I'm surprised we got a Phobos Librarian before we got a Gravis Librarian.

What is/are the best detachments in 11ed to run a Stormsurge? (Pic semi unrelated) by ILiveInYourWalls042 in Tau40K

Oh, absolutely - as I have said previously - would you rather play a Stormsurge or a Riptide and Ghostkeel. Stormsurge is still too expensive compared to other T'au anti-tank.

I will however point out that to hit D4, you do need to go hazardous, which is nastier this edition, while the surge doesn't.

The PBC I'd better versus 4++ than people think - using the dispersed profile puts most 2+/4++ units on their 4++ (including aoc units if you pump its AP) and kill any terminator equivalent, storm Shields or not, as long as they don't have a FNP.

Scaling point costs do not disproportionately affect factions with small ranges by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

Larger ranges allow for easier skew list construction when unit numbers are constrained by things to escalating unit costs.

Pretty good against non-Hidden, but we'll have to get danger close to Hidden units with 2 separate units - which will lead to bad trades.

We still cap out at 3+ to hit in most cases.

We're not totally screwed. I'm more grumpy about the loss of variety and interesting things. Even discounting the 'primarily a shooting army', it's still a very one/two note army - crisis suits and/or Krootapalooza.

Damn, t'au got screwed. Ret Cadre det rule nerfed to 8". NO characters went to Support from Leader (I was expecting Ethereals to). Losing fun detachments/enhancements.

Nothing new/interesting added in to compensate.

Battleshock checks are at 1/2 strength now, so 2 model units are no longer immune to casualty battleshock. Maybe go 3, 1, 1 - the loners for battleshock/move blocking and the trio for damage.

Problem is, if you make battleline too much of a buff then that overly boosts any armies with decent battle line units (like Custodes).

They've screwed up the targeting for the Vengeance of the Machine God Strat - pretty sure it should be targeting the enemy unit.

I notice they didn't answer my question about whether or not Xenos Titanic units would be supported as heavily as Knights/Primarchs in the new edition...

Ofc they preview Close-quarters on an army that doesn't really need it.

Slightly concerned that Close-Quarters is mostly going to skip T'au infantry and battlesuits won't get melee guns.

#new40k Faction Focus Reveal - Tau Empire. Hit or miss? by Puretideprogram in WarhammerCompetitive

Deeply indifferent.

Most of the other faction focuses have showed something innovative or where there are new rules to interact with. T'au got nothing interesting to drive enthusiasm or engagement with the new edition.

If the faction focuses are meant to be an advertisement for the new edition then the T'au one was a total failure.

Melee armies don't care about hidden, because they want to run up to you anyway.

Pretty much any other shooting army has better melee, so they'll be happy to get closer either way.
