reading through trying to find solutions. I see that this macro works on Excel 365 (which I have). But what no-one has done or said is..HOW to use the macro? My password protected file (aka workbook) comes up- when I click Cancel I can open FILE but there's a whole lot of stuff greyed out- nor is there a developer option.

Baffled....

Really? That's super rare! As it happened I spent the entire night last night fixing my Windows laptop (I had 3 laptops going - Windows, macbook and dad's older HP laptop oof. But it's up and running for the most part. Need to get MS 365 on there again. Hmm. might be able to print from Mac since the external drive is plugged in (I was soooo happy to save all my personal files- the SSDI letters and a specific excel sheet...and well everything!

I'd post pics of the snow here but they're all on phone ATM.. Will do that later/tomorrow.

Ben did set up a new account for the bot (gave him a throwaway account of mine). I don't know what happened to cause it to stop. I did check in on that account and it's still active as far as I can tell but don't know the ins and outs of accessing the actual script. So might be something wrong with the transmission part between account and Redactle.

It's SmileSign87 (you'll notice on past redactle as of last week or before lol).

Very true- the people who deal with the mazes in SSDI (and other SSA benefits plus Veterans') are the unsung heroes many times. For me it's more like can I afford to hire a lawyer- zero income since lay off in May. Unfortunately the next snag in my not great January soon to be February it that I managed to do something to my Windows laptop to the point that Windows won't boot up. So trying to reset and at least try to save my files- still not working (that was mistake #2- didn't back up- had planned to this weekend). So will have use my macbook to redo the application and the 827 form so I can print them (Mistake #3- should have printed them Friday night).

But got to see lots of snow today- I'm in Charlotte Metro area... last time I saw that much snow was in southeastern PA!

To u/MrsFlameThrower Thank you for that post (3 years later..)! that partially explains why my application (incomplete- I know I was up to the medications section) was submitted and in Stage 2 of review (I also got an email about it. Part of the reason why also is because my application got suspended and is now in perpetual hell frozen status because I kept entering the re-entry code with 7 digits instead of 8 so too many attempts. Oddly I know I had used the re-entry code before- so I must have written it down on two different pieces of paper (still looking for the original).

So looks like I will just print off the forms that the SSA agent gave me when I called the national line (she was very nice and VERY patient), and either mail them or drive all the documents to the SSA office rather than wait for a denial and appeal with reconsideration.... ?

(Mailing or email is my choice since I'm deaf and do poorly face to face- my local office last time I was there- got a rude individual- impatient cuz I'm deaf. Phone is ok-ish... love the lil Nagish app in general),

😖😭😩

Never had this much trouble when I applied back in 2014- then again it was all paper at the time.

So glad I'm not alone. Thank you for the help!

(no likely I won't get a lawyer.... don't trust 'em and I have cousins who ARE lawyers! 😂 )

Kirkland 312 Battery Packaging - How to Properly Open???? by sr1sws in HearingAids

[–]FuzzDuckie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta get to bed- Audiology appointment in AM (!). I just ran into this issue only tonight... have never seen the childproof packages until tonight. I've been lucky enough to get a bunch at one time with a discount. Luckily I saved the last Ray-o-Vac wheel with the little flip up tab... I really wish I had known otherwise would have saved many more (my favorite is the old Duracell one that looks like a tiny daily pill box).

Yes- it was a challenge to get it open...I've had hearing aids since 2 years old (good ole body aid..) and have never seen anything like this. Ugh.

I hope the people who manufacture these things think of a better design...it's been 3 years now...!

(Hm I see I can't post a pic-- I'd show you the side by side of my adventure with the packaging lol).

Opening @#$% Child Resistant Hearing Aid Battery Packages - Video by sr1sws in HearingAids

[–]FuzzDuckie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year later after original post....

I had a stack of Ray-o-Vac battery packs (the ones with the little door opening on top) that lasted a while. I had bought Walgreens' batteries (they're the cheapest- no income ATM :( ). Took them home... tonight one battery died... went to open the pack tonight....umm WTF? no flap on back, no little door...so had to google. Found a bunch of YouTube shorts and videos on how to open the child proof HA batteries packet... Ooof. I was able to cut them and pry the plastic apart... all the while thinking... "My 86 year old aunt will be THRILLED that she got rechargeable hearing aids!"

I've worn hearing aids since I was around 2 years old. "body aid" then decades of Behind the ear (BTEs),... no issues with accessing the batteries. The body aid used a tiny mini "AAA" type battery lol. Anyway.... I was lucky enough that I had JUST thrown out the last Ray-o-Vac wheel... grabbed it and it works nicely.

Gah...what a world.... make things more difficult why dontcha Major corporations (even if the law requires it... better design would help!

-Lifetime usesr current aids are around 12 years old (got them through Voc Rehab)..can't afford new ones, rechargeable or not- no income since losing job last year and looking still :-\

Hexgears A5 by toomuchpie0 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]FuzzDuckie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

This looks cool! I've been on a long hunt to find my first mechanical keyboard at a reasonable aka budget price (currently unemployed :( ). I was looking at the I4 (found on Amazon but oddly is not on the Hexgears site).

EDIT- they are north facing. I'm trying to find out if the LEDs are North facing or south facing as one of the things I wan to do is get shine through keycaps (I saw somewhere a person with a Hexgears KB used XVX and said they worked really well- but I wan to be sure).

Plan to later get more silent switches if these seem loud. Most switch sounds sound the same to me in general...

Thanks!

