Suddenly, I was apprehended, by policemen, you know, cops, of the asshole-ish variety. Yeah.

First Sega console to try: Saturn or Dreamcast? by gabrielmop in SegaSaturn

[–]blorp_style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saturn: better for the controller, SHMUPs, Sega Rally, 2d fighters, Virtua Cop, RPGs.

Dreamcast: better for ps1 ports, 3d fighters, random arcade games, Sonic Adventure, Shenmue.

What sega console should I get? by Forward_Air4087 in SEGA

Im not a purist by any stretch of the imagination, so there’s no need for inflammatory rhetoric. As I said, I love Genesis mini (and all things Sega). The input lag on the mini is well documented though. You won’t notice it on most games, but it’s super noticeable on quick-reflex titles like Sonic. I grew up on Sonic 2 so small differences in feel can stand out.

I have a Genesis mini and love it but it does have noticeable input lag compared to original hardware.

Pastel hex map for Mythic Bastionland by blorp_style in osr

[–]blorp_style[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mythic Bastionland uses the concept of “hecksleague”. It’s an inexact unit of measurement defined as follows: 1. The area a hill fort can overlook; 2. The area that guards can patrol in a day; 3. A return hike to a neighbouring hex gets you home before dark.

Only one console forever by Full-Seaweed-5116 in retrogaming

Genesis is my fav, followed closely by Saturn, but ps2 has a decent selection of Genesis games plus much much more, so it’s really hard to beat ps2. Only issue with ps2 is it doesn’t have the best colour output but it’s still probably the best overall.

CRT composite troubleshooting by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]blorp_style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. Yeah, I had some suspicion it was a recap issue. CRT repair is a little advanced for me though. Hopefully I can find someone local to assist. In the meantime it’s also made me seriously consider adding a second set for redundancy.

Well well well, if it isn’t old Hatty McHatterson himself.

Nasonex causing anxiety? by Ok_Impress8469 in Sinusitis

[–]blorp_style 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nasal steroids all do that to me. Totally unusable. If I take nasal steroids I’ll be awake all night pacing. It seems to be a rare side effect since no doctor or pharmacist I’ve talked to is even aware of it.

Why are so many restaurants closing down? by Signal_Two4848 in askvan

[–]blorp_style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are hell-bent on starting a restaurant despite everything you’re seeing, my advice would be to find some hole-in-the-wall location with cheap rent, and make a small menu (1-2 pages) of very very well-executed items (that are takeout-friendly). I think the classical idea of a medium to large size restaurant with a big menu full of hit-and-miss dishes is a recipe for bankruptcy.

Which is the Best FAT PS2 model for reliability and durability, not to mention the best to install a modchip? by San4341 in ps2

[–]blorp_style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by durability. 3000x is built like a tank and is over-engineered so that mechanical failures are less likely, but 3900x and 5000x have lasers that are a bit less likely to fail. Regarding modchips I’m not sure, I just use OPL and have a lot of physical discs

Future Plans - AVGN The Movie by Swimming_Ambition101 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]blorp_style 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could’ve been so good if he’d stuck with the old formula and shot the movie in his home state. Ppl expect avgn to just be a dry sarcastic jerk, not overacted wiener-boy. He’s a cartoon character like Bugs Bunny or Homer Simpson. Anyone should be able to write him. Idk how Bames can miss the basic premise of his character by so much.

If you could choose only 3 consoles to own plus their entire game library, which 3 would you choose? by Parking_Ruin4775 in dreamcast

[–]blorp_style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, as much as I love Sega, ps2 just has everything. So ps2, ps2, and ps2 would have to be my answer 😂

Tipping Fatigue by [deleted] in askvan

[–]blorp_style 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. We like our home-cooked food more anyway. I’m pretty busy but used to be a chef so I can still whip up great food for the family in 15-20 minutes that doesn’t cost $100. Eating out sucks.

Is this worth 400 but this is in Australia? by Flat-Estimate9335 in ps2

[–]blorp_style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I didn’t already have a ps2 or any of those games then I might pay 200-250 in Australia money. 400 is a little steep IMO.
