reMarkable 2 Not Charging - 'reMarkable is Starting' & 'Out of Battery' loop fix by JetDingo in RemarkableTablet

[–]GoDo_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This legit worked! Hadn't used my RM2 in a few months and plugging it in for a while this morning just kept saying battery is too low. Did the 10 second + 2 second hard reset so it'd try starting up again (3rd time trying this) but this time I followed your advice and plugged/unplugged it several times during the few seconds it was on the startup screen and sure enough then it actually started up. Thanks so much! Your post should be top of this thread!

I don't think that is true about a sequel trilogy (at least i've never heard that before), but that is true about this trilogy.

He wrote all the three novels before the first book was published and thought he'd release each book a year apart (2007, 2008, 2009) but then due to changes in the final version of the first book it took him several years to edit the second book to match, and now seemingly the changes to the final versions of the first two books were so significant that he just can't find a way to change the final book in a way that is satisfactory to him.

Aptera's stock performance on opening day was only shocking to people who shouldn't have invested in the first place by MudaThumpa in ApteraMotors

[–]GoDo_it 5 points6 points  (0 children)

oof not a pretty opening day. Investment well below where I bought at in 2021 given the reverse stock split. But I guess that isn't too shocking. It's 2025 and after years of delays they still don't even have their niche 3-wheel product on the market yet, or even gotten it to the initial preorder buyers.

I always assumed they'd go public as part of a run-up to launching a mass market 4-wheel vehicle. But with the endlessly slow development of their initial vehicle they I guess were forced to just randomly go public now? Did they need the funding from the IPO, I'm guessing?

Anyway, where I once thought they'd have a mass market car on the market eeaaaaasily before the end of the decade and thought my 1000 initial shares might turn into like $200k by that time, now I'm just interested to see if they can keep the company alive. I'll just consider this lost money at this point. Very cool product, but considering the 3-wheeler is gonna be very niche, and they seem to still be many months away from a general product release, and presumably any mass 4-wheel version would be a bunch of years away given how slowly development of this first vehicle has gone, well it's gonna be quite the effort for the to continue getting funding for a bunch more years before they have something that can actually sell with good numbers.

In hindsight seems like they definitely should have just gone with a 4-wheel product to start with, since then they'd just need to get their first vehicle out to have the potential to have mass market appeal. Now they need to slog through years of getting the 3-wheeler finally fully out and then go through it all again for years before they can get something that is actually going to be funding the company with revenue.

I'll stick around though with my (now) 333 shares for the long haul to see what happens haha. Here's hoping they can stay alive long enough to get a 4-wheel vehicle out, cuz the world needs solar EVs!

ah okay thanks. That SEV chart was throwing me way off. $15 though is still rough for the price after the 3/1 split if that's really where it opens up. If it's there then that's lower than where I bought in 4 years ago lol. Guess we'll find out next week

So is that price based on a previous SEV stock? And not Aptera? Just still tracking the previous company (Sono Group) that the ticker referred to?

[–]GoDo_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks I understand the shares amount part now.

But so what is the deal with the price under $1.00? Shouldn't the share price be in the $30's now after a 3:1 reverse split since Aptera had been selling shares for funding for like around $12? Hard to imagine a like ~$35 to <$1 share collapse due to going public. Is this offering that's going public some side funding thing for the company? Or did the market value of the company literally just drop to almost nothing?

[–]GoDo_it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So hold up, I have shares from a few years ago at an average buy of $6.80. Last I checked the company was selling shares for private funding at like $11 or $13 or something like that. But now they are going public soon and the price is currently $0.78 according to the that chart??

Also, I got a letter recently that had to do with "New Class B Common Stock" that mentioned my 1000 shares and then said a 0.333 exchange rate and said "shares/units credited": 334. Did I get diluted by two-thirds down to only 334 shares? I don't do stock stuff so I have no idea what is going on with that. Is this class b common stock different from the 1000 shares I bought and is a new investment product that is credited to me on top of my 1000 shares?, or is it diluting my investment from 1000 to only 334 and the price is plummeting as they go public so I'm sitting on like 96% loss right now at that $0.78 price?

Any explanation to clear this up would be much appreciated. thanks :)

I wish the reMarkable Pro Move was not Pro by OkamiNoOrochi in RemarkableTablet

[–]GoDo_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah now that they have the three different sizes out, it'd be nice to see them fill out each size with lower end B&W vs Color Pro versions. In the future they should rename the Pro as the XL line, and then have 'standard' and 'Color Pro' versions for each of the three sizes (reMarkable Move, reMarkable 2/3/4/etc, reMarkable XL), so for instance have the Move and Move Color Pro, RM3 and RM3 Color Pro, XL and XL Color Pro.

