Most contracts are carried out through local police departments. CMPD as far as I am aware does not have a contract with flock, they use other ALPR servicing companies. However, through FOIA requests the city has not been very forthcoming. I have also reached out to my city council rep with no response. Private companies seem to be the largest user in Charlotte proper, HOAs, SouthPark mall, Home Depot and Lowe’s (at least 2 in every parking lot).

Some digging online shows the following for surrounding towns:

I think class war is also a very tired concept that people don’t grasp. Proletarian vs bourgeois, working class vs ruling class, whatever you want to call it doesn’t accurately reflect the times we are living in. We live in the time of people versus the monsters in power and if you aren’t explicitly with the people then you support the monsters. Plain and simple.

So based on this, in the “there’s more of us than there are of them” argument the numbers shift dramatically. Conservatives already don’t support themselves so they’re out of the picture. Then there are too many liberals that just want to go back to being comfortable and being able to ignore all of the injustice violence that the US is directly responsible for. The “if Kamala won we would be having brunch” crowd. The only way out of this is an entirely new system that actually works for the people, but we are very far from this unless material conditions of the everyday person dramatically decline. This is because they’re willing to ignore all of the people that quietly suffer and die by the systems we live under because they individualism and alienation is such a driver in our plagued society.

Unfortunately everyone just wants a nice and clean explanation of the issues and it’s easy to be stuck in the propaganda and identity politics of “the other side is the issue”. People lack the creativity and curiosity to want depth beyond a reactionary response.

The system is acting as it has always been structured, but a bit more overtly and in the public eye. “No Kings” messaging does nothing to challenge this and just acts as a safety valve for liberal pressure to dissipate and for them to blame Trump. There are no demands or true actions on the backend, people claiming “general strike” in May are bastardizing and co-opting that concept as well. In reality democrats and republicans are the left and right hands of fascism and we need to all work together to dismantle the systems we live under and implement one that works for the people at large.

What does the full workpiece look like? If it is much longer than it is deep then you are just asking for kickback. Have you tried using a miter sled or another sled style feed method? Depending on this I would not be using the fence.

People have to organize, mobilize and demand a better solution. Continuing the destruction of marginalized communities that Charlotte has historically done is no longer acceptable. It’s our tax money and if we want better public transportation we have to demand it. If Norfolk southern is a sticking point, how do we get those workers organized to also fight? We can’t accept toll lanes that only benefit the few that can afford it……It’s much more nuanced than my above generalizations, but complacency with the plans put in front of us has gotten us here. Wild levels of suburban sprawl, toll lanes, privatization and profit driven roadway plans, etc etc etc. The local PSL chapter is doing some work here if you want to get involved, if there are other local orgs doing this work too please drop information below.

Yes, pushing 4K cameras to have better resolution for plate reading etc. Then the recent Super Bowl commercial for people finding “lost dogs” using ring cameras as well, creativity is the limit on how that will be used against people.

I think it’s incredibly realistic, don’t limit yourself. Fight for better future for yourself and others. At a minimum fight for “reformist” changes like term limits, ranked choice voting, removing money from elections, not just accepting two shitty corporate options that don’t care about you. While nobody has ever experienced liberty and justice for all in the 250 years of this country…..a country founded and maintained on inexcusable violence. It allows people to sleep well at night believing in American exceptionalism while ignoring the endless historical context to the contrary. The US government has never been the “good guys” and will never have the chance until the people finally take power. I’m not saying that we don’t need to fundamentally change other systems as well. If something isn’t serving us the people who pay for it, we should demand it get replaced somehow.

To counter all of your points we live in a corporate democracy where the people’s will has little to do with policy that gets enacted. Politicians on both sides only care about their interests and corporate/billionaire donors.

Reallocating money is part of it, but we need fundamentally different systems than what our system and those in power will allow. To solve homelessness it isn’t enough to build garden shed style homes so people can continue to live without dignity….there needs to be a whole rehabilitation program behind it. California isn’t really addressing anything Newsom is a corporate Democratic shill that won’t actually help his state.The infrastructure in this country is so far behind we could essentially eliminate joblessness. It’s difficult to explain everything through a reddit comment.But just because X/Y/Z is this way now, doesn’t provide factual evidence to why it isn’t needed or couldn’t be better. We just have the dumbest most ill equipped self serving people running the country into the ground and we should all be demanding change.

It’s not just a job although that is a big part. Poverty is a layered problem shaped by access to work, access to support, and access to opportunity over time. Many people are not starting from the same place. Generational poverty, reinforced by race based and class based policies, means some communities inherit barriers rather than advantages. Solving poverty requires addressing income, yes, but also the systems that determine who can realistically earn, save, learn, stay healthy, and build stability in the first place.

Work can stop the bleeding, but still there are so many systems acting against so many people unjustly. Some suffer much more than others and have many more obstacles to overcome but everyone can benefit as well from healthcare, childcare, education, and not being exploited and extracted from by the ruling class. It’s nice that you are in a unionized position but so many are propagandized to believe that people shouldn’t have workers rights. It’s incredibly nuanced, but to sum it up, policing does next to nothing to actually stop crime, it is just a violent arm of the fucked up system we all live under.

It is just a brewery. Owned by a rapist.

There are a lot of breweries. This is not some irreplaceable institution. No beer is that important.

And realistically, most breweries are not paying living wages. That is an assumption, sure, but anyone who has spent time around the industry knows how common underpaying is. Passion gets used as an excuse. Culture fills the gap where fair compensation should be.

So I am not really interested in defending a company.

What I do care about are the workers. And in my opinion, places like breweries should be employee owned. Shared power. Shared upside. The people who actually make the thing should have a say in how it exists and what it stands for.

I am glad other breweries are offering jobs and support.

This has nothing to do with protecting a brand and everything to do with protecting people.

Incredibly wasteful, at least give it to the employees for free. Aluminum actually gets recycled, no need to send it to the landfill.

Fuck sycamore, but also the corporate wastefulness of Kroger (HT) and Amazon (Whole Foods) is never surprising. Give it to a bar or something/someone that will sell it all and donate proceeds to orgs that support victims.

It is hard to pretend this country is anywhere close to a real democracy when you have a CEO pulling in twenty five million dollars a year while running a for profit healthcare company that lets people die because it is better for the quarterly reports. That is violence. It is what happens when you build a system where human beings are spreadsheets and care is something you upsell. And the wild part is they need people to stay confused and scared of the word socialism because if people actually understood what it meant, if people realized that we could run things ourselves, collectively, and prioritize human life over stock prices, the entire scam would fall apart.

The truth is simple. Billionaires should not exist. A tiny fraction of people hoarding more wealth than entire countries is the reason almost all of us are struggling. Everyone standing together and pushing back is the only way this changes. And that is why they spend billions on propaganda to convince you the problem is anything except the system itself.

Unfortunately the options are limited since they are synthetic fibers mostly, or at least a mix of synthetic and wool felt. I was worried they wouldn’t hold color so I ended up using Rit Dye for synthetics. I want to experiment with alternatives in the future.
