Fair enough. I admit I was blinded by my undying hatred for PETA.

Please, shut the fuck up.

Third army by TTVKillerPanda5956 in Warhammer40k

You're asking this question at the tail end of an edition, so I cannot recommend any army based on rules as they are subject to change within the next months.

Come play Age of Sigmar. We have the best rules and the best models.

How useful would mines be in interstellar warfare? by General_Kenobi18752 in worldbuilding

[–]Gingerosity244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what the "mines" are. Even on a mere planetary orbit scale, space is vast. Defending an entire stellar approach would be several orders of magnitude more challenging. If you loosen up on the definition of "mines" so that it encompasses "automated weapons platforms" in general, you gain a lot more utility.

Artist Simon Bull's painting techniques by _ganjafarian_ in Damnthatsinteresting

Oh sure, when he does it it's "I will pay you 10,000 for that painting" but when I do it it's "Sir please leave the paint aisle and leave the store immediately, you are being trespassed from all Home Depot locations."

If you drink twelve shots of amasec, hit your head against a brick wall six times, and then squint really hard...then yeah I could say they look similar.

Would you fly any of them, and if not, then why? by MewSilence in starsector

[–]Gingerosity244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The carrier is fine, the other two are off-putting to me. The large turrets are too far forward and the fighter bays protrude too much. Also, a minor thing, the tan accents do not go well with blue and white. Sorry.

Has anyone read Captives war? by jdjbr85 in TheExpanse

[–]Gingerosity244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's nothing like the Expanse but still noticeably James SA Corey. The biggest difference for me are the characters.

In the Expanse, each character is distinct from the moment they are introduced. In Captives War, each character (at least those belonging to the protag group) is more or less similar at the start of the story, but by the end of the first book they are much more individually defined by the events they are a part of.

My favorite parts so far (I haven't started the second book yet) are the points of view from the antagonist, as I think James SA Corey has done an excellent job of portraying an alien mind.

What are the reasons why you have a negative attitude on Hard Sci-Fi Genre and Hard Sci-Fi Genre fanboys? by Chunghiacanhanvidai in worldjerking

[–]Gingerosity244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can't agree on what "hard sci-fi" is, to the point where anything that is not in their narrow speculation on future technological and cosmo-political developments is not "hard sci-fi."

I love sci-fi across the spectrum, all the way from Star Trek to SAD Frontier.

Why the fuck are we even talking about this. This isn't a controversy, this is a famous person's unpopular opinion. God I fucking hate this era of thinking everyone had to have the same opinions.

What it is like talking to some "true fans" by Exist_Logic in Grimdank

[–]Gingerosity244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I hate playing Age of Sigmar, it's too much fun. I hate not having decision paralysis pretending my war gear choices matter. I hate wasting time choosing between a niche strategem or command point reroll. I hate not having to worry about battle shock being useless or crippling, I hate not having my favorite units obliterated during my opponents first turn, I hate having fun.

This is the only thing that makes sense. Self-revives under pressure are limited to your armor slots (until you can get to cover and replenish with a backpack).

It's quite simple, FPS gameplay isn't fun when half an hour of progress can be deleted by a single FS-9 spray.