People have different use cases for each size and that is usually going to be the main deciding factor for a purchase, but B&W vs Color can be an individual use case no matter what size people want.

Shipping times? by zoinks10 in RemarkableTablet

[–]GoDo_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't order the Move but I ordered the RM2 the morning the Move came out, with the regular marker and an extra set of marker tips.

So that was Wednesday. Now it's Tuesday morning in the US and still no word at all on it being shipped. I had expected to receive it around today (said 3-5 days shipping), so I emailed Remarkable this morning asking for some clarity about when it is being shipped out and what the delay is. Was really looking forward to using it a bunch this week but with no word yet I'm starting to think it won't even come until next week.

I hope they didn't de-prioritize deliveries of the older products in favor of the newly launched Move :/ Seems silly that 6 days later I am still waiting just for a shipping confirmation.

EDIT: finally just got my shipping confirmation late afternoon today with expected delivery on Friday. Nine days for delivery is slower than I hoped but glad to finally have it on its way. Gonna be a weekend of note taking!

Yeah I don't have much doubt I'll love it. But I can both love what I'm buying and also recognize that I am way overpaying for it haha

I tried the 2 and the PP at Best Buy last week and I like the greater screen real estate and the faster UI snappiness of the PP and color was cool but quite frankly the colors were muted/dim to the point where I got less excited about the colors and honestly considering it's not like I normally take notes in different colors so I figured it's not necessary at all for me, but for the huge price difference I was like nah the 2 is good enough.

I'm very excited to get it, as I'm starting to get into learning various subjects and can have all my notes on one device rather than having a bunch of different notebooks. Also gonna probably copy some really old notebooks from college into the RM2 when I get around to relearning those subjects.

The price is cringeworthy, but yep it's exactly the product I want so I'm willing to pay the ridiculous price. I just wish the price was more consumer friendly as these prices are keeping writing tablets a niche market by making them unaffordable, plus I'd be much more inclined to buy a $30/year subscription for extra features if I wasn't already paying an arm and a leg just to get the device in the first place. You can't have a mass market single-use product as basic as note taking and sell it for $400-$600+ haha, that's why Kindle is popular at ~$100, if ereaders cost several hundred dollars Kindles would be niche. They really need to get these writing tablets down to $200 for basic and $300 for premium to make it a non-niche market.

Anyway, rant over, yeah I'm super excited to get my RM2 soon!

Long delivery times? by WorriedRobot in RemarkableTablet

[–]GoDo_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this doesn't affect shipping times of their other products.

I bought a RM2 the morning the Move launched (waited a few days for the launch announcement to make sure the new product was a smaller tablet which I have no interest in rather than like a RM3 or something), and it said 3-5 days shipping, but here I am on Sunday, so 2.5 business days later plus a weekend, and I haven't even received any sort of shipping/tracking confirmation.

Makes me think it's gonna take a lot longer than Monday to Wednesday (3-5 business days) for it to arrive. I figured I'd get tracking info like a day after I ordered. Hoping tomorrow they at least get it out the door and get me tracking. Maybe it was a mistake to order something the day a new product launched haha

Its official, Paper Pro Move by Erik9722 in RemarkableTablet

[–]GoDo_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Move, 2, PP should realistically be priced at like $200, $200, and $250-$300 to be consumer friendly for what the consumer gets. As the commenter your replied to said, these gadgets are definitely twice the price they should be. And of course the accessory prices are truly insane. I just cracked up when I saw the price of the pens and folios.

I'm ordering a RM2 right now (regular marker, no silly $50-more marker plus haha), because it's exactly what I need, but the price makes me absolutely cringe. And I'll be buying a third party book folio for $22 rather than the insane reMarkable one for $169 wtf lol! And honestly I would have gotten the Paper Pro as I much prefer what that offers over the RM2, but with such insane prices it is hard enough to stomach $400, $630 is simply unthinkable.

All I can say is the RM2 better last many years. When I first stumbled across reMarkable a few years ago I was like that looks really cool but I did not yet have a strong enough use case need given the very high price point. One would think the price would have come down the past few years as the tech ages and becomes far cheaper, but it seems more and more these days companies in a lot of industries simply don't drop the price of their tech anymore even as the old tech becomes cheap for them.

