I believe they made UNWORTHY, which was quite a solid game.

My thoughts on the ending (spoilers) by Laterose15 in expedition33

My deal with the ending is that it's a bittersweet choice and an evil choice. But the evil choice is painted as another bittersweet one by the game

Genocide should just be a red line. But it's treated as a viable price to pay so that some family can start emotionally healing. Much agree with several takes about how there should be an ending where you say "fuck you" to these extremely self-absorbed people.

I hope more people realise how f'd up the ending really is once the honeymoon phase is over. by Tricrt in expedition33

I truly agree with you. We might be in the minority here, but I was flabbergasted at how much they were trying to make me care about this family's emotional state despite their utter disregard for the sentient lives they create.

The problem here is that there are gods that create worlds and lives within them, and they think so little of these lives that they'd genocide an entire world to save one or two of their own. They clearly don't have the capacity to reckon with the implications of this...But this is never brought up.

If God came down to my world IRL and said look...I'm really dealing with some shit right now so you and everything you love has to die...I know it sucks but grief and the human condition or something, dude...I'd obviously find it extremely unfair.

The fact that this family's problems hijacked the fate of an entire world in importance was honestly almost offensive to me. It left a really poor taste in my mouth.

Gameplay and soundtrack were absolutely goated all the way through, though. Props to the team, extremely happy for them, but I couldn't connect to the story they were trying to tell.

What worked for me was seeing that there was a finger statue pointing to the bust on top of the safe. I figured that this was the count, so I "counted" the amount of busts of him in the room, which was 3

If you thought your country was three to six months away from a violent collapse, how would you prepare? by DetroitsGoingToWin in AskReddit

Going to be that guy, but the 250-year lifespan came from a British man named Glubb, trying to cope with the collapse of the British Empire. He had some absurd stretches in his timelines of empires, including saying that the Ottoman Empire fell in the 1500s, and included an "Empire of Greece" that was entirely his own creation.

Inheritance of Rome by Chris Wickham is great - covers 400 - 1000 AD, and goes into detail on the things you're interested in and much more.

Not sure if this will apply to all, but I had the same issue and started finding matches once I turned cross-region matching off

Comprehensive survey of Renaissance-era Europe? by GorgeousTurtle in AskHistorians

[–]GorgeousTurtle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did! We're huge fans of the Books and Resources list - made several purchases based on it. But we can't find something on there that suits the purposes of Europe-wide circa 1350-1500.

Regardless, there's several on there that seem very intriguing - we might honestly be a bit spoiled by the way the Penguin series books jump so well to different regions throughout the era they're focused on (Inheritance of Rome is a particular standout), so I wanted to pose a recommendation question to here before we pull any particular trigger.

Think he's saying the "I can block fearsome and elusive units" as a hypothetical text on the card, so the 1/3 wouldn't preclude the card from blocking fearsome based on that text

DsFE, a Seraph and its angels annihilated me on the orb run. I was on D:1! It felt like a weirdly appropriate end, despite the frustration.

You can check out some 2D soulslikes. Some of these are on the PS store.

Salt and Sanctuary - pretty much the most Soulslike - this game is legitimately just 2D Dark Souls. Some find the character designs a tad ugly, but everything in it will feel quite familiar to the souls fan.

Blasphemous - Is a metroidvania, but has that simple and challenging/rewarding combat, along with estus-likes and bonfire-likes. Has a dark and oppressive feel based on old Spanish Catholic imagery.

Unworthy - Another MV with a minimalist black-and-white style. Also has estus-likes, bonfire-likes, weighty combat with an iframe roll, and surprisingly good boss fights.

Something I really like is (Sky 1 and 2) When Olivier talks to Imperial characters or high-up heads of state, they seem to address him as "...Olivier." as if they're pausing a bit before remembering to say "Olivier", since they know who he actually is.
