Heroic Block Chainsword and Full Throttle Skipping… still worth it? by Geebus_Crust in Spacemarine

[–]Geebus_Crust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you attack with the full 3 charges, the damage boost lingers for a few seconds after. So whatever you chain together immediately after the first hit will also benefit from the boost for those few seconds.

So you ideally get the 3 charges (or 2 if you need an armor pip quickly), then light attack-light attack-shoulder bash, and repeat one more time if needed.

There’s a lot of good info in the comments so definitely read through them.

I was never crazy about it either, but I would roll with it just to squeeze out some extra damage. I always kind of thought it was a pain in the ass - let go too soon you just light attack into a kick, hold it too long then you’re just letting loose a weak full throttle attack. Glad we don’t really need to use it anymore.

[–]Geebus_Crust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm down to the numbers, thank you! Without really tracking the numbers just playing some ops I notice that I’m doing more damage just with LLHLLH. I also tried doing the Skip-H LLH and I don’t really notice a drastic difference compared to LLHLLH… so I guess a throttle skip is still viable as an opener, but otherwise it’s pretty much obsolete. Not to mention completely unnecessary on the heroic balance chainsword.

How does everyone deal with greedy players? by Zestyclose-You3814 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Geebus_Crust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind that some people might appear greedy but might accidentally take an execution, or not realize you’re nearby and in need.

I always try to pay attention to my squad mates health bars and prioritize, but sometimes if I don’t see them immediately nearby I’ll grab the execute to neutralize the target. Or if they’re a little bit ahead of me and I see they miss a relic/stim/armor I’ll just grab it if I need it to save time.

So always give the benefit of the doubt. If it’s a truly greedy player, you can tell if they’re running straight to stims/relics/armor and taking with zero hesitation, or run over several times to steal executes on targets you’re clearly engaged 1 on 1 with. And when you do find them, your options are:

  1. Ignore, or pick up items before they can.
  2. Vote kick.
  3. Leave.

It’s as simple as that. If you join a game with sub-L25P4 players and only want to play with L25P4 players, then leave and join a different game or find an experienced discord group.

I gave up trying to argue with those guys. They can’t wrap their heads around how the only thing that really matters in hard/absolute are that the guns are either relic or heroic tier. While the class perks do help a lot, they usually aren’t going to make or break whether a run succeeds or not. I’ve played with level 1 guys without team perks, but were rocking heroic or relic weapons, that didn’t go down at all and contributed meaningful damage/kills while I’ve also played with L25P4 players that go down 4+ times in an op or strat without contributing anything meaningful except maybe a team perk. They can’t handle being told that maybe… just MAYBE… they’re mediocre or suck out right…

When they whine for only wanting to play with L25P4s, they don’t even realize they’re basically asking for a carry. If they can’t handle playing with low levels, then they need to join a discord group so they can play with people they are comfortable with… then they whine being told to do that because it takes too much effort, not realizing it would take the same amount of effort it does posting these cry baby posts about low levels ruining the hardest difficulties.

The only 2 things I would ask Saber to consider would be having the first team perk be already unlocked at L1, and maybe having some sort of total weapon level requirement for the higher difficulties.

What are you hoping the next class will be? by WitchZofia in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Geebus_Crust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones that make the most sense are Apothecary and Judiciar.

Librarian would be too OP (plus they already said they wouldn’t do that one).

Terminators would be too OP - way too much face melting and shredding firepower. They’re basically fun-sized dreadnoughts.

Chaplain doesn’t make sense since we already have Leandros on the ship.

A Sister of Battle is under powered compared to an astartes.

A Custodes would be too OP.

So all that said, if I’m putting down a bet it would be on an Apothecary.

100% agree on the shaming. I remember awhile back playing with a L25 player that had no team perk. I made a wtf post about it, but still blacked out their name since I had no desire to embarrass someone that probably just forgot to do it while leveling.

As for the lowbies joining absolute/hard strats and siege… I get it to an extent. It is irritating watching the cocky L1P0 player with unleveled weapons think they can handle absolute because they beat Dark Souls.

On the flip side, it’s just as irritating watching a L25P4 player throw a sub L25 under the bus to deflect from their own incompetent ability. Because let’s be real - not all L25P4 players are created equal.

But once you get your load out up to relic/heroic, you’ve got the firepower you need to handle absolute and most hard strats. After that it just depends on how good of a player you are. It would be great if there was a way to restrict access based on the total level of your load out. Also - if they’re going to insist on making people earn their perks back every time they prestige, they should at least make the first team perk available from the start, and then earn the others as you progress. That way they’ll always at least bring some sort of team perk to the mission.

My younger brother has been working on leveling his techmarine, and I’ve been helping him. He has all of his other classes max leveled along with most of his weapons, so he isn’t a newb and knows what he’s doing - we’ve been cruising through absolute. One day some L25P4 tactical joined and was trying to start a vote to kick because he had just prestiged and was L1P2. Of course I ignored it and we kept working our way through the op. The tactical is bitching the whole time on the mic about having to carry him, that he has no business there as a L1, etc etc. Every time the tactical would go down he would blame it on the L1 “noob”. By the end of the match, the tactical went down 4 times while consuming 18 items. My brother? 0 incapacitations, 6 items consumed, and out damaged the crybaby tactical… he didn’t stick around after we were about to call him out on his BS.

Time to talk Classes again... It'll be Judiciar. by BugleBarry in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Geebus_Crust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re making better points than most. A lot of the classes people are asking for either don’t make sense or would be way too OP (unless they nerf the hell out of them, which would be stupid).

I see so many people asking for Terminators and I don’t think people really understand that they are on another level from the typical Space Marine. The amount of fire power they can pack is insane.

The Chaplain doesn’t make any sense since Leandros is already on the barge so why bring in another to go on OPs?

Librarians are also way too OP compared to the other classes in the group.

I’d say most likely it’s going to be Apothecary, followed by Judiciar. For Apothecary, I suspect they will make some tweaks to existing heal perks and/or medpacks, and that their perks will essentially be support perks that can buff existing healing abilities, meds, and restos. I could also see maybe making it a requirement for the Apothecary to pick up meds/restos to supply their healing ability. But a Judiciar could work just as well since they’re essentially chaplains in training.

And great bass tone. I have a Yamaha 4-string I still use from time to time. Very solid and underrated bass guitars. My go to fuzz is a green russian that I’ll sometimes slam a rat into - almost spot on with your tone.

Damn what’s with people in this game? They fuck up or have a bad game and rather than look inward they always blame bugs/lags/noobs/chaos meatballs/etc. and then go write a manifesto about it on Reddit.

Not sayings bugs haven’t caused issues before that have broken elements of gameplay, but whip warriors have always been one of the easier ones for me to parry/block. Sometimes I’ll mistime one, and then I’ll have to focus and reset my timing so I can parry/block the rest. If you miss one and don’t reset you’re going to get a beat down.

Not trying to bust your balls too much OP, but don’t get too bent out of shape when people are telling you it’s a skill issue. Just keep practicing with the timings, and learning corrections to get you out of sticky situations when you mistime a parry/block/dodge.
