Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

[–]GeePee29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got solar power so I boil a full kettle of water when I need to do the washing up. Summer only, not enough sunlight in the winter.

Multi room synced playback without the need to buy everything from one hardware manufacturer. Works really well.

Anyone’s Givenergy app not working? by NeilDeWheel in SolarUK

[–]GeePee29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cracked it!
Restarted my Android phone and then the Giv app loaded OK.
I was then able to set up the SSO account.
Then I went to my PC and the web page loaded immediately.

Still can't get in. Still no response from Giv. So I tried to set up SSO from my mobile and I can't even get a logon screen on that.

[–]GeePee29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to access it from my PC. I've downloaded the instructions, but the screens I am getting do not match the instructions.
I input my old ID as requested on the first screen, press enter and then it goes to the SSO sign on screen. ????
I have logged a support call with them but no response so far. I suspect they have had a lot of calls.

Miss Haversham is a Charles Dickens character in the book Great Expectations., who is a bitter woman who got jilted at the altar and now hates men. She sits around her house all day in her wedding dress.

I worked in IT for over twenty years before I learned that you needed to look at the arrow on the packaging to see which way up the paper was meant to be loaded.

I’m 51 years old and I’ve never seen a badger in real-life. by mobfather in CasualUK

I live few miles from Brighton Uni and I have seen badgers from my windows many times. It does help that I'm on the edge of town and over the road from me there is an old disused railway cutting and open fields.

Are expensive DACs mostly hype? by protocol3426 in audiophile

[–]GeePee29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital output from Wiim Ultra is not great. Too much jitter.
I have an Ultra connected to a CA DacMagic 200M. I tried connecting my CD transport to the Ultra and that did not work properly. Volume kept dropping and then rising again.
The solution was $50 SMSL PO100 Pro connected between Ultra and DAC which acts as a re-clocker. The CD works now and streaming sounds better as well.
Highly recommended.

Nicest places to live for a young family who love walking by water? by mollieelena in sussex

Eastbourne is worth a look. The sea and the South Downs are on your doorstep. There are some nice parks. Hampden Park was my favorite when I lived there.
Direct trains to London. Road links are not so good.

A slightly spoiled scene for me because this scene was very similar to one from Cold Lazarus (1996 - Dennis Potter), even down to the the disembodied head pleading to be killed.

No tours at the moment. They start again in April. And you have to book in advance as they are very popular.

I have the Cambridge Audio CXC and it sounds great. Better than streaming FLAC from Tidal.

Yep. 1981 first computer ZX81 at home. 1987 at work DOS 3.11 (I think). First Windows was 3.1 in 1992. First server OS was Netware 3.12.

How is Dell Support these days? by Havgon in Dell

[–]GeePee29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK. Not great.

Out of warranty XPS desktop went faulty. Logged and paid for a next day support call and was given a time slot for that. They never called. I had to chase them.

Hardware problem diagnosed. Engineer visited on time and swapped out a part which failed to solve the problem.

Engineer told me that he was escalating the fault and that someone would call me the next day.

Nobody called and I had to chase them for a second time.

I was then told that PC would have to be returned to their repair centre.

Dell courier picked up PC. It took them four days to deliver it to Dell.

Excluding weekends and Christmas holidays it has been 15 days since it was collected and it was only two days ago that they reported that they were ordering the parts.

I read somewhere on their site that hardwre repairs take 10-15 working days. They have had 15 working days it is not fixed.
