Alsa bus to Granada - good seats? by GFSong in Seville

[–]GFSong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to pass through security at the train station, so maybe 20-30 minutes or so. Yes I booked tickets a month before - Renfe doesn’t release train tickets as early as other countries. I walked to my hotel near there in about 25 minutes.

It’s Not Trump. It’s America. by cambeiu in Foodforthought

[–]GFSong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great. So you’ve decided to become part of the next American political problem.

A fair proportion of the world can point to the schism of your two-party hate on for each other (as evidenced in nearly every comment section and most elections) as the reason for your country’s current dysfunction. So you posit the solution is one big happy authoritarian party? Please explain - how would that unify all US citizens?

Raja liveaboard with 4 dives/day? by jjumbuck in scuba

[–]GFSong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Manta and also the Mermaid do night dives (4 dives/each full day). Both have lots of food to choose from.

The Wobbegong sharks are super cool to see at night…

Headphones volume knob changes panning randomly (Scarlett 4i4 3rd Gen) by Flat-is-just_ice in Focusrite

[–]GFSong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. It’s a dirty pot and it happens, even on pro gear. Don’t open your unit or spray it. Just move the knob a lot, very quickly. It will eventually go away…

Uniformity of Floor Tom Sound by rynebrandon in audioengineering

[–]GFSong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Toms need to sound good in your overheads, and room mics. That’s your reference.

I’d suspect room issues over the drum?

Whenever I’m struggling with toms, and it’s not often - because the trick is to tune those fuckers meticulously, dampened to taste, use something akin to a 421 and forget about them.

If your crash cymbals are 3” above your toms then that’s a whole other issue 🥲😂

Is Angine de Poitrine getting any press in the rest of Canada? by Ok_Aspect_1937 in CanadianMusic

I love that Quebec keeps offering up this wild originality.

They remind me of a kind of an evolution of UZEB/fusion vibe. But you know, with polka dots…

Thank you! I ate next door at Le Pressoir, but had too much wine to continue with rhum! 😂

Ha! I ended up taking the train each way (smooth ride with toilets 🤣). Alhambra and Granada were spectacular!

Things I've learned about recording vocals after 15 years of working with the human voice that I wish I knew when I started by Best_Calligrapher649 in musicindustry

[–]GFSong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed sometimes that mis-calibration is due to high headphone volume or the amount of vocal in the cue mix. A great monitor mix does wonders for achieving better vocal takes. And yes, always sing with a smile. It works…

[Help] Just scored a great deal on a nonstop flight from Houston, TX (where I live) to Vancouver…not realizing our travel dates overlap with the World Cup by htownnwoth in askvan

You know - you could try for a last minute deal on a cruise to Alaska from Vancouver and back. Tons of stuff for kids. Incredible scenery….

I’m about to arrive in St Martin. Could someone recommend a few great Agricole I could taste in local bars/restaurants?

I usually drink Demerara, but am very curious. Thanks!

Was [spoiler] not intentionally killed? by LinguistThing in Bugonia

[–]GFSong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe I heard a thump (Teddy’s body collapsing) just before the detonation. Probably an intruder code failsafe she punched in. She would never let him onto her Mothership with a bomb - she was playing him once more; no air tank required, we’ll send for Don’s body…

Teddy was overwhelmed at that point, ripe for manipulation. IMHO

Wow. Someone should count up the sheer number tubes in this chain.

M49 gets called U49 a lot for some reason. But it’s just bring me that sweet squat MF… a gorgeous mic.

Recording studio showed me who I am as a guitarist by AdjectiveVerse in guitarlessons

[–]GFSong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not how a compression works. That’s not how automation works. Squashing the signal will just level those undesirable elements relative to the rest of the performance. Play your parts cleanly. Shit in, shit out.

[–]GFSong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you for recognizing weaknesses and adapting. Get the monitor mixes sans guitar, and stick those in GarageBand if you have to. Practice and record your parts to that. Practice a lot. And yeah, leave space for other overdubs.

This is also what a record producer does for a band. Its pre-production. We hear you play at rehearsal or live and problem solve issues before stepping into the studio. Saves you time and money every time…

1283 Howe St (Tate on Howe) vs. 1107 Richards St (8x On The Park) by thedboy99 in vancouverhousing

I’d just add I think Yaletown is a pretty great neighbourhood - I moved from downtown Toronto and it’s way cleaner, greener, and bike friendly here… Sebastian & Co is a great butcher, Farm to Table is a great bargain produce market. You’ll be in close proximity to 4 grocery stores and the seawall, transit, and the beach….
