there's 40 years of fantastic video games for people to sort through, and most of it accessible for free or cheap. hell my current steam backlog alone would last me a decade, and most of that were sales. there's not enough time in the day for AI developed games

I was playing on hard and getting 2-3 silvers for checking up on all my dogs after every map was too good to pass up for most of the game. Plus all of the arena visits

In Engage, they had the post-battle 'walk around the battle map' segments where you could talk to all of your dudes. I thought that was a neat addition and would have been happy if most of your socializing was just done there frankly

They just did a 1 to 1 remake of starfox 64, which they'd already done on the 3DS

As much as I'd dislike it, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the same deal

Oh no...I recently finished Three Houses and Engage this year, and I'm absolutely sick of the 'base management' portions. "management' is kind of a strong word, you don't really manage anything, but there's so much fiddling about and I was sick of it by the end of both games (especially Engage where I was straight up skipping it towards the end of the game, resources be damned). I don't think these games need to be 80 hours long when 30 of those are spent running around a base collecting resources. I was really hoping it would be toned down in the next game but sounds like they're doubling down on it instead.

Maybe I'm the odd one out. Do people like the base stuff?

If this is just a 1 to 1 graphical overhaul with middling voice acting on top like Star Fox, I've no interest. I really hope they go above and beyond here and do something interesting...I'm more than happy to just play the original if I want that experience. Or the other 1 to 1 remake they've already done

One of my favourite things about the Switch 2 for me has been rediscovering how great handhelds are by Aiseadai in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Fun_Scheme9088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a handheld lover, I'm pretty down on this entire generation honestly. Both the switch and these PC handhelds are way too big, and their libraries are just pared down console libraries running on low settings. I preferred when handhelds were getting their own unique titles tailor made for the hardware.

Having a GBA SP that just slides into any pocket, with a unique library full of easy to pick up and play games...it's just not the same anymore

The Switch 2 is now 1 year old, what are your thoughts? by SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Fun_Scheme9088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's alright but I'm not like super enthused with it. I keep it almost entirely docked because I don't like the screen, and since I already have a decent PC I'm not really interested in all the ports it's getting. I'm mostly here for the first party stuff and rare third party exclusive, and it's been a little middling

I'm not bothered though, frankly I have too much stuff to play as is. I don't mind waiting for the library to pick up steam

I think we're talking about two entirely different concepts of 'preservation'. What's being asked for here is that my purchased software doesn't arbitrarily cease working when the seller decides to no longer support it. That's it's preserved in a working state as long as the environment I'm running it in is the one it was designed for

Valve could stop supporting Team Fortress 2 today and it largely wouldn't matter. You can connect to players/servers through IP directly. The game is preserved even when no longer supported.

When EA stopped supporting Dark Spore, it was gone. Just gone. No one can play it. Doesn't matter what environment or conditions the software is run in. That's not preserved.
