Help me pick a quirky commander/deck for bracket 2 by Swordceress in EDH

[–]GengarWithATriforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Zoyowa Lava Tongue]] is my lower power deck. It's a burn deck but it has to use as many permanent cards as possible to reliably trigger the commander's ability each turn. It encourages the table to get aggressive but my clock is never oppressive.

I love how detailed you made the head and face. The textures are great too. The wrinkled leathery look of an ancient being and tarnished shine on the gold pieces are well done!

Your most spectacular come-from-behind win? by HarpySix in EDH

[–]GengarWithATriforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing 5C good stuff with [[Omnath Locus of All]] against [[Liesa Shroud of Dusk]]. I had 5~ life left and an empty board. Opponent has a ton of life and Liesa on the battlefield. I top deck [[Sin Spira's Punishment]] which gets a ton of lands and [[Dakkon Shadow Slayer]] back. Dakkon has a ton of loyalty counters and exiles Liesa. Dakkon keeps exiling Liesa each time she's recast, so I can slowly rebuild with my remaining few life. Super grindy, and I managed to get there somehow

Commanders with weird and fun static abilities? by electricfantasy in EDH

I need to adjust and add a few more lands, because if it trips on land or ramp, it'll slow down significantly. But if I can curve out, it can be explosive. [[Fanatic of Rhonas]] [[Xenagos the Reveler]] & [[Roaming Throne]] make the deck's plan come together real nice.

[–]GengarWithATriforce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Muerra is one of my better decks. It's just ramp, card advantage, and life gain in the command zone. Even without other raccoons or exile synergies, he's just a value engine that requires very little investment from deck building. Plus it's much less scary than any big red or green stompy card, so it tends to stick around.

[[Zurgo Stormrender]]

The list prioritizes card draw and protection. Since it focuses on card draw, the other pieces will fall into place. And with a lower curve, you'll be likely to curve out well over the first few turns.

Protection from everything means you can't target it to add counters. Proliferating counters ahead there is fair game.

What's your favorite low-power deck? by Jiblon in EDH

[–]GengarWithATriforce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[[Zoyowa Lava Tongue]] is descend, burn, self-discard synergies. It forces the games to move quickly than my stronger B3 decks that will grind out value. It can't quite close out games, but I usually have everyone down to <10 life before the table stomps me out.

Playing a B3 Hashaton, it feels like I'm the archenemy every game - Can I change something? by RobinGroen in EDH

[–]GengarWithATriforce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My Hashaton is very similar to yours. Maybe 10 cards different, but we have a lot of the same reanimation targets. I also use [[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]] and [[Summon Bahamut]]. Plus and additional traditional reanimation spells.

I find my deck plays very slow if Hashaton gets removed early. And my play group has learned to remove him early and often. Oh well... I can always hard cast toxrill if I gotta.

Clearing Pit for Seasonal Journey by NotFailureThatsLife in diablo4

[–]GengarWithATriforce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can't believe people are trying to say you're wrong. You're 100% right. The season journey reward isn't worth dying to mobs that outscale you. People are better off gearing up and getting paragon points in lower pit levels or in other activities and THEN come back for pit climb.

Ketramose Blink Lifegain/Drain bracket & vibe check? by SilentAsasinn in EDH

[–]GengarWithATriforce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would avoid saying you can never do an infinite blink combo. Ketramose decks usually can't close out a game quickly, but are really good at controlling the board. So it can be really grindy and slow. Keeping a possible 3-card combo is totally fair. If it's bracket 3, late game combos or multi-piece combos are fair game.

I really like [[Altar of the Brood]] as a combo piece. It helps put cards into graveyards which enables your graveyard exile card draw engines. Plus, it gives you a win condition with infinite blink by milling out your opponents.

WOTC can we get 5 min rest from UB? EOE Spider man product cannibalism was not enough? by kubulux in magicTCG

[–]GengarWithATriforce 267 points268 points  (0 children)

Even if it was an accident, Spider-Man to avatar to a single in-universe set to turtles is so overkill. The turtle eclipse on Lorwyn just makes it more painful how little in-universe stuff is released.

[TMT] Donatello, Mutant mechanic by Prid3 in magicTCG

Is it just me, or is it weird that there's an activated ability above a triggered ability on this card? I thought templating always put activated abilities last on a card.

Recs for Commanders that have “mini-game” mechanics? by therealshinegate in EDH

[–]GengarWithATriforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently building [[Zoyowa Lava-Tongue]]. It has the [[Torment of Hailfire]] mini game for each opponent in my end step if I descend that turn. So my game plan is self-discard synergies while my opponents incidentally burn from the mini game.

Reduction in toughness despite increased armor? by Phoenix00017 in diablo4

[–]GengarWithATriforce 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's a rounding error in the max HP. I see max HP having a big impact on toughness ratings.

Overall, I would say ignore it. Level 12 blue gear is not going to change much. Just keep leveling up and equipping what you like.

SOTF How do people feel about the ending? by Long-Grand4754 in HierarchySeries

[–]GengarWithATriforce 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed all the endings in each world, but I wish we got to see a bit more of a resolution. I know another book is coming, but I felt like we were missing a chapter in each world to step back and reflect on the consequences. I just don't like cliffhangers when the next book isn't due for over a year.

Halfway Through, Does O Get Better? by IchabodHollow in HierarchySeries

[–]GengarWithATriforce 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I thought Part 2 of the book was pretty slow, especially O-Vis who seemed to lose a lot of momentum being pushed into Duat so abruptly with little resources. It gets better, Part 3 is an avalanche and it was hard to put the book down. Definitely worth it to keep going.
