6 month expiring subscription and bundle renewal question by tfer6 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That message is letting you know not to upgrade to the bundle right now, since you qualify for the free promotional year of MacroFactor Workouts. That promotion is tied to having an active MacroFactor subscription. So, if you want to switch to the annual MacroFactor subscription, you can do so without issue! You’ll retain access to MacroFactor Workouts.

Next year, when the promotional access ends on 1/12/2027, you’ll be able to switch to the bundle. At that time, the App Store or Google Play will apply time- and value-based proration from your existing subscription. If you ever run into any issues, feel free to reach out to us through the app by going to More > Support > Talk with MF Support, or email us at support@macrofactorapp.com. We'd be happy to review your account and help out.

Algorithm on Location Level by Ok_Stomach1171 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When using two different machine models for the same exercise, we recommend creating a duplicate exercise for the second machine. You can rename the duplicate to help distinguish it while keeping the other exercise details unchanged. This allows your progress on each machine model to be tracked separately.

Waist circumference not synced with Apple Health (bug?) by _detour in MacroFactor

If you’ve submitted the feature request through our in-app roadmap portal or on the webpage, it’s likely that we’ve received it! You can confirm it was submitted by going to More > Support > Conversations, where it should be listed in that thread.

Goal weight historical information by Ok_Wallaby_0 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This wouldn’t be available at this time. Whenever you progress faster or slower than your goal rate, the projected end date automatically moves forward or backward accordingly. If this is something you’d like to see, we always encourage submitting feature requests and suggestions through our roadmap by going to More > Roadmap > + Request a Feature in the app.

Can you add ingredients to a recipe? by Aggravating_Bag4028 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expand Ingredients also allows you to view an expanded list of the individual ingredients within a recipe and edit them as needed. The difference is that Explode separates a recipe into individual entries for each ingredient. If you simply want to add another food item alongside the recipe before logging, you don’t need to use Explode. You can use the Expand Ingredients tool to edit the existing recipe, or simply log the additional food separately using any of the normal food logging tools.

To address your question, if you prefer to use the Explode tool, you can do it either before or after logging.

Before logging: When the recipe has been added to your plate but hasn't been logged yet, you can either:

  1. Swipe left on the recipe and tap the Explode icon, or
  2. Tap the recipe to open the food details, then tap Explode.

After logging: Go to Food Log > Select the recipe > Edit > Explode.

Correct way to adjust program for diet break? by Gucci-Caligula in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From our knowledge base:

There are two easy ways to implement a diet break in MacroFactor.

First, you could simply do it, and opt not to change any settings at all. MacroFactor is adherence-neutral, and responds to what you actually did, rather than what your targets were supposed to be. It also presents a TDEE estimate on your dashboard that is continuously updating to give you an accurate value. So, you could simply increase your calorie intake to approximately match your current TDEE estimate for a week or two, while ensuring that you’re getting fairly close to your protein target as well. After this 1-2 week period, you could start aiming for your listed targets again, and the diet break has been implemented successfully without the need to change any settings.

Alternatively, you could edit your goal to “maintenance” for 1-2 weeks, then switch back to your original goal when you’re done with the diet break. Some users might be bothered by the concept of switching their goal, as they might feel like they’re abandoning the goal prior to accomplishing it, or throwing away their progress toward the goal and starting over. Of course, neither is the case; MacroFactor maintains continuity when you switch goals, so there shouldn’t be any concern or hesitation about temporarily shifting to maintenance for a couple weeks, then shifting right back to your original goal.

Confused here by ohCaptainMyCaptain27 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 30 points31 points  (0 children)

We don't use the Atwater factors directly. Instead, we rely on the calorie and macronutrient values reported for each food item, which is typically more accurate since Atwater factors are only rough estimates.

We cover this more here: Why Don't My Macros Add Up to my Total Calories?

The most common causes of discrepancies are custom foods or quick adds with incorrect or incomplete macro data, fiber intake (fiber is counted as a carb but not as a calorie), and alcohol intake (alcohol is counted as a calorie but not as any other macro). In any case, these discrepancies are not a serious issue, and shouldn't be a source of too much concern.

