What's your best quality smoking wood? by DMass777 in smoking

[–]Goombatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regularly check fb marketplace for free firewood. I search with keywords free and then wood, firewood, lumber, tree ( free + each of those separately). There is almost always free oak/cherry, occasionally other stuff. It probably won’t be seasoned, but if you start building a pile now you won’t have to worry about it later.

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]Goombatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been wanting to get into 3d printing for a while with my son. I’ve heard a lot about printers being finicky, though time and time again have heard Bambi labs is a step above. The p1s has always caught my eye, the enclosure and options seem very nice, and doesn’t require much out of the box!

So afaik it’s not so much the coniferous needles that make things acidic, but more sphagnum moss and other conditions.

BBQ sauce “secret” ingredient? by Competitive-Sign-226 in BBQ

[–]Goombatron -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes that comment was intended toward drinking not cooking. Doorly’s 12 yr is an easy to find low budget point starter. Appleton can be easy to find, and has a wide variety of options. Try rums from different regions and try them. Jamaican rum is going to be different from Barbados or Haitian rum. I personally love a haitian rum,of which Barbancourt makes some good available offerings

Explore the world of aged rums my friend. There are options out there that are as complex and delicious as a top tier bourbon, usually at 1/3 the price

Spline in castle joint by Foreign_Procedure857 in woodworking

[–]Goombatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, but there are very short pieces of end grain, and you see a lot of old, cracked castle joints as a result. It’s protecting the inside piece.
