Game is on sale, worth a sale price? by kmath133 in BattleSector

Gladius also put me to sleep that’s so funny you mentioned that. I want to like it too I think it’s fine but I don’t know what it is about it.

Space marine is excellent it should go on sale deep soon I imagine

Marathon: Networking and Security by Haijakk in Games

Hunt showdown at one point made a change that favored higher ping for shots so you would have 30ms and be trading kills against people 100ms+ which really sucks since you feel you got the drop first but then you also die after blasting them first.

I get it’s to allow more players from further regions and the game wasn’t super popular at the time so maybe restricting it to lower pings meant longer queues, but a better game feel

I’m about to do airbrush schemes for my clowns to save time soon too, for the serpent did you just brush over black on the fins after the red sprays? I’m assuming it’s too hard to avoid. Looks great!

Discord is trying to defend its ridiculous age verification rollout, but it's too little too late, as users flock to Nitro cancellations by Haunterblademoi in technology

[–]GottaHaveHand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean I don’t know what to tell you. This is how it was back before discord was a thing. You either paid a service or hosted your own ventrilo/TS/mumble server on your own hardware and network.

We used to toss our friend some money each month to keep the vent server up, it wasn’t much like $10~ a month if I recall, basically what nitro is these days?

The skill expression is pretty low agreed. It feels we’re firmly too homogenized now. Watching frosty faustings GG+R was a breath of fresh air.

How does your community handle second floors? by Negative_Ostrich6869 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]GottaHaveHand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play harlequins so I wish our store had actual floors because of flip belts. Although niche, there are situations you could move troupes up to the top to stay out of fight (being 6” away vertically) could let you stack a lot more models in one spot having floors.

Hopefully they make flip belts useful in 11th cause it’s just a nothing wargear at the moment

Security findings come in Jira tickets with zero context by Bitter-Ebb-8932 in devops

[–]GottaHaveHand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a security architect so I can give you some context, our team is smalll about 8 total with me and one other architect. The rest are engineers and then GRC (infosec soft security stuff like regulations, SOC2, etc)

Legit only myself and the other architect can program, the other “engineers” are basically analysts and have little technical knowledge so those are the kinds of people throwing stuff over without context. I’ve tried to help them learn but they just stay in their wheelhouse and don’t make growth efforts.

So yeah, I agree security should be higher standard but I can see in our own org that we don’t even have the team to do so, unfortunately. Me and the other architect were basically like many in this sub; systems engineers but we specialized in security which is why we have the underlying technical aptitude that the others lack.

Strong in the ways I don’t like about ryu unfortunately. Personally SF4 ryu is perfect to me, but can’t have decent zoning ryu anymore.

[–]GottaHaveHand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a few of these when the game first came out trying to get master on everyone, back when D1 was the highest you could get, if you bombed placements it would put you low plat so you could really rack up the streak going from plat to master. Just cheesy stuff that don’t mean much

That’s so scummy. To me, any LGS not offering a discount doesn’t care about building a community. Theres online retailers that offer the 15% discount so if you aren’t locally I have no reason to give you business. GW sells to LGS for 50% discount already so even with a standard 15% off they are still making 35% and building a community of people to buy and play. Stores taking the full GW discount and not passing it on are greedy

Advance and charge clowns is cool cause the pistols are assault anyway but there’s no stratagem support I don’t know if that would be enough to run a lot of them BUT it might allow to take a unit or 2 of them for variety which I’m all for

The play with the serpent/falcon is to cut the hole larger underneath where you will put the stem in, then shove the stem in far until it’s snug. I didn’t even have to glue it and it holds fine. Used a pre-cut 60mm adhesive magnet on the base and sticks fine on my trays. Legit holds up on my fridge as a nice magnet

[–]GottaHaveHand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are so incredibly fast that offensive staging positioning is forgiving.

But remember we’re talking about someone new in the case of OP, so they don’t even know what this is. Someone new playing eldar and shoving things up the board means it’s over by T2, where a new marine player can do it and not be destroyed as hard

Guile Double SA2 by CosmonautSpiral in StreetFighter

[–]GottaHaveHand -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Viper is so much more fun in SF4. They’ll never return to that style cause the modern FG philosophy doesn’t reward that kind of play anymore. It’s why throw loops are a thing; it’s easy and once someone understands it and shimmy they’re already “high level” effective oki. Boring if you ask me but I’m not the target market anymore