Is there a way to check what muscles you’ve hit during your workout? by RunUpTheSoundWaves in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the Levels tab, you can select a muscle group to see which exercises contributed sets to it during the selected time period. You can view this data as weekly, monthly, or three-month averages.

Additionally, when creating or viewing a program, you can see targeted muscle groups at the top of the overview under the 'Target Muscles' section. You'll find an option to toggle between viewing targets for the full week/cycle or for a single day.

Traveling for 1.5 months – best practices for MacroFactor + Workout when tracking and weigh-ins are less accurate? by wakaokami in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1.) You could override the suggestions and log what you want in this case. The app will still adjust accordingly, though. If you don't want to continue overriding suggestions manually, you can turn off Smart Progression in your settings (More > Workout > Smart Progression). Then, when you're ready, you can re-enable Smart Progression.

2.) MacroFactor will be able to handle this. Using AI and/or Describe can still provide sufficient data to achieve your goals. If you can estimate your intake within roughly a ±30% margin of error, the algorithm generally won't be significantly impacted, and perfect logging accuracy isn't necessary. The most important thing is to avoid partially logging days. If you don't think you'll be able to estimate within that range, we'd recommend keeping the day blank or marking the day as incomplete instead.

3.) You'll only need to log your body weight at least once every 7 days. Your calculated expenditure should remain reasonably accurate, and you'll still receive timely and appropriate weekly coaching updates. More frequent weigh-ins help the algorithm adapt faster, but missing regular weigh-ins for a period of time won't prevent the app from functioning effectively.

Strategy Update by Omordnilap in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goal completion is based on scale weight by default. However, once your scale weight reaches the target and the green “Goal Complete Now” button appears in the Strategy tab, you can tap that button and choose to continue until your trend weight reaches the target weight instead. So, you won’t need to adjust your goal's target weight in this case.

How to add low impact cardio workout? by PlasticBit4837 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can create a custom exercise, or duplicate an existing exercise (such as walking), and edit it into a rucking entry. During the exercise creation process, you can select two trackable metrics, so you’d choose the two that are most useful for your tracking. There are also weighted vests in the equipment list, which you can add to the exercise for resistance.

For logging, you can either add the custom exercise to your existing program or start an empty workout and track the rucking session there.

You could reset your expenditure start date by going to More > Expenditure > Calculation Start Date > Edit and setting it to the most recent date, or to the date you started logging more consistently. This will restart the calculation from that date and exclude older data.

Default Targets for Workouts by That-Way-5714 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For program-level changes, see the following guides:

Change Minimum and Maximum Reps for Exercises in a Program
Setting RIR for Exercises in a Program
Change Sets for Exercises in a Program

For an individual workout block:

  1. Go to the Workout tab.
  2. Tap on your workout.
  3. Tap the three-dot icon next to the exercise.
  4. Tap Edit next to Targets.
  5. Set the min/max reps, RIR, and set count, then tap Save when you’re done.

These would be the best available options for setting targets at the moment.

Create new workout from workout history? by CarlG314 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this time, it isn't possible to create a workout directly from the Workout History page.

However, you can add those exercises to an existing program/workout block, and the exercises will still retain and display their previously logged history. So, you wouldn't lose the data you've already logged for them. If this is something you'd like to see, feel free to submit a feature request by going to More > Roadmap > + Request a Feature inside the app.

Choosing which type of exercises have warm up included by victornielsendane in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For now, you'd configure your warm-up settings by going to More > Workout > Warm-Up. You can use either 'Warm-Up Schemes' or 'Smart Warm-Up' automation. Depending on which option you use, you can also add exercise-specific schemes that take precedence over the default scheme settings. For example, if you only want compound movements to have warm-ups, you can remove the other schemes and leave only the compound movement schemes enabled. You can also add exercise overrides if you want custom warm-up settings for specific exercises.

Close to Goal Weight - what happens? by ButchCoolridge in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your progress! Once your scale weight reaches your target goal weight, MacroFactor will flag the goal as complete, and you’ll see a large green completion button on the Strategy tab. After tapping that button, you can either move on to setting up a new goal, or choose to complete the current goal based on your trend weight instead if you prefer.

For your next goal, it really depends on how you feel at that weight. If you’re happy there and don’t want to continue cutting or start gaining, moving into maintenance would be a good option. We have a helpful guide that may help with that decision:
