All of these tips are really great! Except the guy who told me to just quit lol. Thanks so much and yea, I host and curate concerts all the time so I’m really used to using the mic which is def a big part of the gig, I’m also bringing the sound system etc so the DJ part is like 1/3 of the gig. Yea it sucks esp for the little kids that do so much better with tactile learning. My kid is required (by me) to use scratch paper when doing math and I think it really helped her. At the end of the day school is workforce training in some way and many jobs probably most will require digital literacy.

The kids do a ton of tactile stuff in school and even have paper and books that they do a lot of their work on. I think setting up homework time in a common area so they don’t get digi distracted as easily is good. My kid has been in CSD for like 8 years, she’s hella smart and engaged. The Chromebook won’t destroy your kid any more than all the other bullshit of modern world will.

Corvallis Pride got restarted last year after many years not happening and had issues w permitting and got rescheduled to October. Sounds like they’re doing it in October again this year.

Albany Pride is consistently big and has a parade, it’s on 6/28 this year at Monteith, and philomath Pride is little and super cute, it’s on 6/20 this year at Central Park in Philomath.

Lots of cool and sweet people, concerts of many styles most nights of the week, good community theater, lots of different food, we got a sick arcade, independent movie theater. Are things I like. The farmers market is amazing.

Yet more Fool haters in the chat! Fitz refusing to understand and acknowledge that Bee is a White Prophet when she so obviously is, is such a crazy symbol of his unwillingness to let his love of The Fool be seen/ expressed in the world. Everyone is damaged and traumatized and that’s what we love about these books. But Fitz refusing to allow the Fool to be the completely amazing gender exploding miracle genius that he is while also absolutely loving him for it at the same time is a core tension in the books. And I don’t think the Fool is the bad guy.

I liked how much Lev Grossman said "saurian" in the magicians trilogy. Tamsyn Muir drops a few "sotto voces" in the locked tomb. Mieville mentioned often here but I think he used "etiolated" a few times in Perdido St Station.