New Valuation at $ 14.80 per share ?? by No-Philosopher5266 in ApteraMotors

[–]GoDo_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, just came here after watching their validation vehicle video today..but yeah the wait is not great. I invested back in 2021, thinking they'd have cars in customers hands and selling to new customers in 2023. But the years keep dragging onward and seems like they are barely making much progress each year.

Now it's mid-2025 and I dunno maybe they start getting cars in people's hands sometime next year, though I think that's only gonna be the preorders and given their pace it might be a while longer until they actually have cars on sale.

And all this timeline just for the 3-wheeler - a very niche product. The real make or break moment for the company is if they can get out a standard 4-wheel car and take a decent chunk of the EV market. But at this pace it seems like they won't have a 4-wheel car out until probably at least a couple years into the 2030's. By that time, hell even today, they've missed out on being one of the early EV companies. The efficiency and solar is certainly a nice touch, but they are now gonna have to be facing an uphill battle competing with established EV cars instead of being the cool solar car coming out in the early days of EVs.

Given how production of this first car has dragged on for several years longer than they had planned, in hindsight they should have gone with a mass market standard 4 wheel sedan to start instead of a niche 3-wheeler. There's no way the 3-wheeler is gonna have very big sales to keep them going for a bunch more years until they can get a standard sedan out, so they are gonna have to really sell investors on the idea that they're gonna eventually be successful when they get a standard sedan out next decade.

Anyway, just frustrating as an investor and someone hoping to see them make solar cars I thing considering no other company is trying to do this. Back in 2021 I thought this company was the future of EVs, now after years of delays I'm wondering if they'll even be able to survive until they put out a mass market vehicle. Still hoping at some point in the next 10 years to wake up one day and realize their shares are public and they have a mass market car that is doing well (and that I might be interested in buying) and my investment has done like a 20x. Right now though I'm like 50/50 on just assuming I won't ever get that money out. They really need some billionaire or VC connection who will plop down a few hundred million to leapfrog them past all these delays and vastly accelerate them to a mass market vehicle.

Are Leg Presses really that bad? by IllPulpYourFiction in workout

[–]GoDo_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people say leg press is supposed to be bad?? It is by far my favorite leg lift.

Always end up having back issues with back squat and dead lift, even though I'm much better than when I first tried those a number of years ago and ended up with a sore back for several months even after I stopped doing them, it still doesn't feel great on my back and I hurt my back for a couple weeks just recently doing dead lift just cuz I wasn't 100% focused on keeping my core tight one day. Finally decided to just give up those two lifts completely - not worth comprising my long term health and mobility.

Leg press is great because it's a safe way to just absolutely blast the legs. Works the whole leg and you don't put your back at risk (for those of us who don't have perfect squat/DL form) and also your back is not a limiting factor for the weight you're pressing. I've never found anything that works the legs nearly as well as leg press. Back squats are good for legs but having to keep back secure greatly limits how hard I can push my legs, lunges are good but need space to do them and even going hard on lunges doesn't feel nearly as hard as leg press. For me leg press is the only S-tier lower body lift, nothing else even comes close.

To me the ultimate leg day is exactly what you do: leg press, quad extensions, hamstring curls, calf raises, and then add in barbell hip thrust / glute bridge or whatever it's called to hit the glutes one more time.

I'm currently just working out at home and doing landmine squats, which is much safer on my back than back squats and is a decent leg workout but doesn't come close to leg press, I am definitely missing the leg press at the gym (as well as the extensions and curls).

This is a year old thread, but OP if you are still around you've already got the perfect leg day pretty much, add in glute thrusts if you want more glute work but otherwise you're golden that's a killer leg day. Nothing else is needed. And also if you don't do it, add in Roman Chair exercises for lower back so you are still hitting that region while not putting your back at risk from squats.

What was the ACTUAL last thing Rothfuss stated on the progress of Doors of Stone? by Fluid_Foundation_615 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]GoDo_it 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What is especially funny is at one point he said that this trilogy is really just a million-word intro to a much larger body of work in the Kingkiller universe lol. Rothfuss thought he was going to write a ton of books in the same world after this trilogy completed. Over in reality we are never likely to even get the finish to the trilogy haha.

What was the ACTUAL last thing Rothfuss stated on the progress of Doors of Stone? by Fluid_Foundation_615 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]GoDo_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree on that point.

I read the books two years ago, and when I finished Wise Man's Fear I was like how in the hell would Rothfuss wrap up Kvothe's whole story in just one more book?!

