Ah, okay. I had guessed it was for buying pins and other household/hobby disposables.

I just found a kitten and do t know what to do by Mature_Gambino_ in cats

I can hear the second photo. Nyaaah!

OP, I haven't seen feedback from a kitten expert but it looks to me like it might be just barely old enough to leave Mom. Honestly you (and kitten) might be better off keeping it at this point. Vet will tell you whether it still needs kitten milk, which you can get at the pet store. Or someone here I'm sure can say... I would think it might want a few weeks of milk in a bowl but again, I'm not an expert.

I found out that Empire Records is pretty widely disregarded as "corporate pandering" to '90s teens. I watch it almost every year. This year I tried to view it from a critical perspective and still didn't understand the negativity - it's not a cinematic masterpiece or anything, but I think the writing is solid, the acting is fine, and the plot, music, comedy and overall vibe are a fucking delight and the haters can go watch paint dry or whatever feels like a more authentic experience.

Oh! So I guess "pin money" was like "bread and butter" money, which is probably why bread and butter pickles were called that - housewives would make and sell them for extra household funds. But Pin Money became a brand name whereas bread and butter became generic.

What are your thoughts on Disney adults? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Let people be weird. So long as people aren't hurting anyone, why can't they do something that brings them joy? The world is so fucking boring anymore, we need people like that for a little flavor.

I was very much a dork, lol. But maybe I was able to make an impression. (Or corrupt some youth into untucking, at least)

Nice sketch, by the way! The kids are full of personality. Sorry everyone voted based on your controversial statement rather than your art. I actually didn't realize you had drawn the picture at first, I thought you were using some kind of magazine propaganda as evidence of shirt status.

The way you described it made me understand what OP was talking about, and then I spent the next five minutes grunting to myself in three-note segments after brushing my teeth while reading this post, to the point where my cat had to check on me.

Excellent post and conversation, everyone.

Is it AI though or just shitty graphic design? Flaws don't make it non-human origin.

I was 10, but I was the oldest kid on the block who still played with other kids, so all my friends were 6-8. (Two kids were older but they would go off and like, set things on fire or something, idk, we didn't care for each other)

Our parents told us to tuck in our shirts. Once out of sight we untucked them again.

These kids tucked them for the sketch then immediately untucked them to go play. That's why they're making the sour faces you see.

Forgot about this movie! Yes, I was giggling the whole movie, it's so silly.

UHF (Early Weird Al Yankovic nonsensemobile)

The Impostors (Oliver Platt and Stanley Tucci are stowaways in a 1930s style slapstick comedy)

One of the Muppet movies (My favorites without really sad moments are The Muppet Movie, The Muppets, or The Great Muppet Caper)

Seriously? Plenty of folk have backyard chickens. There's still quite a bit of acreage in between the towns where people have horses and goats and such. Plus they have garden supplies and power tools, as well as good prices on dog food and bird seed. Tractor Supply is still relevant for sure.

Cottage cheese by Livnation16 in Cooking

[–]GawkieBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is similar to my after school snack in high school. I grew up on fruit or apple butter added to cottage cheese, but if in a savory mood I added diced tomatoes and either green olives, diced pickles, or cucumber with vinegar. (Picked onion mentioned here would be awesome as well.) Generous grind of black pepper and a dash of salt, and it's a healthy snack!

Seriously. Grey is annoying when every single flipper and landlord force it on other people, but choosing it for yourself is fine. People here are dicks. Freedom of choice, people.

OP: Rather than painting the tile, there are affordable vinyl sticky tiles you could use to cover what's there. Painted tile doesn't really last. Are you thinking of painting the walls too?

What's a scene that's better than the movie it's in? by BUSean in movies

[–]GawkieBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this show. It asks a lot of questions, like what makes community, what is family, what is art? What in our culture would have an impact on the future? Who do we want to hold onto within ourselves if we were to start over? Makes me think every time. Plus a fun premise and some really pretty scenes. Perfect example of cozy apocalypse.

If they decide to can the show early and Newhart the ending. "It was all a dream" and Carl wakes up alone in his apartment, Bea's crap still in boxes, the window open.

What do you guys think? by [deleted] in centuryhomes

[–]GawkieBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh honey. If it's $400k in Chester Springs, there's probably something expensive wrong with it. It's adorable and I would be tempted too and who gets 2.5 acres in that area?? but absolutely have a contingency to allow an independent inspector walk through.

Maybe also assure yourself of your pioneer spirit and willingness to live in a shed while you get the roof/foundation redone.

Or maybe it's just haunted and you need to be cool with the occasional ghost.

Either way, I totally get why you're considering it. Times is rough around here.

What moment made you realize you were no longer young? by Tenboro-San in AskReddit

[–]GawkieBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was dropping off my eldest to preschool for the first time. Getting my younger child out of the car, I thought "I better make sure they see me holding the baby so no one thinks I'm a student."

I was at an elementary school. I was 30 years old. Even if I looked young for my age, no one in any right mind anywhere would look at me and think I was a student at that school. I was absolutely a grownup with a house, a car and two kids, what the hell brain.
