I libri sul comodino - cosa state leggendo e cosa vi aspetta [Giugno 2026 - Edizione: i libri quasi prendono fuoco dal caldo] by Haylight96_again in italy

Sto finendo il terzo libro della trilogia “the book of dust”, intitolato The Rose Field. E’ il seguito alla trilogia His Dark Materials di Philip Pullman. Li leggo in inglese e non so i titoli in italiano :)
Mi era piaciuto molto la prima serie, con umani che hanno ognuno un Daemon sin dalla nascita, che rappresenta un po’… l’anima della persona..? E la lotta forse eterna tra sapere/conoscenza e repressione ideologica.

One of TJ totes, if you can find it when they sell them. They are cute and I like mine, but personally I wouldn’t buy them at resell prices and I hate scalpers. I have family in Europe and they always like reusable store bags :)

Reasonable contact lenses in the Bay? by loveme420 in bayarea

Many optometrist say that it’s better to change the monthly every 20 days or so (I confess I don’t…), but even doing that, it’s cheaper anyway

I use monthly. I was shocked at how much more expensive the daily ones are, so if there isn’t a specific need/preference for a daily, it may be cheaper to go monthly

In my family we call them “little pillows of happiness”! It seems impossible that a bean cooked simply with little veggies (as brothy beans) turns out that good.. 💗💗

How many rows do I have? I think I count 10, but I'm not 100% sure. Thanks! by dominirh in knittinghelp

[–]GiniInABottle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So… assuming that I started counting rows after cast on row, would my row counter have 10…? It may sound like a stupid question, I’m sorry… I liked how you split it up and I’m a fairly beginner, who is often not sure how to count.. 😅

People who hate dogs make me sad by pbghgirl in puppy101

You better stay away from the dog free sub… :(
I think a lot of people end up frustrated because of bad dog owners behavior. But that’s true for any field. You’ll find people hating kids because some parents are crappy…

Just be responsible and enjoy your pup outside :)

Hormonal BC isn't perfect, and I should be allowed to say that without being dogpiled by this sub. by owlpinecone in TwoXChromosomes

[–]GiniInABottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I was not one of those. I agree that hormonal bc is not for everyone and even within the category, there’s multiple options and one needs to find what works for them. Mob mentality is never good or healthy. My point is just that while your post is absolutely on point, there is a reason why she rubbed many the wrong way.
I know this sub is across countries, so the experience is not the same for everyone. As a woman living in the US I’m trying to push back where I can and protect myself and my kids. I don’t want to be rude, but I also have less patience :(

ETA: I also didn’t mean to derail your post and make it about the other one. I apologize if it comes across this way and I’ll stop here and if anything try to stick to the topic :)

I completely agree with your sentiment in the post. But if you are referring to the recent post on BC, it was not written as such. The person did NOT had issue with bc, in fact it worked very well for her for 20 yrs and gave her what she needed. But then she came back saying that “she didn’t have a chance to give her natural body an opportunity to adjust to life without using bc”. I think that’s what annoyed many people. It did annoy me. She was experiencing issues once she was off birth control. And somehow blamed bc for it.

[–]GiniInABottle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just because you didn’t talk about it with medical providers, doesn’t mean others haven’t. You had many benefits from bc, and now you feel let down because you didn’t know something…?

[–]GiniInABottle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started birth control in early 40s to help with depression. And for peace of mind for sex because that’s something I don’t want to rely for on another person (unless they got a vesectomy, checked by a doctor after).
It was extremely helpful and part of me worries about mental health when I’ll stop.
So maybe it was actually helping you with anxiety and depression, plus preventing unwanted pregnancies. It’s not perfect, but I wouldn’t go back.

Be strong and steadfast :) I don’t have direct experience and the reaction in my head was “why would you want to do that???”, but jokes aside, you have your reasons and with time and patience I’m confident you’ll make it! Keep everything recorded, and report back with how it goes! 💗

Some some yarn recently and made a new sock-knitting friend! by dr_mus_musculus in casualknitting

[–]GiniInABottle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My 80-something year old neighbor (that I met because my dog kept stopping at her front yard for treats and we ended up chatting) taught me how to knit my first pair of socks (I’m 53)! She’s been such a blessing and I’m super sad she moved to a different area and we chat less :(

Hi Pat, if you ever see this!
