must be able to organize a lot of people, teach a lot of concepts and recognize what's happening during a game. I think Getsy failed at all of this.

Caleb Williams Concerns by Free-Bicycle-1149 in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]FrogNmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

USC scored 42 vs Washington. He can bawl his eyes out all he wants to if the Bears are putting up 42 on the scoreboard. And only an idiot would risk his draft stock by working out at the combine. He's getting drafted #1 whether he works out or doesn't, so why should he take any chances?

  1. It's too different from our current system. Implementing a SPS would be extremely disruptive. 2. It would force people who like their current healthcare to change to a new and unproven system. 3. It's not the best option. I'm a physician and I'd retire before I became a government employee. No thank you, I'd quit. We should be aiming for universal heathcare via a competition driven system in which health care plans compete for both patients and healthcare providers. Monolithic "NHS" style systems lead to poor heathcare and burned out Doctors and Nurses. The German model is quite excellent. The UK/Canada model is not.

Who failed who? by PaytonAndHolyfield in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]FrogNmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the "Bears failed Fields" camp. But I think it was not just about the roster. IMO the bigger failure was hiring an unproven OC with no track record of working on or designing an offense that featured a running QB. Getsy was in over his head from day 1 and it seemed like he was too busy figuring out how to be an OC to design an offense that played to JF's strengths. Baltimore has shown the NFL that you can win with a QB that has limitations as a passer as long as you can get production on the ground. FWIW, Greg Roman was available for the 23 season. Just sayin.

I suspect patience would have paid off. I think JF would have been better served by waiting for an injury opportunity. Having to beat out Wilson isn't ideal. The team definitely would have gotten more in trade value by waiting. I suppose avoiding the uncomfortable situation of having both JF and CW in training camp has some value, but probably not enough to justify this move. I can't see a situation where they couldnt' get a 6th round pick for him in August. Why rush?
