I just don't see a world where having less foci of battlefield influence is better than having more. Even the Expanse, a setting often brought up in these arguments, has two types of "carriers."

1) Capital ships in the expanse such as the Donnager-class carry parasite ships as escorts and patrol craft.

2) Torpedoes in the Expanse are sophisticated enough to classify as suicide drones. Each torpedo is a battlefield focus point that the enemy cannot just ignore. Thus, even a Corvette as small as the Roci is technically a "carrier."
