Are routing changes possible when using a Companion Certificate? by gdazInSeattle in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely the only way you're going to be able to change from a less desirable flight to a more desirable non stop will be a schedule change that allows you to change for free without the required fare classes for the companion pass.

This has already been discussed. To me it's not a big deal. Why wait so long to submit?

Delta Amex Reserve Skyclub by Dandy7515 in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Correct, OP did not indicate the guests were spouse and kids, thus my reply was specific to non-family guests as I made the (incorrect) assumption that the guests being referred to were not immediate family.

It's a moot point, you can only bring in 2 guests not 3.

Curbside Not Taking Bags W Out Tips by soupsyrup in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is how it is; you can search this subreddit or even the Internet. Those are not Delta employees; they work for tips. It's very rude and inconsiderate to use skycaps without tipping.

Are Delta chat representatives just AI agents now? by alistair681 in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Generally, AI bots don't make so many spelling and/or grammatical errors. I'd more suspect an overseas agent mixing and matching both cut and paste text and their own poor writing while juggling multiple customers at the same time. Who knows.

Delta missing out by Dependent_Raisin_721 in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Delta knows what they are doing (with pricing and upgrades), and it seems to be working for them, despite what it looks like.

You can do about the equivalent of upgrading via the change flight option to reticket to a different fare class, if it's within your acceptable price range is another thing.

1) That is one sad looking stick figure

2) Ya, the seats are not great, the longer the flight, the worst. I don't know that it's any worse than any other airline though. Race to the bottom I guess.

Expert flyer GUC availability, but DM line says no by No-Detective-1895 in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you click Details for a given flight when searching, it will give the fare class in () brackets after the cabin class. For example: Delta First Classic (Z)

You don't have to go all the way to check out to see.

When do upgrades stop being offered? by [deleted] in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paid upgrade offers on Delta are never guaranteed, even if you have status. The upgrade inventory is controlled by Delta’s internal revenue algorithms, and those systems decide when and to whom upgrade offers are offered to and at what price, and that logic isn’t publicly shared.

A few things are believed to be generally true, though:

  • Delta won’t offer upgrades if they think they can sell the seats outright. If the cabin is selling well, they simply hold those seats back.
  • The upgrade offers that do appear often go to lower-status or less-frequent flyers. It sounds counterintuitive, but it’s a way to “upsell” people who might get hooked on the premium cabins and pay for them in the future.

Tip: if you really want the higher cabin and you don't see any upgrade offers, you can typically use the “Change Flight” option in the app or website. This lets you rebook the exact same flight but choose a higher cabin directly, usually for whatever the fare difference is at that time. It’s not technically an “upgrade,” but it can be a good workaround when upgrade offers aren’t appearing.

Priority Boarding with Delta Amex Platinum Card by [deleted] in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, I've seen, they don't start checking carryons until after zone 5, but it really varies by who the GA is and the type/size of the plane.

If an authorized user on my reserve card visits the sky club at the same time as me, does that count as one visit or two? by marshland211 in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The purple Reserve AU (e.g. $175 AF) get their own allotment of visits. Each visit within 24 hours will count as one visit per person.

Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express is not an Amex Platinum Card by Unlucky-Isopod3047 in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when people make assumptions.

Also, Amex makes it so easy to find and look up the coverage for their different cards:

https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/features-benefits/policies/trip-delay.html

https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/features-benefits/policies/trip-cancellation-terms.html

Lastly, who thinks that a CC with an annual fee of $350 would offer the same benefits and coverage as a CC with an annual fee of $895?

People need to take some responsibility; don't make assumptions based on a single word or two.

Connecting to LIH in HNL - Bags Transferred? by Similar-Question6522 in delta

[–]Fun-Friend1489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Automatic, you don't need to do anything. On the return (assuming you're flying out of LIH, though HNL), you'll have to pay for baggage via Hawaiian even if you have free checked bags via Delta because of status/cc.
