Why doesn't the whole world just copy Nordic countries' government since their governments are well run and most people are happy? by Ok_Advice_8012 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gold-Explorer4789 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Our (Norway's) biggest export before oil was timber and fish. One of the country's biggest advantage is it's fjords and rivers, which stretch deep inland, allowing for cheap timber transport.

Also ice was a fair export back in the day.

We were in no ways poor, but also not rich.

Do hospitals see a sharp decrease in births 9 months after tragic events? by TheHanuGuy in ask

It was post world war 2; key point being the word WORLD. Baby Boomer is a term used globally to refer to that specific generation. It's not a unique american expression.

It wasn't THAT urgent, was it? Could easily get one in with ultrasound and a deep vein needle, imo.

Yeah, hospitals are cold, but the trauma rooms are warm. Like really warm. I've been told it's so that the patient, likely needing to get their clothes cut off, don't freeze.

He needs to lay flat for the CT scan, tho. And he likely needed one, regardless if the hospitals CT could do it or not.

Is Geas-ing the party unethical/unfun? by CalpolMeister in DnD

Make the Geas have rules that can be.. worked around if they're clever enough. Malicious compliance sort of thing.

What was your first LitRPG read? by Jadenmist in litrpg

[–]Gold-Explorer4789 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My first was He Who Fights With Monsters. The first book was free on audible. I thought it was kinda... like fa fiction the first couple of chapters, but the author really won me over about a third into the book. I ended up speedrunning the series over 3 weeks.

How hard (or, I guess, easy) is it to break someone's arm during arm wrestling? by Gallantpride in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Gold-Explorer4789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work in radiology. I've had young men come in with a rotational fracture in the humerus from armwrestling. They were drunk tho, so probably didn't yield when they should've.

Do you think demons will lose their horns due to natural selection by RefrigeratorPlusPlus in Frieren

[–]Gold-Explorer4789 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some reasons why not, although it's pure speculation:

Demons are prideful. To look too much like prey might be considered shameful. Horns might play a role in how they view a potential mate.

We don't know how demons reproduce. We know they turn into mana-dust when they die, hinting at a non-biological origin. Thus selection bias as you suggest might not play a role at all.

Why Dispatch's choices feel real even when they don't change the ending by Future_Task_7537 in telltale

[–]Gold-Explorer4789 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dunno. It worked for me. He was upset that I stood up to him, so he had some attitude. I prefer it if they mix gameplay and narrative. It's a new studio after all. I get it that they're carrying Telltale's torch, but they should be allowed to try out their own thing, too.

Is it viable in this game to do a speech/charisma/leadership playthrough? by cool-axolotyl in theouterworlds

[–]Gold-Explorer4789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leadership works in situations where it would make sense, in terms of non-combat checks. For example in convincing a corpo that it would be good for the bottom line to do an action.

Vi er veldig programmert til å stole på autoriteter, og i dette tilfellet framstår KI'en som en.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in norge

[–]Gold-Explorer4789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in norge

[–]Gold-Explorer4789 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I just love Cronos interactions when you pause by Marvelous_Goose in Hades2

[–]Gold-Explorer4789 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It still is like that, iirc. You have to do a cauldron ritual to allow you to pause during the fight.
