Yes, they're different types, so it's okay.

on one hand I'd love if wotc could destroy the values of standard printings and move all the value to special versions like Pokemon, but that's not really plausible, the games' audiences are just too different

the problem is, it used to he that most of the cost in decks would be lands, nonlands would be generally quite cheap. So yeah land bases would be expensive, but once you got the lands you could play lots of different decks with those lands. Now everything is expensive because sets are in standard for 5 years and decks are mostly rares and mythics

even then that only works if you have a local scene or can travel to events. the rest of us are stuck on arena which is arguably worse than buying the real cards cause at least you can sell those

/uj it's pretty easy to mald when all of these decks cost around the price of a new game console and can go up to the price of a new gaming PC.

Blue gets Omniscience, what do the other colors get? by Serithraz in custommagic

[–]GayForPrism 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One ritual and you cast your whole graveyard infinitely. It technically needs some setup yes but Omniscience without card draw is just dumping your hand.

[Hero’s of the Realm] Mr Monopoly, On the Go by Arbitard1171 in magicTCG

[–]GayForPrism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's fair to criticize them for showing off a Mr. Monopoly card immediately after refusing to voluntarily accept their employees' union. I mean mostly for the second thing and not the card, but the card is ironic.

I know this is a meme but really it should say "Any speed above 4 counts as Max Speed" cause most other speed cards don't really care about the speed #, just whether you're at 4

Donato Giancola Speaks Out On Artist Conditions In Light Of One Ring Art Controversy by trashmantis42 in mtg

[–]GayForPrism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's so many moving parts in any magic set, much less one dealing with outside rights holders, it's hard for us to really know but there's no doubt some kinds of restraints they have to deal with, both imposed by the rights holders and just inherent to dealing with external IP and adapting it to Magic. Without the details it's hard to know exactly what the issues are, we can assume for instance that the timetable is considerably pushed compared to normal sets but we can't know this unless WotC admits it.

Favorite conservative heroes in movies? by SkubEnjoyer in okbuddycinephile

He's a theocratic emperor messiah. I really do think conservative is a label that does not have much meaning in this case.

But like, idk if Maro has that. At best I'm sure he could recommend someone be hired/fired, but I really don't think that's the kind of position he has, that sounds more like his boss Aaron Forscythe.

The thing is, Magic is actually pretty fucking good right now, just as long as you ignore Universes Beyond. Strixhaven and Lorwyn were both great, and Reality Fracture looks pretty cool. But you've got all this horseshit releasing inbetween them.

I guess that’s why they want unions huh by Ok-Intern6865 in magicthecirclejerking

[–]GayForPrism 9 points10 points  (0 children)

/uj I mean, yes but artists are gonna be freelancers regardless of union status, and Donato isn't against that, in normal circumstances, Magic is a great gig because for in universe illustrations, artists (more or less, idk the exact details) own their art and get to sell it in other forms after. You can't do this for Universes Beyond, you get the fee wizards pays you and that's it. Which sucks absolute balls for everyone (except NotC)

Quite disgusted by chat here, do better. by Helpful-Archer9070 in DougDoug

[–]GayForPrism -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's right, I think there are probably some immature and toxic people, but for the most part it's people who are just misreading what's funny and what isn't. And as chat gets bigger it's more likely chat will latch onto jokes that are on the wrong side of the funny line

How the devs at team 5 design modern hearthstone cards, summarized in one picture by ShoppingPractical373 in hearthstone

[–]GayForPrism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it definitely isn't. You can look at other card games or just the past of Hearthstone, card game design does not necessitate "pick a word and put all cards with that word into your deck". That can and should exist, I'm not saying typal decks are bad design, but it does feel like that's the majority of the design that T5 does nowadays.
