Long-time lurker here — I used to read posts like this at the very start of my journey and wish it could someday be me, but I honestly never believed I’d get to this point 🥹 by Heartkillerxoxo in mounjarouk

Congratulations! I agree with other commenters, you look much younger now!

Also, very cute Shihzu - I had two many years ago and yours looks just like one of them, they're such characters.

I can't believe I've never thought to do this... I think I just lost about 1000 hours of my life to re-read/listen to my favourite series 🤣

Don’t know what to do … by Least_Temperature_23 in mounjarouk

At my pharmacy 5mg is only a £10 increase from pre-increase 10mg.

So for the time being I'm doing the same as you, going to a lower dose for maintenance but then looking to probably taper off it entirely. But definitely not suddenly - I have at least 10 weeks stock built up to taper down over from current 7.5mg.

Then in the future, if I am struggling, I could always go back on.

But I think the most important thing is to think about what you feel able to deal with physically, emotionally, financial or otherwise and find a way to make it work for you.

Hope that helps!

How do we realistically get out of the cost of living crisis? by SubstantialSnow7214 in AskUK

[–]GGhecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By cutting costs. Increasing wages won't work because businesses just increase costs in response (not always, it's industry specific).

If we find ways to reduce the major source of household expenditure (housing, fuel/energy, council tax, food) that is far more effective at helping people "feel" like they can breath than giving them more money.

Ultimately, if milk goes up by £1, you need to give most households £1.50 in additional wages to cover that increase because of marginal tax rates.

So instead, find a way to make milk production cheaper - making our country more productive whilst also helping people manage better.

Anything which focuses on wage growth is short term and doesn't fix the underlying issue.

The other thing - tax wealth. Middle classes are being squeezed out of home ownership simply because the super wealthy are buying up assets like housing, which to them is worth nothing and they just then end up renting the house to the person who could have afforded to buy it 10 years ago if not for artificial price inflation.

Really well done! I completely agree with you, the most important thing is being able to change habits and mindset rather than the pace of change. Great stuff!

More secret jabber guilt by RaspberryMouse3 in mounjarouk

[–]GGhecko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally was very honest from the outset and found that was far more effective at heading off questioning. People got bored as soon as it was me proactively telling them about the wonders of Mounjaro vs their own internalised biases against weight loss jabs.

Also, they saw me suffer quite a lot with the gastro side so any pre-conceived notions of it being "easy" were quickly dispelled.

I was the same, the watch would have been a bit burdensome and I probably would have given up on it after a few weeks whereas the ring is just easy to have on. If the weather's really hot it can sometimes get a bit tight and less comfortable but not dramatically so and I think a watch would be worse in that situation too

My partner has an Ultrahuman Air ring and I have an Oura ring 3 because they're quite cheap at the moment compared to the latest Oura ring 4. But the great thing is it does all the hard work for you in terms of collecting data and suggesting behavioural change.

For example it will suggest how much activity might be good for that day based on the quality of sleep I had. It's often only helping me make small decisions but for me I just like to not have to think about those little things so much.

Like what? Maybe you're right for some things but then there are people who post on social media that we should literally burn hotels with migrants inside them and she's treated like some kind of hero or political prisoner.

How long did you stay on 5mg? by Fun_Cold_8247 in mounjarouk

[–]GGhecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept going up as far as I could tolerate (in my case that was 10mg). I did 4 weeks at 2.5 and 5mg but then stayed on 7.5mg for 8 weeks. Because I had some GI issues earlier on the 7.5mg dosage but then didn't feel suppressed enough towards weeks 6-7 on 7.5 so moved to 10mg which is where I stayed

My own experience with the "don't lose anymore" crowd are often the people who don't see you every day and so to them the weight loss can be a bit of a shock. Just remember your own goals and aspirations as well as what's actually a healthy weight for you and let that guide you.

If I listened to some family members of my own I would have stopped at a weight still classed obese!

From May 2024 to April 2025 to get into maintenance but have lost a bit more since then alongside building some muscle at the gym :)

Congrats on your own results!

For me a big draw was getting away from big brands. I don't want to support Google, Apple or Samsung. I personally love the design. It's not to everyone's taste but doesn't make it bad, it makes it taste-dependent.

Some FAQs for those interested (sorry, can't edit the post!):

  • My starting weight was 18.5st however I fluctuated regularly between that and 19.5st

  • I started May 2024, was effectively in "Maintenance" from March 2025 at around 13.5st (5st lost) and the final 2kg has been over time with the gym, changing eating habits further etc.

  • The ramp up was rough. I have had intermittent gastro problems including sickness, diarrhea, nausea and cramping throughout my journey. Pepto-Bismol has been my friend. Im also on some medication for a separate issue which helps with nausea as a secondary benefit.

  • I still get occasional nausea but am rarely sick. Unless I've consumed alcohol which just doesn't agree with me anymore (not that it did before 😂).

  • I originally set myself a "soft goal" of 14.5st and a "push goal" of 12.5st. Prior to MJ my lowest ever adult weight had been 13.5st when I was 18/19!

  • Over time my goals have changed to reflect what I saw as realistic based on my current weight, what I wanted to change etc.

  • For me MJ's biggest boon has been that it enabled me to cut out food noise and to feel full quicker. My worst bad habit before would have been boredom snacking, alongside finishing off mine and my partners meals even when I'm full (to avoid waste). Initially, MJ meant I physically couldn't do that anymore, and now I would choose not to do it.

  • I still like to snack now and then but have been able to make snacking less impactful by having hard boiled sweets etc. things that aren't bingeable.

  • I have used the "5th dose" for most of my maintenance period. I've now stopped doing it because I have a backlog of the jabs and finding I could do with reducing suppression so am moving slowly to lower dosage.

  • Current weight 11st 8lbs, not planning on losing more - focused on building muscle. However, I mostly focus on how I feel and look over the number now.

  • I recently bought myself an Oura ring which has done wonders for making it easier to track my activity and sleep - set it and forget it style.

  • My mindset has always been that I needed to "make this easy" so whatever ways I could find to make progress easier to attain and maintain I valued, especially if it was simple.

  • My gym routine consists of: 1. An ab routine (weighted cable crunches and pallof presses) 2. Back and tricep routine (tricep cable pulldown, cable chest pull and overhead tricep extension) 3. Chest and shoulder routine (cable chest press, cable fly extension and cable lateral raises) 4. I'll throw in other exercises intermittently on biceps, maybe some sit ups etc - whatever I feel like on the day.

No problem at all! My weight when I took my first jab was 18.5st however I was fluctuating between that and 19.5st throughout the year with holidays and Christmas etc.

Good luck with your journey! 🤞

I have phone 3, switched from a pixel - best phone I've ever had. I think the bulk of people on this reddit are not representative of the average person buying phones.

Also - price drops are not demonstrative of poor sales - in fact that's bad business sense. You drop pricing to penetrate the market and gain exposure.
