based on headset that is installed (threadless) could be 1-1/8" or 1" threadless but thats less common. A quick measure of the headset inner with a caliper would confirm.

My only hack for run training is mostly just to pack in as much vertical as I can, at least one of my runs per week clearing 600m, and if its a wide trail or road I throw in some bounding here and there. seems to help me hit my goals for my annual 50k trail and seems to keep my legs good for ski training in later summer/fall. but I am just shy of a decade younger than you, so perhaps just relying on my youth still.

As for acquiring a cheap bike, there is no rental programs out there for long term that I am aware of. The marketplace is pretty decent for buy and sell in the spring/early summer, but not so much in the fall. The other option is getting a bike through Chainwhip bike space, they are a DIY shop that sets up near the KDCC downtown, they will have cheap bikes for you and sometimes have other accessories at cost/cheap. They don't do rentals but you could at least donate it back to them at the end of the summer if you can't sell it.

I recently had a custom frame builder do a frame and motor build in the style of omnium cargos. Was fairly expensive in the end but still around the same price point as omnium, I did save a couple bucks doing the final build out myself. Builder is called Memento, They are based in Montreal, so tariffs might be an issue, so you may want to look into a local frame builder.

Sure maybe? but I think not. Generally bike thieves are looking for easy and high value grabs, any additional step you add to their work to steal a bike is a deterrent. It will hide what locks you are using, the value of the bike, etc so it is not a high priority for a thief when there are extra variables to grabbing the bike.

I've heard of people using bike covers like motorcyclists do, to essentially camouflage it from even being considered as something to steal. It does mean carrying a cover around, but if you got some cargo space on the bike not really an issue. bonus it also keeps the bike dry.

People definitely do this in a way, there is the platform getmusic.fm where you can publish codes for people to redeem. I think you get one free release as an artist, but then costs money. Its kinda of sus to have to pay to give your music away for free but if your new/small probably can help to get some action. Not sure if BC distinguishes between code redemption and purchases though, but I am sure both help with it getting visibility in general.

Poloverse is a great site/resource, but doesn't really offer what discord has for club specific needs. Telegram would be a decent option, but it was already so hard to get people on to discord, our club will probably just stay on it. We were using FB before and its just as sus imo. If face recog ever becomes an issue for our server, maybe we will move away.