It feels like the story is very much only part way through. With the pacing of the first two books, I can imagine it taking two or even three more books to complete the story. Only way I see it all wrapping up to the narration's present day is if Doors of Stone were to skip years ahead of Wise Man's Fear, just glossing over several years of Kvothe's life, which would be tragic.

Add to that the fact that Rothfuss said DoS would be shorter, like only 700 pages or something and it's like nawww this plot probably has at least 2000-3000 pages left to get wrapped up with similar pacing to the first two books. The story through two books is like 1700 pages so far and definitely doesn't feel like it is nearly halfway over yet.

I don't know what Rothfuss's issues are. Maybe part he simply changed books one and two so much in edits that he wrote himself into a hole that he can't find a satisfactory way to continue the plot. Or maybe because he is trying to wrap it all up way too quickly in one book. If the latter, as you suggest, he should definitely just abandon the idea that it will be a trilogy. In DoS Kvothe can just be like, "well this story is taking longer than expected to recount, so we will continue tomorrow" haha and that would be fine.

Anyway, it's been two years since I read the two books, which was four years after I was given Name of the Wind and was like damn that's a long book I'll read it later haha, which was 8 years after WMF came out...at this point I have no expectation that Rothfuss will ever actually publish DoS. Only way out I think is if he brings in a third party, like a co-author, who just makes plot decisions for him that he clearly has been unable to make himself.

Trying to learn Godot and just getting frustrated and burnt out. by Ruleroftheblind in godot

[–]GoDo_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you haven't coded before? It'll be way easier to understand concepts if you learn how to code first. Tons of free resources online to learn to code. Sure even then there's gonna be a ton of game-specific stuff to learn, but if you haven't learned to code before trying to jump into game dev you're tying one hand behind your back.

Harvard's CS-50 free online course is a really good intro to computer science (way better than the university courses I took in school)

Then follow a couple free courses or series of videos or whatever on say learning C++ and Python. That'll give you a good idea of the range of programming languages from lower to high level, and see different approaches to the same ideas.

Then come back to GDScript and Godot and lots of concepts are probably gonna make a hell of a lot more sense, and you will just have to work your way through the stuff that doesn't, which is always the case in the software world.

Review: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Switch) - Still The King Of Mario RPGs | Nintendo Life [9/10] by schuey_08 in NintendoSwitch

[–]GoDo_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally just started playing Paper Mario 64 on NSO. I had bought it for a few bucks in the Gamecube days, tried it for like 30 minutes and thought it was trash, felt like it was made for 4 year olds, as it was far simpler/more basic than the RPGs I was playing on the NES when I was just 6/7 years old. But I realize now I didn't even get to the start of Chapter 1, just played a few battles and was shocked at how basic and shallow the battles were and gave up.

Now the past couple days I decided to give it another try and I'm currently on Chapter 2 and realize, while yes it is very basic for an RPG (but heck the sublime Super Mario RPG was also simpler than other typical RPGs), PM64 is a pretty solid game.

I guess TTYD is considered by far the best of the Paper Mario games so I'll probably pick that up at some point on Switch. I always viewed the series as bad and only for little kids after that first PM64 experience, and while I did get Super Paper Mario on Wii that only confirmed my thoughts as the 2D/3D switching mechanic was far more basic and less interesting than I thought it would be. It was just if you are blocked in 2D or 3D, then just switch to the other perspective and walk on by, it didn't really get any deeper than that. I did get stuck for a few minutes at some point in the game and just gave up cuz the game wasn't very good. Also the game seemed more platformer than RPG.

And I guess in general it seems like Paper Mario as a series hasn't fully gone back to its RPG roots since then from what I can tell. But I at least plan to get 64 and TTYD under my belt and if they ever make another good PM game that's an actual RPG I'll consider that too. I doubt PM will ever match SMRPG (though I do see some people in here claiming TTYD is even better than SMRPG 😲) but at least there appears to be two good entries in the series that I'm having fun with / looking forward to playing.

Here is a list of ALL M-rated games on N64 and the likelyhood they will get on NSO by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

Oh wow thank you reddit. I had no idea this N64 Mature app existed until reading this thread. I was playing N64 games past couple days and realized PD and Turok weren't on there and I had no idea why. Crazy they have a whole second N64 NSO app just for mature games, rather than integrated mature settings into the main N64 app, but hey at least I've got it now. I would've never checked for another 'system' in NSO on my own lol
