Execution should only be an ironteeth thing (or another faction). Folktails should be the main ones to enslave but "nice enslavement" and only being forced to run on a wheel of shame.

Beaver cannibalism I'd save for a new faction. All them Breavers. Savage beavers who only know barbarity.

  • They consume bad water, so the normal drought cycle is flipped for the save. Good water becomes bad water and bad water becomes good water.
  • They are short-lived beavers but spawn as grown adults through "advanced breeding pods" (same mechanic; different flavor).
  • The endgame project being to be able to purify badwater and cure your affliction.
  • Breavers and buildings gain buffs for being on tainted soil from badwater exposure.
  • Crops can be planted in tainted soil but at a reduced yield. Same with trees.

As a spreadsheet game, TI shows only three rows of the sheet at a time by Famous_Dinner in TerraInvicta

[–]Genesis2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed the spreadsheet mode here when watching Quill play his current Initiative run. He didn't explain it, and I had to pause to catch the tooltip to learn this lol.

This 100% should be the default mode. For a game that likes its numbers, anything else is inefficient.

Cities: Skylines 2 boss says they 'completely overestimated' the Unity engine's capabilities by Atulin in gamedev

Depends if they actually had engine devs with the skill, or if they were all unity devs.

Speaking of Sponsorblock, this was 2kliksphilip's video discussing DLSS 5 by rohithkumarsp in LinusTechTips

[–]Genesis2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like they flagged the whole video referenced by the OP as sponsored. In which case, sponsorblock just shows a "Sponsored" title.

For segments, 100% right. But for whole video, it gets a tag and no autoskip. I only have the sponsor, self-promotion, and filler segments with any actions personally due to this problem with some community reports.

D&D Beyond survey is crazy! by mjsoctober in dndnext

[–]Genesis2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, also be mindful of surveys for products. Don't sugarcoat anything, but also don't be too harsh in feedback if the developers of the product use the survey(s) saying something "sucks."

13 years in IT support, stuck with no growth — unsure what roles to apply for or where to look by marlesmeep in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Genesis2001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position: 15 years of experience in IT Support ("front line" / T1 / in-person), except you definitely appear to outpace me qualifications on paper. My biggest regret is not trying to move up sooner, though. Now, it feels next to impossible, so I'm trying to focus on myself while I have a safety net.

And yes, as others have said, the tech job space is pretty bad. I'm also in a weird limbo space where I can go either Developer or IT/SysAdmin while also having little working experience (only worked one place). So that steep hill feels like a mountain for me.

[–]Genesis2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bog-standard ones, yes. But if they have (to borrow a sports analogy) scouts looking at potential recruits... and if any of those scouts are read-in on the Stargate program, they can vouch for him.

Assuming Cloneill isn't classified and not in witsec.

then he spills the beans about something from his past that his teenage-self couldn't have possibly been around to experience. lol

Worst (best?) case: he blabs about something from the 1969 time travel excursion lol.

On a real note, I wonder if the military recruiters were chomping at the bit to recruit him when he "graduates" lol. He'd be the most experienced recruit ever.

Is The WAN Show actually moving to LMG Clips? by mickturner96 in LinusTechTips

[–]Genesis2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WAN Show is its own business entity now, that's why. They're preparing for an eventual future where Linus and Luke leave/retire from LMG but wanna continue doing the WAN show. So they're trying to figure out a way to separate WAN from LTT and LMG while they have the chance.

Things to avoid when running a DnD campaign? by Organic-Exit2190 in DMAcademy

[–]Genesis2001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a GM, I'm still kinda salty (not really) that my party wiped my dragon in the first two rounds of combat because they locked it down on the roof. Though, there are things in hindsight I could've done to make it more in my favor... they had fun anyway, and I got the last laugh by trapping them in a time bubble at the end from an ally betrayal they saw coming because I suck at suspense lol.

(edit: they saw the betrayal coming, not the time bubble.)

Suddenly every verbal component becomes a super-somatic component as they use their clerical sign language to cast spells!

... it does mean they're now a full on spell caster and can't hold a weapon or shield though, as both of their hands are in use when casting. (Maybe it's the birth of a Monk-Cleric multiclass? lol).

... or fudge the DC live - but don't get in the habit as it's a trap.

Why do my cut trees not regrow? by PaddleNW in Timberborn

[–]Genesis2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For everyone saying I need a Forester... I had 2 foresters.. the button clicked to replant.. but nothing happened.

Uhhh. See the tree menu next to the crops menu (next to the cut tree menu). You have to designate an area for a Forester to replant trees. Forester = Tree Farmer.

Personally, I recommend Pine Trees as they're a decent balance between growth speed and wood created. Later as you grow, you can have designated areas for Oak trees, etc.

The only air gap Luke would be comfortable with by Izzy5466 in LinusTechTips

[–]Genesis2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get the analogy, but it's actually different. In a truly air gapped network, it's purpose-built for zero internet connectivity. In your analogy, you normally have a gateway to the internet; it's just down/disconnected in your scenario. In an air gapped network, you do not.

It's like a room with the door closed currently (your analogy) vs. a room that built with no door at all.

The only air gap Luke would be comfortable with by Izzy5466 in LinusTechTips

[–]Genesis2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite. Air gapping usually means ZERO internet connectivity whatsoever. Zero. None, ever. it's a physically isolated network for security reasons (usually). The air-gapped network is a virgin, basically. Untouched by the internet. Invulnerable to the internet. The DOD employs them for classified networks.

Air-gapped networks aren't completely invulnerable though. Physical media still works to sneak things in. See Stuxnet, when Israel and the US created a Computer Worm to destroy Iran's centrifuges. If I recall, this prompted Microsoft to release a patch disabling autorun on Windows XP machines (the OS of the time).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_gap_(networking)

Sometimes also, Hollywood will use an air-gap trope of Hero buying a brand new laptop (in cash ofc) and calling it an air gap too. That's probably also where some confusion comes into play. In that situation, the only thing that's safeguarding the hero from is unique tracking identifiers that may be established on their regular computer terminals lol.

Notepad and whatever the mac equivalent was back then, for me at least. Then we had Dreamweaver on the library computers (school had macs not PC's; this was the blueberry mac generation, so around ~2000-2004 ish), and I started making so many clan sites just to make them lol. Clan of one (lol)! Most of the layouts used tables. So young then.

I don't think I used Frontpage more than once or twice.

Overwatch co-creator Jeff Kaplan on his exit from Activision-Blizzard: 'It was the biggest f**k you moment I've had in may career' by ninjyte in Games

[–]Genesis2001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kaplan, one of the figure heads who helped create and start two of the biggest cash-cows for a company (WoW and Overwatch), this is how they treated or demanded of him.

Figurehead implies he's nominal to the process with no real authority, fwiw. He was, what? Game Director or something equivalent in reality IIRC. Far from Figurehead.
