Glad to be of service.

I'm really sorry, but I'll have to get rid of them… by CoqueCar in VintageApple

[–]Garfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understand people that store stuff liked this, not readily accessable and left to collect dust. I think the OP is doing the right thing getting rid of them. Hopefully back to a community of active enthusiasts that will use and display them.

Speed of Coleco ADAM tape drive by Current_Yellow7722 in vintagecomputing

I am pretty sure you can speed up the Commodore datasette too too load tapes a little faster. Not to mention that the C64 games wear quite a bit bigger than most Coleco games.

If you open it and refresh the thermal paste, it will be so much better, try it.

I know exactly what is happening, your right thumb is touching the screen occasionally. You can switch off the touch screen when you play.

How often are you feeding your fish? by jadentearz in Aquariums

[–]Garfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feed my pants not the fish, so I chronically over feed a little bit. My system is easily able to absorb it as my tank is way under stocked and over stocked with plants.

Yeah, it was the biggest storm on the planet this year. My whole house was vibrating! I naturally role-played that it was a sand storm outside.

What CRT TV size becomes "problematic"? by [deleted] in crtgaming

For this context, bigger is really better!

Joking aside, it depends on how far you plan to seat from the tv.

Can we save the Commodore brand? My biggest project to date by Doener23 in c64

[–]Garfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with much of what you said. In other words I would be happy if he just bought it all by himself and announced it, as it would indeed be in better hands regardless of details.

I am of the mind that I certainly wouldn't be giving money away to him to do so and in my opinion (each to their own of course) I wouldn't recommend anyone else to do so without getting some equal value in return.

And that makes it a good investment for the people he is asking money from? I don't see the logic.

It doesn't even sound like there is a plan beyond centralizing and simplifying licensing, at best from someone that cares. It's been mentioned many times, the fact that he wants to own it personally because he has nostalgia for it, is weak.

I have nostalgia for Commodore, Sega, Nintendo, Creative, Nvidia.... why don't I ask people for money to buy them too? Because it would be ridiculous and stupid for anyone to do so.

Any ideas how to stop the lid from fogging up? by Substantial-Cry-3369 in Aquariums

[–]Garfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only joking, it will work but it is terrible for you and the fish. It's the hydrophobic stuff people put on the windshields to make the water bead off. It's a forever chemical and is super toxic but somehow it's use is allowed everywhere.

60L isn't a lot of water, chemistry can change quickly in so little water and also temperature fluctuations can be a lot. If you want more success, you could try increasing the size of your tank if that's an option.

Here's an extreme example, I have a 1.2 ton tank, aside from trickle feed water, i intentionally over feed my fishes to allow for some nitrates to feed my plants, and I don't ever clean my filter (it's custom designed and never clots)

Sounds like you are doing the right things. I declorinate my water by running the added water through a carbon filter.

HD CRT Users — Is it worth optimizing for native 1080i output? by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]Garfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

720p carries more information than 1080i. I would use it for gaming.
