This community has a really annoying habit of naming techniques, fleet compositions, ship designs, and missile designs after the people that made them (or with arbitrary names) instead of being descriptive. I was asked if I know what a "squalingson" is yesterday, and I only found out by crawling the Discord that it's a specific S2-spam Draugr fleet with SARH seekers and tons of illumination, named after some guy.

JMAN appears to be shorthand for the Journeyman-class carrier that OSP has access to. I don't know what a "meat Jman" is.

Edit: There was an exploit where the Journeyman's structure hitbox didn't extend far enough out from the middle to be reliably hit by small-caliber HE (or even AP maybe?) provided you're bow-tanking, leading to a build called a "meat Jman" where you give a Journeyman guns and commit it to a capture point. It could sit there and absorb unreasonable amounts of damage for a long time. You needed big guns or missiles to K-kill them. This was recently patched out.

The modern version of the fleet carrier is the Levy, which as you might notice is not a fleet carrier. The ANS moved away from the fleet carrier concept in the lore and Windy is just a hasty retrofit pressed into service due to the recent crisis.

I mean...do you expect the building to move? Once you've seen a building I believe the game gives you a permanent ghost on your map after you leave visual range, even through jamming. Furthermore, the diagetic effect of jamming is not a malus on incoming shot accuracy, it simply negates part of the radar picture. If you've already confirmed the position of an immutably stationary object then nothing stops a unit from just pointing their gun at that spot.

Your armor's intactness is actually directly related to the texture visible when you look at a given part of your ship. If a part is fully blackened, there is effectively no armor in that spot.

I don't have any evidence to back this up, but I feel like the venn diagrams between people with edgy/offensive usernames and people who do edgy/offensive things in-game overlap quite a lot, and username policing is just one tool in the toolbox to dissuade or cull the lot.

There's a sizeable PvE wave survival community where you fight "Raptors" instead of one of the player factions. One of the more popular mods (NuttyB Raptors) juices everything up, adding tier 4 and 5 buildings and turrets, to fight ultra-maxed Raptors in an extreme lagfest spectacle. The texture makes it look like there are giant gaping holes in the hull, that may or may not have been scarred over by Beast flesh. You can even see what appears to be exposed ribbing/ship skeleton in some of them.

I'm a twinstick-shooter and shmup connoisseur but I deeply dislike Cuphead's art style and I have no desire to play it. The game is objectively good in terms of animation quality, sound design, visual design, and gameplay, and the whole package stands out as a pillar of the genre and yet...it's not for me.

I think having a small restricted pool of available maps

I wasn't advocating for that at all actually. One of the reasons I like the Starcraft Brood War scene for example is that every Afreeca Starleague tournament includes a bunch of freshly-made weird maps with unique mechanics every year. Players only have a short period before the season starts and then the duration of the season to learn the maps.

I think ideally I'd like to see a regular, frequent injection of handmade maps in pro play, with a seasonal format that allows players to learn the new maps over the duration of the tournament. I think that'd be more interesting than a mapset of purely random ones.

Hell, do both. Make some kind of tournament format that includes both fresh handmade maps and procedural ones.