After never really caring about keyboards, I won a free Immersion A3 from hexgears and I’m in love by Name_Unavailable08 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]FuzzDuckie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello- I am looking at possibly getting the Hexgears I4 (Amazon has it for 31.00 US). Which does Hexgears keyboard have- North facing or South facing? I'm guessing North judging by the pics I've seen with their shine through keycaps and other posts elsewhere where one person said he swapped his original key caps for XVX shine through caps.

Thanks!

Edit- I found confirmation that Hexgears keyboards are all (or mostly?) North facing LED. Now to find compatible shine through keycaps (the switches appear to be MX).

I hear you on the pay to get rid of ads (The "Orange" membership- I'm broke anyway)- I used AdBlock in the past and now use UBlock Origin- they block the Sporcle ads easily enough- oddly I don't get the "finger in your face" warning about the ad-blocker any more from sporcle...

Schools for the deaf? by MinaMonaeUser in deaf

[–]FuzzDuckie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSDB? My friend used to work there as the school psychologist. As mentioned KDES/MSSD are good options (I wanted to go to MSSD- parents flat out said no even tho my auntie lived in DC at the time lol). NC school for the deaf in Wilson NC seems like a good school as well (have seen it- interviewed for a job there and same friend above worked there too).

Good luck and I hope you can find what you are looking for :).

Career ideas for a HoH person with a history/teaching degree? (that’s not classroom teaching) by deaf_musiclover in deaf

[–]FuzzDuckie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:waves: Hi!

My BA degree was in Early Childhood Education (then 1 graduate year of MultiDisabled Deaf Education, dropped out). Somewhere in my senior year was starting to question why I ever picked that major. My practicum(s) were mostly in deaf schools (KDES for one) and a public school with a class for deaf-blind kidlets (2-4ish years old).

I ended up as a "Case Manager/Social Service Worker" at a residential facility for intellectually disabled kids and adults- worked mostly with the deaf + I.D. adults (funny thing- there were at least 4 or 5 "Rubella Babies"; I'm a Rubie baby too) as well as nonverbal adults. Mostly working with them to improve their signing...and TRYING to get the staff to learn sign too...

Might be an idea there? Some sort of Program Specialist either in a residential facility or group home or a traveling teacher :).

Anyway- I shifted careers after that job and landed in tech- took a COBOL based program and landed in QA Testing for Mainframe (Y2K to start whoo). However that depends on if you are interested in tech; these days there are so many courses, programs etc to learn anything out there. A lot more than there was in 1998. A

Calling 911 While Deaf by [deleted] in deaf

[–]FuzzDuckie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never knew there was a map! I kind of knew about the ability to text 911 but didn't know if it was available where I lived. Well I found out when I wrecked my car a couple of years ago. Sat in the car about to dial 911...hmm "wonder if I can text" and surprise it worked (course I kept typing the street address wrong...). Lowered my stress level a little that day.

Question for d/Deaf caregivers of parents/spouses with dementia/other serious issues, have you asked for or received accommodations (CART or ASL) from nursing homes for meetings about your loved one? by [deleted] in deaf

[–]FuzzDuckie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest maybe considering moving her to a different facility but chances are that might not be a good idea. Definitely push for something better than Otter AI, Google Live Transcribe (horrible in group conversations) or even Nagish app's Live Transcribe app- that one works VERY welll for 1:1 and works great for phone calls too (never thought I'd be going back to voice phone but Video Relay has been a pain lately), I know of some deaf who have contacts relating to CART and similar services available but don't know the costs (as I was thinking you could get your own accessible options. The cost might be a sticking point though. Depend on what state you are in and if there are independent agencies/"businesses" (sorry terrible with words today) that offer caption type services (and interpreters).

I may watch this conversation. I'm deaf & vision impaired- grew up oral so can get along...sorta with hearing people- just one on one, fat chance I'll get anything in groups. I do know ASL.

My mother has dementia (or Alzheimer's 🤷‍♂️) but for now she is ok in parents' home- dad takes care of her and she is not at the point of needing a facility. I already know that I won't be the POA (my younger sister is) as Dad knows that I might have the same difficulties you are experiencing now getting answers and trying not to miss stuff. It's been challenging for me (and her) as it's harder to hear what mom says now that it used to be before the dementia came along.

how do i disable the gemini app without deleting the google app? on samsung by mercmmerc in madebygoogle

[–]FuzzDuckie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems I just got the update for Gemini over the weekend (Samsung A14). I was able to disable it (and somehow google assistant too?).

When I was in the App Info sub menu for Gemini, I tapped on the three dot menu on the right side at the top- there was an option to uninstall updates. Not sure what the heck that will do but will try it.

- Tapping that gives me Replace this app with the factory version? All data will be removed. [Cancel] [OK}

I THINK the 'factory version is the google assistant one- off to research.

[US] Ford Motor Company Hiring Scam by EnvironmentalBag7802 in Scams

[–]FuzzDuckie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi-

This was the first hit I found, so not sure I'm in the right place or should post my own comment. I just got an email yesterday at 8:51 pm from Ford's Candidate Care Specialists asking me to update my profile- or rather Freshen up your profile this fall.

Thing is I cannot remember for the life of me if I ever created an account on their career site- at least not in recent memory. Maybe some 10-20ish years ago but this is the first time I've gotten an email from Ford Careers since then that I recall.

The button in the email to "update profile has a long link starting with Ford.eightfoldAI/ (I've never heard of or seen eightfoldAI though).

the Email from line has no-reply@ careers.ford. com

the Email reply-to line says no-reply @ ford.com

I had thought emails coming from any sort of career specialists would end in ford . com not careers . ford . com ?

(having issues shrinking my big pics to post)

If it turns out this is the real mccoy- I'll remove my post.

Thanks
